South End Buttery

Great neighborhood breakfast spot.Caprese (5/5) - Perfect breakfast sandwich, ingredients were all fresh and simple. This typically comes on a biscuit but they were out that morning so I got it on multigrain, which worked great. Tomatoes were my favorite part of this sandiwch, fresh and tangy.

South end buttery was a place I heard about from many of my coworkers, and I was so excited to try it! Cappuccino was great (i have high standards for coffee), but the food was meh. Everything in the menu looked wonderful, and I ended up getting the Caprese breakfast sandwich (which looked really interesting). The sandwich was good, but nothing special (the biscuit was not great, but the filling inside was yummy, loved the slow roasted tomato-even though it was cold). My dad got the scone and overnight oats, which were fine, but also not great, and my mom felt similarly about the quiche she ordered. I think there are better local cafes in Boston, but it's a nice neighborhood joint for the south end!

What happened, Buttery?? Generously rounding up to three stars. Avocado toast was so lemony that it was almost inedible. Egg was over cooked and appeared to be from a microwave. Coffee was decent. Order took over 15min to come out and I was the only one in the cafe. Bill was $22. Recommendation: come for coffee, maybe, but pass on the rest.

Great breakfast spot. Went here for the first time this past weekend and really enjoyed it. I got the buttery country biscuit with bacon and tomato. Biscuit was soft and doughy and I loved the touch of the roasted tomato. I just got a regular iced coffee to drink which was good as well.

Good service, clean/cute establishment, gender-neutral (& very clean) bathrooms. The coffee was good (not great, not bad), but SO EXPENSIVE. I ordered a small vanilla latte with oat milk & it was almost $7. It wasn't much better than the Nespresso coffee I make at home. I didn't see any upstairs bar or downstairs basement that other reviews mentioned; perhaps they renovated in the past few years. They do have a patio outside but it was closed when I visited.

I don't see it. Really I don't. It's fine. The food is standard American faire but at an elevated price. It tasted...fine. I wasn't blown away but I was full at the end. The staff are nice and are very attentive which is always a benefit. I like it during the summer only because they had plenty of outdoor seating. The drinks are fine, a bit weak to be honest. Try it for yourself!

I have been a fan of the big brother for many years.I just had an excellent breakfast with an even better cappuccino. Clean,upscale and very well run.I had hurt my leg and was limping around.I was treated very kindly and sat quietly in a corner.The neighborhood is lucky to have such an excellent new addition. Highly recommended.

I had an iced mocha, it was fine. However, I was extremely disappointed by the attitude of (seemingly) the manager on duty. He was standing behind the (only) employee making coffee, telling him to move faster, get things done quicker, that he was holding up orders etc etc. The manager only helped prep the coffee cups while he stared down the employee, even though there was a break in customers at the register. This is a sign of bad leadership and an unprofessional working environment. I will not be back.

Did not appreciate all of the up charges. A mocha by definition has chocolate mixed with the coffee. Should not have to ask why being charged for chocolate on top of the cost of a mocha.
