The hype is real. The rumors are true. The awards - all highly deserved. Southern Yankee Crafthouse, which made "Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat" in 2024, has fantastic pub fare, a great beer selection, good cocktails, and friendly service.Know before you go::: Parking is across the street.:: It's first come, first serve, and seat-yourself. No rezzies (that I'm aware of, the two times I dined there.):: They're pretty busy around happy hour. Around 7:30, the room kinda clears out.:: Outdoor dining on the porch and in the back. Yes, there's a big back patio! And you can book it out for private events.Everything from the wings to the gian pretzel to the fish and chips to the pizza - all high rec! They do have half-price wings, a steak night, and other specials (call to verify the day of the week, because I can't remember!).

Amazing food and service. Duck confit and Philly cheese pizzas were some of the best we've had in Houston. Our kids loved the dill pickle pizza.Servers were helpful and attentive. Dog friendly patio. Glad we randomly found this on Yelp for a pre zoo lunch.

To start I love that they have a parking lot even though you have to cross a very busy street to get to them. Walking in they are very friendly and every one is there to help you. I have been in twice and both times the customer service is top notice. The place is small, but they do have a back patio with plenty of seating. Food: the pizza and burger were good, but nothing to out of the ordinary. The kids chicken was not good it was cooked either too much. They do have a great selection of beer and the drinks are good.

To be honest, I had no idea this place existed around the Montrose area. It's a great place for a casual dinner with friends. They have a decent sized parking lot directly across the street, which is rare around this area. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The menu offers classic American dishes like wings, burgers, and pizza but with different fusions of flavors. We ordered the yum yum fries and the crispy smoked pork belly for appetizers. The fries came out super crispy and I like the thickness of them. It was doused in different sauces like yum yum sauce, sriracha, and umami sauce. The serrano peppers also added a nice kick. My only complaint was that the sauces were not distributed evenly. Once we ate through the fries on the surface, the bottom fries were just plain. The crispy smoked pork belly was prepared similarly to Filipino lechon. I would have never thought to pair it with goat cheese and butternut squash but the combination worked well together to cut through the fat. I ordered the honey-soy-garlic wings (not pictured) which you order by the pound. One pound gets you 6 wings. The wings were huge and had a lot of meat. There's plenty of the marinade on the plate for you to douse over the wings.By the end, we were already pretty full but miraculously made room for dessert. We ordered the crafthouse mango cobbler. It took a really long time for them to deliver it (we even had to follow up with the waiter twice) but they were super apologetic and comped it from our bill. Once we finally got it, the cobbler comes warm on a cast iron skillet. You get a good mix of textures from the mangoes, the graham cracker crumble, and the vanilla bean ice cream. One order is good to share among 3 people. I love the diverse flavors of the menu. They also rotate their menus seasonally so I'll definitely be back to try out some of their new renditions.

My first visit was phenomenal, the manager waited on us & her recommendations were spot on & the food was amazing. This 2nd visit not so much, server didn't want to be bothered with us, our questions or request AT ALL. It's a laid back place I don't expect white glove service but we felt like a burden that really took away from our dining experience.

I cannot recommend this place enough. We come here exclusively for the food. Ordered the crafthouse burger (both impossible and regular meat). 10/10. No critique, just a perfect burger. The soft pretzel is also one of the best appetizers on the menu and we get it every time. Lastly, the apple crumble cast iron skillet was phenomenal. Also 10/10.

Okay, I have been there many times and love the food. But the servers are not always friendly. I'm not sure if it's because I look young and/or Hispanic (yea, yea, I'm playing the race card), that I always feel ignored or get the short end of the stick. I also have felt the replies by some of the staff don't come as nice. I understand that staff don't always have to be overly nice to customers; Yet considering the economic state we are in I would appreciate to be attended fairly like everyone else. Today, our meals were incorrectly delivered to another couple/and our server re-inserted our orders late without telling us there had been a mistake or considering to explain the delay. Food: 5/5 Service: 3/5

Went here with family for lunch and this place was incredible! Sat outside on the porch and watched the neighborhood - incredible atmosphere. The waitress was very nice and helpful. We got the pretzel and let me tell you that was the best pretzel I've ever eaten. We ordered two of the burgers and absolutely loved them. I'm usually hesitant on things with any heat, but this was perfect. We also ordered the duck duck shroom pizza. It was good but very sweet. If I were to go again, I think I would get the pear and bleu pizza instead. Overall, wonderful experience! Can't wait to visit again!
