Employees and service were awesome and the cheesesteaks were even better! If you're visiting, I would also recommend to get the hot honey chips they have, they go great with the cheesesteak! The atmosphere around the restaurant is nice, and the employees helped us to fit our party of 9, which was super helpful!

Stopped by for lunch and had the prime rib Philly. They serve actual steak that you choose. There isn't any 'steak-em' meat here. They serve premium steak and chicken Philly subs.Atmosphere: A- clean and efficient but it can be very bright sitting by the window at lunch. Also, the gregarious owner 'holds court' and often pleasantly interacts with guests.Food: A+ fresh high quality meats and ingredients with great buns too. Subs are only one size but generously filled.Value: C+ even though they sell premium items I felt that the price was a little high. It's still a sub sandwich served over a counter on a paper plate for around $25...without a side or a drink.Overall, I recommend this restaurant. I would go back but only when I'm really hungry to make sure I finish my pricey meal.

This place is really unreal. Not sure I've ever had a better cheesesteak in my life. You can tell the owner is a passionate about what he does and that carries over to his food and staff. Can't wait to come back soon.

I was looking for a great Philly cheese steak on the drive down to D.C., and boy am I glad we stopped by Shay's Steaks.I actually went in planning to order a Wagyu cheese steak, but I didn't see it on the kiosk and ended up ordering a prime rib cheese steak instead. Obviously using premium cuts of beef makes a huge difference. Probably the best cheese steak I've ever had, and definitely better than anything I've had from the cheese steak places back at home.Scott, the owner, is definitely a character. I didn't believe it at first, but apparently he is a judge that also moonlights as a restauranteur! Eating there is absolutely an experience. He is completely hands on, and you constantly hear his voice booming as he orchestrates the show from the kitchen and front of the house. If I were to describe it, I would say the atmosphere is energetic, with a touch of chaos. I'm sure most of his antics are meant to be entertaining, but I can't help but think it's also his way of coping and making light of the day-to-day craziness of running a food establishment.Shay's is without a doubt a must-visit again in the future. I can't imagine that balancing a day job and the high energy required working at Shay's is sustainable for the long haul though. I'm hoping their business model and the systems and processes they have in place are working for them and they continue to thrive - the world needs more premium cheese steak shops!

Amazing cheesesteak! One of the best I've had in Philly, if not the best. Different cuts of meat to choose from, and I got the prime rib with grilled onions, peppers and Cooper sharp white. Ate in-store and it came out steaming hot. I'm told that Cooper sharp white is creamy and melts perfectly. The picture might make it look dry, but it was the opposite. Super moist and flavorful!The man at the counter was super helpful with the options. You put your order in at the kiosk and then wait. The Apple / Google directions can't seem to pinpoint this spot. It's on the corner of Race St and 16th St.

This is an absolute gem of a place located right by Logan Square / City Hall owned by Scott who's a judge by day and chef by night. The phenomenal cheesesteaks paired with wonderful service here had me coming back twice in the span of 5 days while I was in Philly!On my first visit here, my fiance and I stumbled upon this place a stone's throw from our hotel and were greeted by Scott outside of the restaurant. He proceeded to give us a full run-down of Shay's Steaks, and he was truly such a personable individual who makes you feel right at home. We ordered one NY strip cheesesteak to split, and it was hands down the best cheesesteak I've had. The meat is fresh (never frozen) and high quality, the bread has a crisp on the outside and is soft on the inside, and all the flavors just came together perfectly.I ended up getting a few of my friends to come here a few days later to experience these cheesesteaks with me, and the food was just as good as the first time. Scott was also whipping up some fries that he was testing, so he gave us a few to try during our meal!All in all, I don't know when I'll next be back in Philly but I know I'm making a stop here when I do :)

Okay so you will need help ordering your sandwich. The steak can be seasoned different ways so you have to pick your desired seasoning. Now I was told that the buttered was the most popular. These steaks are simple. No lettuce. No tomatoes. Just steak, cheese and or (pepper/mushrooms/hot pepper) My sandwich was nice and hot and flavorful. Now on the customer service side they are ok. They did run out of mayo and I had to ask for ketchup. This place can be busy so customer service didn't influence my rating. But it can use some improvement

Great service, great food! Shay was so nice and were definitely coming back! The food tasted so good as well. First time in Philly Shay set the bar very high!

Scott is the husband of Jackie the owner of the business. Honestly he is one of the nicest most energetic people ever. He interacts with his customers and gives great laughs all around. Not only was the customer service amazing the cheesesteaks were great, no not great but absolutely amazing the steak is fresh and the cheese and onions I had with it complemented the whole meal. I had a great time hear and Scott lit up the day. If I could leave 10 stars I would.
