Sonia's Near East Market & Deli

When I was hungry, I used to pick up the phone and place a takeout order with Sonia's. If it was close to their busy lunch hour, sometimes I'd have trouble getting through, and the same as when they were unexpectedly closed.However, nothing would stop me from getting my hands on their beef shawarma wrap, which I'm sure I ordered 90% of the time. Well, that's not totally true. If they were out beef, they would offer to sub a different meat, such as chicken. And if they did not have their pita bread available from George's bakery because their delivery hadn't arrived yet, they'd be happy to sub the pita for something else, or at least delay the order until they get their pita bread delivery. Their parking lot is tiny, but there is street parking. That's ok, because most people are in and out quite quickly. I spend most of my time in line waiting to pay. Any time that I spent longer than in line was for browsing their item selection in their market section, which is maybe a fourth of the size of their deli.To sum it up, expect a busy time during the lunch rush. Their prepared foods are great. Their pita bread comes from George's Bakery. The vibe is mostly deli counter ordering, standing around, and waiting for your order. I guess they do technically have some seating off to the side.

Some of the best Armenian sandwiches, snacks, and dessert. They are well kept and clean deli shop with a great selection of Armenian groceries. Service is pretty fast, friendly, and helpful with any store questions.

As promised from my last review, I did come back and try other menu items. I ordered the supreme gyro and based on a staff's recommendation, my friend ordered the Mediterranean chicken. We were not disappointed one bit. The gyro meat was juicy, tender, and flavorful, the ultimate combination for meat. The other ingredients worked so well together to provide a tangy (banana peppers), creamy (tzatziki sauce), cheesy (feta), fresh (lettuce), and sweet (tomatoes and onion) experience. The flatbread was soft and did an excellent job of keeping everything together. It is a very filling meal for a very affordable price. I can't speak too much about the Mediterranean chicken but my friend did mention the chicken was tender, and the garlic spread that came on the side was an excellent addition. One random aspect that I enjoy about Sonia's is the natural sunlight you get while eating because of the big glass windows at the front of the building.

I was driving around Cranston this afternoon and I was in the mood to feast on some freshness. Sonia's deli has fresh and delicious sandwiches. Their signature Atomic Bomb is warm with tender and juicy grilled chicken. I also ordered a chicken salad BLT which includes diced pickles and their Turkey Pesto has cranberries. Sonia's puts a unique twist on traditional favorites. The inside of the shop is larger than it looks with about 10 tables, plenty of seating, and a mini market.

I was in the area so I stopped in to check it out check. They were getting ready to close up shop, as it was close to 6:00, but the staff were really friendly and helpful. The store was really clean and there was plenty of parking available. They have several spices, tea, cheeses, etc. to choose from. I grabbed some of the string cheeses, green tea, and some of the house made feta to go. They have four different types of feta at the deli, I got the least salty one and used it for a salad when I got home. It was fantastic and a half block of it was $3.65. I also grabbed a small piece of the baklava, which was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back to try some more of their unique specialties.

The food is soooooo good here. I typically order the chicken shawarma or atomic chicken but to be honest everything on the menu is fresh, delicious and made with love. The baklava is 100 percent worth every calorie. The parking is god awful. I often find myself driving around the block multiple times to get a spot or parking in street if available. Obviously that's no fault of the business.

After seeing their presentation on the Phantom Gourmet, we decided to try this place for lunch. And mama did say that when a restaurant is full, the food will be good. Well, they did deliver on the food as we tried the Sampler Heaven, a Supreme Gyro and a Babaganoush Wrap. All were delicious and there was just so much food to enjoy. The only minuses were the lack of Handicap Parking, and the plating of the food could have been much better, as they just served everything on unclean trays; and they are stingy with utensils. The small grocery area had some delicacies that we wish to sample on future visits.

I like that there's seating inside. At least you can relax a little bit for lunch. Service was fast and easy and polite. Food had great flavors. However, we each got roast beef sandwiches. There was only one slice of meat and the entire sandwich was loaded with the veggies that came on it. Personally, I won't go back because I paid for a roast beef sandwich but basically ate a salad sandwich. But again, the flavor was amazing.

A Mediterranean deli! They have a parking lot but sometimes it can be packed. So there is street parking. There is a store front on the right side of the deli that sells pasta, sauce and Mediterranean items. The left side is where there is seating after ordering. Fairly large deli and clean. The deli has some great sandwiches and the salads are huge. The atomic bomb was absolutely delish with the pesto Mayo and the french baguette. The bluto salad is large and you could have two meals out of it. The salad and sandwiches are worth the price.They have multiple people taking orders, ringing out and making the food. All pleasant.

Quick and delightful service at this deli near Rolfe Square. It's a bit out of the way but worth the detour off Reservoir Avenue. They have a small grocery area with Mediterranean food and sweets, along with a great selection of spices for reasonable prices. The deli is the show stopper. I got a sampler with a delicious assortment of Mediterranean snacks anchored by a generous portion of house pita chips. The Tabbouleh salad is perfectly balanced with hummus and stuffed grape leaves, along with olives. The traditional gyro is overflowing with tender meat in a soft fresh wrap. Don't forget a baklava finger to finish the meal.Lots of seating inside their spotless dining room. Kid friendly and accessible with a clean bathroom. A nice little lunch time adventure!
