To be honest, I would never drive out of my way to eat at Silver Palace 银宫 for Chinese buffet. You must know something, Chinese buffet doesn't necessarily serve authentic Chinese food. By looking at who actually eat here. Majority of patrons were Hispanic when I was here during lunch on a weekday. Since my foodie friend "loved" it, I had to check it out to prove him right. Also, it was only $12.99 for lunch. I could eat a simple lunch elsewhere for as the same price. Either way, I decided to check it out. So, it has standard Chinese buffet dishes and some other dishes belong to Chinese buffet in Texas. Such as pizza, Cajun seafood, baked potatoes, French fries and chicken nuggets etc. My first round to the buffet is usually what I want to eat as a pig (something I shouldn't eat because of health concern). I picked pork bbq ribs, chicken skewer, fried noodles and green beans. My second round is usually healthier options. That's when I began to notice, most of items were bland. I wonder if they don't want people to complain about Chinese food or they want people to season themselves. Hot and sour soup had no flavor, not hot nor sour. In fact, it was not even salty. Vietnamese spring roll was not tightly wrapped. I took a bite and everything just fell out. Fried dumpling had a solid meat filling. Because it was so solid, I can't get my fork out of the dumpling. Sushi was pretty but I couldn't taste the imitation crab. There were tasty dishes like stir fried clams (label says mussel), baked swai fish (Chinese catfish), pepper steak and kimchi (at fruit bar). Next time, if I ever come here, I would not order hot tea. They charged me $2.75 for tasteless jasmine tea. There were 2 bags. I think if they put 10 bags in there, it would still be tasteless because they used inferior tea from China. The ambiance looked nice with some Chinese and western decor. According to the sign, it was open since 1994. I had a feeling they stayed open during Covid pandemic. The floor tiles looked old but not dirty. Buffet line looked neat, except employees put the food fell out of tray back to the tray. Oh my.

Peeps. I got to agree with my Elite team. This place deserves more stars! My first time and grabbed some food to go and the portions and amount of protein they gave me would make you think I've been going there for years. They packed it for me. Thank you! Next time can I have more soy sauce?

There's a saying that the best Chinese places are always between three and four stars. Unless you're fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese, don't expect five star restaurant service at Chinese buffet, but you can bet you're going to get amazing taste on amazing value.Silver palace is very upscale for Chinese buffet, and there is plenty of seating with a clean atmosphere and bustling staff. If I recall correctly, getting dinner here is about $18, and you can get mountains of beef and chicken to meet your protein needs-- in fact, that's exactly my use case for Silver Palace! If you're starving and need an obscene amount of protein, Silver Palace rolls with the best. Last time I was here, I must have downed over 3 pounds of chicken/beef.I'd come here if you're in the area, after a heavy workout, and/or with friends. Unlike most Chinese buffets, neighborhood is pretty nice; just don't go comparing it to nearby West University restaurants, there's nothing quite like it.

Honestly idk why so many people left 1 star reviews. If you're looking for "Chinese"-Chinese food, this is obviously not the place. The place is an American Chinese style buffet, the price is so cheap (I think 15 per person? You order from any chinese restaurant - even Panda Express, that price only get you one dish), why are you expecting luxurious 5 star level experience? I thought the food was pretty good considering it's price - the taste is very authentic American-Chinese food. I liked the spicy fried chicken cubes (don't remember the actual name), everything in the fried station (except the spring roll tasted a little spoiled tho, but that's how I think spring rolls taste in general lol), little almond cookies and tiramisu. The corn + garlic bread are also really good! The baked white fish was a little tasteless, and I steered clear from all other seafood + sushi (tips for beginners with weak stomach: if you don't wanna get sick, don't get the raw dishes). The services were amazing. They were accommodating with the fact that we have a stroller and a infant with us. When my husband accidentally spilled his water, the waitress quickly moved us to another table while she cleaned up the spillage, so we don't end up getting wet and can get back to enjoying our food. I give it a 10/10 for perfect match of our expectations + extra points for excellent customer service.

I've had some mixed experiences here, but overall, this is one of the better Chinese buffets in town, and for the price it simply can't be beat.My then-girlfriend and I came by to eat here several times when dating, and all of the 70+ options were always fresh cooked and delicious. It really became a preferred go-to location for us.Unfortunately, in the years before the pandemic, our visits were punctuated by mediocre quality food that seemed like it was both rush prepared and managed to dry out from being left out on the buffet for too long.In recent years, we've given the buffet additional chances, especially to support an old favorite that managed to survive the pandemic, and thankfully the issues from 2018-2019 seem to be resolved. The food is back to being properly prepared and not sitting out too long.Of course, if you're looking for authentic Chinese food, you are on the wrong side of Bellaire. If you don't mind some Americanized Chinese food, and lots of it at a cheap price, this place is well worth a visit.

It's been a very long time since I ate here when they opened before a moved on the out skirts of Houston. I was extremely impressed with the staff, they opened the door to us, seated us promptly, very friendly and courteous. The food was excellent, fresh and a variety from Sushi, soups, a huge array of chicken, beef, vegetables, seafood dishes and a delicious dessert bar of fresh fruit, sesame balls, almond cookies, cheesecake and soft ice cream.
