What a great summer night it was yesterday! Perfect for outdoor dining at Solas! We walked over to Boylston street checking out places to eat and stopped by here - looked really nice with the lights and seating outside, so decided to eat here. We were seated immediately- it was after 8:30 closer to 9 so easier to get a table on a Saturday night! Pro tip - go a bit later to avoid the crowd if you're okay eating at that time. Our server was lovely, brought over waters- I asked for wedge of lemon for my water and we ordered right away too. I ordered the roasted salmon and the hubs got the shepherds pie. The server remembered my lemon and brought a little cup with a few wedges! The food was alright, salmon itself was cooked well crispy on the outside and tender flaky inside but really lacked flavor - needed to be seasoned. I guess I could have stinker salt and pepper on top but me not the same as when it's seasoned before it's cooked. There was a side of kale, peas and a lot of mashed potatoes. The hubs thought the shepherds pie was ok and also felt it was a bit mild. He was glad that it was not a huge portion as sometimes it can be as he wasn't too hungry but was able to finish it all. Nice to see the hustle and bustle on Boylston street. Good experience overall.

Such a fun vibe inside and it got pretty crowded on a Tuesday night. Definitely a place to go to for after work dinner or drinks. Our server was nice and gave my friend and I space to catch up after dropping off our food.I love comfort food and I can definitely say the chicken pot pie made me feel comforted - it was delicious. My friend enjoyed her chicken curry as well. I plan to go back and try the shepherds pie next.

Looking for a good Irish pub. Solas was near where I was staying and I had a hankering for a pint of Guinness and some fish & chips. I also wanted some Irish whiskey so I ordered a Jameson's Black Barrel. The service was quick and attentive. The fish was very flaky and the coating tasty. While not true English fish and chips it was very good. The ambiance was of a traditional Irish pub (dark wood and low ceilings) I just wish there was some Irish music playing.

Updated review: I came here again while in town for a conference and we had great service. We had a cozy table upstairs and it was a great setting for a cold November night. We had the buffalo cauliflower, which was very tasty and we also had a butterscotch pudding for dessert, which was delicious. Our drinks were good too and it's a solid Irish pub and one that we would visit again when we're in town.

Wait to be seated. Waiter was excellent: friendly, knew his job well. Interior is comfortable. The food is meh. My corned beef was fatty. The 'spicy' chicken wasn't. Plenty of fries.Bathroom is in the hotel lobby they rent space from. Out the interior door, a few steps up, on the right.

We were seated outside today at 11:45 this morning just before the lunch rush. Fifteen minutes later we left the restaurant after no one came to take our order or serve us etc. Service certainly not on par with the Lenox Hotel.

Worth it, yes. But it is basic nothing great. Enjoyed the experience and sitting outside in the back bay. 3 stars is exactly right. If you are hungry and happen to see it not being crowded stop in, don't wait if there is a line (more than 1 in front of you).

Fantastic experience here at Solas. We were in town for a short time and wanted to experience an Irish pub while in Boston. We just sat at the bar for a couple of pints. Guinness was fresh and wonderful. My husband had the seasonal Sam Adams that was on tap. All around a good experience and would definitely go back. Loved the atmosphere. We just had a drink while we were waiting for our dinner reservations down the street at a steakhouse, but had we not had those reservations we definitely would have eaten here because the food and desserts looked delicious!
