Had a blast visiting Small Cheval yesterday. AWESOME staff, great food! The outdoor space was perfect to relax after a day in the sun - they have plenty of covered and non covered seating. Some of the best French fries I've ever had!

Its a $10 burger, I dont really know what else to say. I really just rather go to in and out or shake shack. We came since we couldnt make it to Au Cheval, but maybe it was just over expectations, it was a pretty mid burger. Standard. Nothing crazy. Thin like a smash burger, but still enough bite left in the thickness of the patty.

This was my first experience at small cheval and thought it was underwhelming. Definitely overhyped. I ordered the cheeseburger with lettuce and tomatoes. The burger was so average and honestly a little dry. It's a decent sized burger but I think it's too expensive for how average it is.

I've been to the original Au Cheval in Fulton Market which was deemed one the of best burgers in the US. If you're trying to avoid the inevitable 30min+ wait since they don't take resys Small Cheval in this lil food court is the perfect option. Burger is prob 90% the quality you'd get from the original restaurant without the wait. Not typically a huge fan of burgers but this one was perfectly cooked and medium rare on the inside. There was juice squirting with every bite (watch out!) lol. Def worth the 10 min walk from my place. Would recommend going to the original Au Cheval in Fulton market if you put your name down for a reservation and go to a nearby bar while you wait. Place is extremely small so I wouldn't go here with more than 4 (6 max). It may or may not be worth it if you plan on a night of drinking after.

Small Cheval is my favorite burger place ever. The burgers are the best I've had and the fries are crispy and salty and amazing. The patties are thin enough that I like getting the double (I don't like burgers that are too thick) but thick enough that you're still getting a lot of meat. The only slight issue is that my burgers have been cooked differently on different occasions, so sometimes it's more pink than I would like, so be aware of that and maybe specify how you would like it cooked if you're particular about that. You order at the counter here and then grab the open seating at the picnic tables here. There are mostly long ones where you will be sitting at the same table with other groups when it's busy, but that's always been fine. Also, it's dog-friendly! I always see many cute dogs hanging out here and love when I get to pet them.

Great burgers. Great fires. Fast. Clean. And best of all, CHEAP gluten free options. Either wrap in lettuce or get a gf bun, only $1.50 extra. Alcohol kinda on the expensive side. Had a can of rose ($8), which wasn't the best, but paired decently with the burger.

Great spot. Au Cheval's little brother. Walked in the rain to get there and the quality of the burger and fries holds up and was worth it. Quality burger for a casual outing. I feel like this was how it felt when Shake Shack was starting it's big buzz but I like the quality of this burger and their fries a lot more. Not to mention they make a solid strawberry shake also.Maybe I liked this between two buildings alley to get a burger spot more than Au Cheval cuz it felt like a neighborhood find just north of all the Rusk St. restaurants. Worth a check out while you're in town if you want a quick bite between doing things. But it's a heavy one so come hungry.

Totally overrated for what is basically a greasy burger on a bun. Over priced and for $9.99 you could get a better burger pretty much anywhere else. AND Small Cheval charges 89 cents EXTRA for lettuce which was one piece of cheap ice burg lettuce. Seriously?
