We had great expectations about this Michelin one-star restaurant, particularly given the challenge finding high-quality omakase outside of Miami Beach. Sadly, we were disappointed.Even just trying to understand what will be served is a mystery. The website is useless, not providing a sample menu or any hint of the available wines and sake. Reservations are hard to come by- you'll need to reserve on Tock and pay an exorbitant $225 per person in advance. It's difficult to find the restaurant. Google Maps is no help, because it's located in the interior of a courtyard, and is not well-marked. It's a decent space, and Shingo himself is personable. Even though our party was celebrating a special occasion, they seated us at the awkward end of the counter. The dinner otherwise started off well, with a complimentary glass of Ayala Champagne (although the waitress did not make it clear that it was complimentary, so clarification was needed). We were pleased to learn that much of the fish is flown in from the famed Toyosu market. But then, the rest of the meal was a major disappointment. The Boomamoto oysters with cucumber ponzu were a reasonable starter, but the sous chef incorrectly said Boomamotos are from Boston (no one would want to eat an oyster from the Boston Harbor), rather than Cape Cod. The remaining courses were forgettable. It's hard to complain about getting Chu-Toro or O-Toro, the luxuriously fatty treasured tuna cuts, but somehow they were rendered underwhelming by the preparations. There was big fanfare about the sushi rice, but we've had better. The only standout was a handroll I requested with uni, but beware that this will set you back and additional $47. The insidious 20% "service charge" tacked onto anything extra you order during the dinner (including Sake and tea) is ridiculous. And don't expect a quite, relaxed ambience: with limited seating at the counter, loud parties who insist on face-timing will disrupt your meal.If you still choose to go to Shingo, avoid the expensive valet by parking on the street. If you're searching for a true and satisfying Michelin-star omakase meal in South Florida, go to the Den at Azabu instead.

[The Best Sushi Restaurant]Excellent omakase restaurant! It is high-end and worth the price! I am very critical of sushi restaurants, but this one met all my criteria as one of the best. The sushi was outstanding, and the service was top-notch! I highly recommend pairing service with your omakase. You will not regret it.With a small crowd, you can actually get real sushi information, and the atmosphere was intimate and social! I even made a new friendDefinitely recommending this sushi restaurant!

From the moment you step into SHINGO, you are transported into a world where culinary artistry meets tradition. The intimate setting, with its minimalist décor and calming ambiance, sets the stage for a truly remarkable omakase experience. The restaurant's elegant yet understated interior creates a serene environment, allowing diners to focus entirely on the culinary journey ahead. The service is impeccable--attentive without being intrusive, with staff demonstrating a deep understanding of the dishes and their origins. Chef Shingo himself is a master at his craft, bringing both passion and precision to every dish he presents. The omakase menu at SHINGO is a meticulously curated sequence of courses, each showcasing the freshest seasonal ingredients. The meal begins with a series of delicate appetizers, each a testament to Chef Shingo's ability to balance flavors and textures.

OH my Shingo. I had such high expectations of this place especially after receiving their first Michelin star. I could not wait but made a reservation for both me and my husband. We were both excited and nervous at the same time, but after recognizing that chef Shing, who used to work for Hiden, it put us in a peace of mind. The omakase experience was great, from start to finish. Chef Shingo and the team did a great job with their seasonal menu and fish pairing. All wonderful and great until we ended our dinner with a little friend joining us .... SPIDER. I'm sure this is not a norm, but it def takes away from the stars rating. I think this place is a good one time experience. Giving the price. Usually I will give a place 1-2 stars if I see any kind of pest in their dinning area, but I cannot diminish the fact the omakase was very well prepared. So out of respect for Chef SHINGO I give it a 3 star. It would've been a 4 -5 if the restaurant's pest control is a little more strict.

Came here with two friends on a Wednesday night to celebrate a birthday and new job. This place is pricey and generally requires a reservation weeks in advance, but it's a really nice experience! The space is beautiful, food is delicious, and service is excellent. Since we were a group of 3 they sat us at the end of the table, so we didn't really get to see the food being prepared which was a bit of a disappointment. I'd say keep that in mind if you plan on going in a group. Shingo isn't a place I necessarily need to come back to, but I'm happy I got to try it and I think it's worth a visit if you enjoy sushi.

I spent 1 month in Japan with my husband for our honeymoon and I must say that we haven't been to any establishments in Miami that mirror the traditional omakase experience of Japan with the exception of Shingo. The quality of the food and fish was top notch and prepared with the utmost diligence and passion right in front of you. All the nigiris melted in your mouth. The decoration is traditional and beautiful. The attention to detail and speed of service was unlike anything we have experienced. This is another Miami food gem and I can't wait to go again. Thanks for making our Valentine's Day so special!

I had the pleasure of trying the Omakase experience from Shingosan, and it was definitely hands down one of the best sushi spots in MIAMI 101%!The decor, cool calm vibes felt like i was back Japan for sure. I like the simplicity and design of the overall place, with the bar counter style. Not only Sushi chef Shingo, there were also "Toro Papi" and "Arrel" who were perfectionists as well . Throughout the meal, of course we engaged conversation making the whole atmosphere laugh and lively! The other staff were cool as well... Kaori was one of the main ladies who will show you the experience as well. Parking was easy and the location is a nice quiet spot. Now for the food! Lets get to the food... Actually i'll just let the pics do the talking! Like i said prior this place is hands down the best sushi place in Miami!

The most unique (and pricy) sushi experience ever. Course, by course by course, they will guide you through a chefs choice menu of sushi and paired sake. Be prepared to leave a little tipsy, and perhaps a little hungry. Excellent food and service. For the price....
