The hot dog is good and my son enjoyed his burger but I ordered potato salad and received cole slaw instead. When they handed me the food, they even said that they included a fork for the potato salad. I already had cole slaw on the hot dog. I was looking forward to the potato salad. They need to double check things. There was no one in front of or behind me in the drive-thru line.

I wanted the Maxwell St polish. Both were a little burnt but decent. Fries were not tasty. I doubt I'll be back and I would not recommend

Came here with my husband for lunch on the weekday. It was busy but the line and service were fast and staff were very friendly and helpful! We ordered the chicago dog, fries, and corn dog. Everything came out hot and fresh and tasted great! Definitely come back again to try other things! Plenty of seating inside and some outside.

3.5 ~ I had been wanting to try Skip's for four years now. My hubby and I originally thought we might end up in Avondale Estates upon moving to GA, so it would've been convenient. We ended up not moving to that area, and I forgot about this place for a little bit. Time passed and I had tried Baby Al's a few times - which I'm a big fan of and which is much closer to me. A few months ago, my mom and I decided to order a delivery lunch from here. We got the Italian beef dipped with cheese, a tamale, onion rings, and a pizza puff to share. Everything arrived hot and fresh even with the distance. The Italian beef was good and flavorful. It was not as big as the ones I get from Baby Al's though. The pizza puff was delicious. I know it's just a microwaveable good, but I hadn't had one in forever, so it was nice for the nostalgic factor. The onion rings were perfectly breaded and cooked but had no seasoning on them. Finally, the tamale was not at all what I expected. It was very small and not really impressive at all. It's not far off from the canned kind if you've ever tried that, just a step up on freshness. Overall, it was a decent meal. They do not seem to have mild sauce as I requested some if available, but none was given. I would get the Italian beef again and pizza puff if I'm in the area, but do not recommend the onion rings or tamales. The Chicago dogs on the site look good, but once again, I usually go to Baby Al's for my Chicago food fix. I still need to try Fingerz and Rickettes one day as I've heard good things about both places as well. Having lived in Chicago for 2.5 years, so far Baby Al's is more on point with what I'm used to, but this isn't a bad spot by any means. I would go with the Chicago dogs from what I've seen or Italian beef if you're in the neighborhood.

5 stars for hotdog, 3 stars for service, and 0 stars for Italian beef sandwich. Being my first time here, you would think that the cashier would let you know or tell you the offerings since the sandwich comes dry with no onions, etc. Mine came with nothing but two big green peppers since I didn't want the spicy peppers. I was very disappointed considering most of the reviews raved about the Italian beef sandwich. The au jus was spicy, and the beef was tough, and nothing more than sliced roast beef from a deli market. Also, based on the other pictures from reviews, my sandwich was very skimpy on the meat. The fries were decent, and the hot dog was really good.

Been my favorite hot dog place for 40+ years. We moved away and went other places and now my daughter lives in Avondale and it has become our spot to meet. Lots of change but Skips is still here. And still as good as I remem

I used to love Skip's, being from Chicago it was a welcome taste of home but it's really gone downhill over the last couple years. Cold food on several occasions, declining quality, dry/stale buns. Also, price increases which seem a bit excessive and the "sauce policy" is just cringe. Hopefully they get it together, because they used to be something special.

This place is great, food is good, they have that quick drive thru feel. Prices are inflated and they are al a cart for soon items. Their inside is busy also but I have been served with food customer service when I have gone. Service is quick basic ambiance on the inside. Polish is definitely Chicago style
