This is your standard dive bar, your local pub, your neighborhood watering hole, and your favorite hangout. There's nothing fancy at all about this place but the drinks are cheap and the folks are friendly. They've got a TouchTunes jukebox so you can listen to whatever you want and there are several flat screens around the bar for you to catch the ball game. Smoking is allowed inside so if that's your thing you'll feel right at home. Out back there is a nice patio for those gorgeous days and a large fenced in grassy area where you could let the kids play provided you thought it was ok to bring kids to a bar. It doesn't seem to get too busy so don't expect it to be the most happening place in Katy but then again that's a good thing because you can actually hear yourself think or hold a conversation with a friend. You should definitely check it out if you're in the area...just keep your expectations low. :)-McLovin

So I sit down at the bar to order drinks and the red headed bartender informs me I'm sitting in somebody's spot. I didn't sit in somebody's lap.been going to bars before she was born. I usually tip very well but not this time.

Came to listen to my friend sing karaoke which was supposed to start at 8. He signed up along with several other people around 9 since the karaoke guy was here late. It's 10:11 and I have yet to hear anyone sing karaoke.

This place is a complete shit hole. Apparently the patrons run this place and tell the bartenders what to do and the owner doesn't have any cooth And doesn't give a shit that his employees treat people like garbage. I would rather get a six pack from down the road then to ever give them my patronige again.And make no mistake this is not my first time being at Southland when they have completely over served people I have a call into TABC n

This used to be our favorite little spot in Katy. We will never go back after the terrible service last night. The bartender may have been new because we've never seen him before, but he just cost this bar a long time patron.

We arrived around 5pm and opted to sit outside on the back porch as I'm not a big fan of smokey bars. The back porch was covered and there was a nice breeze so it wasn't to hot. The bartender/ waitress came and took our order within a few minutes of sitting down. They have 1/2 price hamburgers till 6pm, so we thought we would give it a try. Let me tell you, I'm glad I did.One of the best burgers I have ever had. Served on grilled jalapeno bread. The burger was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. This burger definitely had the wow factor working, juicy without being greasy. Topped with pickles, fresh lettuce, onions and tomatoes.The fries here were outstanding as well. They reminded me of the ones you would get along the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach, SC. Large hand cut french fries with the skin still on them. How fries should be made, cooked to perfection and perfectly seasoned with salt.No beers on draft, but happy hour domestics are only 2 bucks. I don't know how this place would be later on. It wasn't' very crowed while we were there, but was starting to pick up when we were leaving. I think they have karaoke on Fridays and Saturdays staring a 9pm.Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. You can even bring your dog on the covered back porch. . Southland Icehouse gets 2 thumbs up from me. Great food at a great price.

Came here to hang out with family outdoors while we are on a trip for a wedding. Large outdoor grass area for the kids to play and to play corn hole. Food and drink available. Not much shade but we luckily scored an easy up. Good place for large groups to hang out outside.

This spot is great. Owners and staff are badass - good to catch a game or just chill out

I'm glad my friend took me to this hidden jem!!You're not gonna please everyone, however I tried this place several years ago, and was NOT a fan Been back recently, and pleasantly surprised!! The bartenders were great. Leslie's my girl!!Karaoke with Chad on Tuesdays and Thursdays are AWESOME!!Yes there are regulars there, just like any other place in town... Before you know it, you'll be a regular too!
