I was so excited to return to this place now that I'm back in Houston. I am so disappointed. This place has gone downhill. The kibbeh was warmed up in the microwave and was very soft. It didn't taste fresh at all. I ordered the small eggplant and it was served cold. The gyro sandwich was pretty awful. The meat seemed like it was frozen pieces from Costco. The tzatziki isn't even homemade. It's from a bucket. This was definitely a very disappointing visit. It's nothing like it used to be to be. There is also water leaking from the ceiling with no bucket in sight. I will not be returning and that makes me pretty sad. The one star is for the customer service. The guy at the counter was friendly.

Not a bad lil casual place. It's quick and tasty, perfect for to go. They are counter service. I've been here a few times with mixed results. If you come when it's busy, you get nice hot fresh food. If you come when it's not so busy, you will get barely warm food. I wish they would cook to order when it's not busy instead of serving cold previously prepared food. Prices are good. I guess if you want fresh food, you know when to come. Otherwise expect disappointment.

So disappointed to see our staple for Shamarwas has been sold or changed. My son noticed after he tasted the Shamarwa. We asked me where I bought it.. The Tabouli was dry, Baba Ghangoush was good. No longer the hot Entrées, as before. The counter staff was very cordial, but when I saw the Chicken for the Shamarwa already precut and in a warming tray that was it for me. Sadly.

Gyro shawarma (3/5) Standard shawarma. Nothing special about it. The meat wasn't very greasy and veggies were fresh. It wasn't very filling. Beef shawarma (2.5) Similar to the gyro but a little greasier. Hummus (3/5) Creamy and cold. I'm not a fan of the thin pita.

Amazing food! I can see why they are called Shawarma King. They have some of the BEST shawarma in all of Houston. On this visit, I ordered the Mix Shawarma Sandwich and the Kafta Plate. The meats are so tender and flavorful. They pair perfectly with their soft pita bread and white tahini sauce. Overall, I had a great time at this spot. The food was delicious and at very reasonable prices. If I am ever around the area, I will be sure to come back.

I needed a haircut at Star Hair Salon. Before my barber cut my hairs. I ordered food here. I had no idea about Middle Eastern Food. The lady who took my order showed me the food. I ordered Chicken. I went to the barber. After my barber finished my haircut, I went to Shawarma King. I was wondering if she could recognize me because I got the haircut. I might look like another person. However, she gave me the chicken. Thank you for recognizing me! LOL. The chicken was awesome!

This used to be one of the best hidden gems in town. The food was always fresh. Now it just feels likes I'm one bite away from a stomach bug. The food is never fresh tasting anymore. The bathrooms are disgusting. No soap or paper towels are the least of the issues in there. The service is sub par at best. And they usually mess up the order. How did it go downhill so fast? It was phenomenal time after time for many years.

This is a great place for a tasty, inexpensive meal. We love their beef shawarma and usually take it to go. It is very flavorful and filling! The restaurant is fairly small but nice inside and has a few tables if you would rather dine in. If you are looking for side dishes, I would recommend the hummus and eggplant.

I really try hard not to rate halal places low because we need them to drive, and I'm always on the lookout to try and help out local places and I want them to prosper, but unfortunately this is gonna have to be the last time I come to Shawarma King.I've been coming here for over 10 years when I used to go to school in the South side, and so I was excited to go there again after a while and grab a quick bite to eat, but the Kibbe was soft and not crunchy (although I will say the meat inside of it tasted good) but it was definitely not freshly cooked. The bread on the wrap was just okay, and it was not very full, felt like the meat was skimped on. The shawrma just was not up to par on how they were before, and how other places are in the area. Fries were fine. The only reason they don't have one star and got two stars, is because I called my order ahead and at least had my order ready, unlike many times before, when they would take a lot longer to get the food ready and I would have to wait inside. I used to be more forgiving on the wait time because at least the food would be fresh and delicious. That is not the case anymore. You also have to ask for napkins, sauce, every little thing and they don't just give it to you. And for these reasons, I'm out.
