Heard about this place as a hidden gem for breakfast, but this rating is for lunch. The location wasn't too difficult to find thanks to the map, but it is slightly off the beaten path for sure. The guy working in the kitchen was very nice and recommended a cheesesteak for lunch. Amoroso rolls were what he told me they use for bread. They have several tables for dine in and the place was well heated for a cold winter day. It was simple and clean inside. My cheesesteak was average, it was pretty greasy and flavor wise wasn't bad. I'm not a huge fan of amoroso rolls for cheesesteaks, the grease also soaked into the roll quite a bit. The portion size was small, but the for the price I think it was on par. I think I paid just under $6 for the sandwich. I'll have to return for breakfast which seems to have much better reviews!

Ok yes the service is slow as hell and the customers on the rude side but... you will get a good meal. The GPS will direct you to take the unpaved ominous looking road of 'Calcon Hook' but it's not the only way in Chester Pike to Sharon Avenue is an alternative. Once you locate the restaurant it will remind you of a trailer, in a movie about construction workers. Inside it's spacious with plenty of seating and fairly clean considering the age and lack of updates. On this date I'll give a little leeway to service because the cook was in the hospital and the lady 'owner' was alone. But I'm here to tell you she worked that grill, those phone calls, the counter and tables! I ordered the hungry man special 3 eggs, home fries, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 French Toast and 2 pancakes all for $6.99! It was good and plentiful. Each item was enjoyable. I have to say I had several cups of coffee and it's some of the best around. Next time I'll bring a book to read as I sip my coffee and wait!

We love Sparky's for breakfast or lunch! Chris is the chef and every thing is prepared perfectly, and very generous portions too. Tucked away in the Delaware County Emergency Training Center, Sparky's is a hidden gem!

The first thing I noticed as fellow Yelper Dee M and I approached Sparky's Cafe was that it's surrounded by industrial buildings, old chemical storage tanks, and empty lots. How she ever found this place is something of a miracle, or Yelp magic. The second thing I noticed as we got out of our parked car is that the cafe shares grounds with the Emergeny Training Services Center, and that this center has a gun firing range. How do I know that? Because right after I got out of the car I heard gunshots, and I nearly 'hit the deck'. I am sure I at least ducked, then Dee (the child of a police officer) calmly said "Oh, they're on the firing range today." Thank goodness. My heart stopped racing after a few minutes.Sparky's is a nondescript cafe attached to part of the Training Center. The restaurant is on the small side but not cramped, not fancy but very clean, with a counter for ordering and the owner coming out to take your order if you want to eat in. He came out to us shortly after we sat, wiped the table for us and handed us menus. My first impression: Prices are awesome! Menu is very typical breakfast and lunch foods, nothing fancy, and the most expensive item was the 'Spanish food" plate that had choice of pork chop fish or shrimp, rice & beans, fried banana and salad...for $11.00. Wow.I ordered the french toast, with Scrapple, while Dee got the $4.99 egg special (3 eggs, choice of meat, home fries and toast). My french toast was very good, not soggy, crisp on the edges. I used only butter on them, too, they didn't need syrup for me to enjoy. Scrapple - on the flat top, the only way I'll order it - was a seriously thick piece, nicely crisp on the outside, mushy on the inside. I tend to like my Scrapple thin cut and crisp, but this was still really good. We were never rushed, the environment was pleasant and the owner a super nice guy. It's a great place for an inexpensive, not fancy breakfast or lunch. I'm definitely going to be back, and prepared this time in case officers are practicing on the firing range.

I'm not gonna lie, a little hard to find. But this is a diamond in the rough. It's hidden in the industrial section but the food is made to order and you can get much fresher. The OJ is fresh squeezed as well. I had an omelet with hash browns & toast. The best part, nothing was burnt, or overcooked. My friend also had an omelet with hash browns & toast. When I looked up, he had his plates clean off and stacked. He eats a little faster than me . Very good breakfast, I haven't tried the rest but I'll go again to keep experimenting with other dishes.

Nasty. I ate most of it cause I was hungry. Brown oil covered the eggs. In other words, used/burnt oil. Gross. Dude was cool though.

This place is a hidden gem Don't let the industrial neighborhood or building fool you! There's some fantastic gluten free, dairy free eats here. I mean tasty!!! I got a giant slab of juicy ribeye steak, 3 farm fresh eggs, crispy hash browns, avocado, gluten free toast and a large coffee with almond milk creamer for just over $10 bucks. An absolute dream of a breakfast and a great deal!. This is $20-30 meal where I live in Cali. The owner Chris is totally Amazing and cooked us a fabulous meal! He's a great guy to chat with and even brought me some beef bacon on the house because I asked him what it was. You can't go wrong here, in fact I wish I could order the entire meal over again just writing this review. If you just took a flight to Philly go check out Sparky's it's worth the short drive!

Super hungry after having dropped my niece off at Philly International, I checked Yelp for a breakfast place and UP popped Sparky's!Yes, It is close the airportYes, It is a hidden gem that in all my travels in that area I had never stumbled upon. Yes, you may freak out a bit on the ride back to where it is off Calcon Hook Road. A bit about that road folks: I was told as a kid to never go on or even near " The Calcon Hook Road". As a kid, the word "Hook" was enough to keep me away. As an adult, the ride on the bumpy road lined with rusted, industrial oil tanks and a creepy cemetery were initially discouraging but I am glad i drove on because the creepiness got even better. As I got closer to Sparky's I saw lots of discarded junk in the fields, abandoned buildings etc. Big Score for the adventure junky in me!!.Thankfully, I had read the reviews stating its hidden location and most of the clientele were students/instructors from the Emergency Service Training facility that shares the same real estate because who would have ever known a Breakfast and Lunch spot would be out here?Once at Sparky's the parking lot was clean and safe.Inside it is no frills but clean. Imagine your grandmother's formica kitchen tables :-) The tables are big with ample space between diners. And yet not so far to not be able to interact with the nice locals. Patrons tended to be friendly and conversive with one another and welcoming to a stranger. Besides servicing the Training facility this was a happy place for many locals. Meal: I had the breakfast special which was 3, Yes Three eggs, delectable homefries, toast, meat- I chose scrapple, and a beverage for $4.99. I chose a soda over a hot beverage on this July day and I was not charged more for my choice. Imagine that!!! I loved my meal. The owner, Who is also the cook is a very nice and warm person. From the interactions I saw he is very intune with each of his customers. He knows their preferences. Me being new, he chatted me up for a bit and it was enjoyable. I loved my breakfast within this friendly atmosphere. I have suggested this place to friends who I know will try and I also will be back. Next time I'll try the $6.99 Lunch Special The moral of my dining story is this: - Don't judge a book by its cover ( in this case location) - Always keep an open mind when dining.

Old school Delco gem! The location keeps it authentically local and preserved. None of that farm-to-table serve it on a brioche bun horse shit. Eggs, cheese, meat on a fresh long roll. Perfect set up for the rest of the day if you can finish it in one meal. And the price: $10.50 for all three!
