After seeing good reviews, I wanted to try them. I thought my husband and I would have a good experience. I was left very frazzled, and we will not be going back there. My ribeye was fine. However, my husband's steak was very bland and tasted off/different than mine. The waitress wasn't very attentive, and didn't even ask us anything about the steak. The service was lacking to say the least. I mentioned it to her at the end, and they offered to cook another one for us. By that time, we just wanted to leave. They gave us a discounted price of free drinks (iced tea and a Dr. Pepper). It is disappointing when everyone around you seems to be enjoying their food and good service while you barely get any.

Have been seeing this place on our local Facebook page as THE place to go on a Friday night, since that's the only night they're open. When you're seated, they bring two homemade rolls and butter to enjoy while waiting for your order. You choose your entree and then all sides are the same...(1) loaded mashed potatoes with sour cream, cheese, and bacon bits, (2) green beans with bacon, and (3) house salad with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and croutons. Hubby ordered his favorite steak, a ribeye cooked medium rare. He said his steak was cooked perfectly, exactly medium rare with nice char marks. He did add a small amount of salt. Loaded potatoes were fresh made and creamy with a few small potato chunks, indicative of fresh potatoes and not instant. Green beans were so tasty with nice big pieces of bacon and perfectly smoky flavor. The salad was served with a creamy HOMEMADE ranch...No Hidden Valley here and they leave the bottle so add as little or as much as you want. I ordered ribs...they come naked to your table with the sauce on the side. Don't let the mediocre presentation of the ribs fool ya! They were so flavorful and fall-off-the-bone tender. I didn't need any utensils at all, as tender as these ribs were. We ordered a slice of strawberry cake and chocolate cake to go. Will update review after trying those two. Service was impeccable and she was very friendly with attention all throughout the meal. Very clean restaurant. There was a back room that we couldn't see how many tables there were, but in the room we sat in, there was an array of seating options for a little less than 30 people. Picture: small, quaint dining experience. I would say the only downside to this experience was a slamming sound we kept hearing every few seconds. Thought at first it was a refrigerator or walk-in door being slammed but not so sure as it happened almost constantly. Facebook page states they have to go orders on Mondays. We will definitely return!

Folks, this is NOT your typical steakhouse. These folks do a limited number of entrees and do them very well. You have to pay attention when driving to this place or you will pass it up. It's housed in an unassuming little house nestled in the woods on the side of the road. When you pull in and park, you almost feel like you are going to a friend's house for dinner instead of going out to a restaurant. My wife and I love a good steak, so we had to check this place out when it started making waves here locally. We ordered the ribeye steak dinner, but they offer some excellent alternatives if you are not in the mood for a steak. The steaks were cooked perfectly, well-seasoned, and slathered in butter. So good you almost want to lick the plate. I had the green beans and they were cooked home-style with bacon. The rolls are perfect and served with lots of real butter. The baked potatoes are cooked so that when you open them up the insides are steamy and flaky. The toppings are real sour cream, bacon, cheese, and whatever your heart desires. The service is wonderful. We were completely at ease as the servers felt more like our cousins than restaurant employees. They really treat you like family and make you feel welcome. They get the message across to you that they want you to come back. They spoiled us. So if you've had a hard week, you deserve a good meal from people who are happy to see you. Check out the good folks at Southwood. You'll be glad you did!P.S. The desserts are great too. The portions are so big we had to take ours home and had bread pudding with our coffee the next morning. Talk about a great way to start a Saturday!

When you have a RESERVATION booked hours in advance you expect there to be food available at the restaurant. Not many great things to say about this place. For such a little restaurant opened once a week you would expect there to be better wait staff that could act like they actually enjoy their job. People were literally turned away when they HAD A RESERVATION because they ran out of food. Piss poor planning on their part.

Service was just not good. Had a reservation made hours earlier for 6. Then got stated that they only had 4 entrees left and it wasn't what we wanted. We still ate and food was fine. Overall, service was not worth the wait. If in the area go to Farmhouse in Huntsville. Still home cooked meals but better service.

The menu didn't have a very large selection to select for your dinner, and they were out of a lot of the main items on the menu. the salad was old and yellow the salad dressing was out and when asked for more they brought another bottle of dressing that had very little in it as well. the food was over priced. service was average and the food was horrible, corn was straight out of the can. The loaded potatoes was cold and had more sour cream than potatoes In a small cup. The rolls that came out was small and sparing like they could only warm up a couple of them at a time.
