Shanghai Bistro

Went here for Christmas and then went again last night for a birthday. The service is good and everybody is really nice. The food is good and everybody enjoyed it. We got a variety of things and even the toddlers loved the spring rolls, Miso soup, and fried rice. Spicy is pretty spicy here too, as my 10 year old got the mapo tofu and asked for a little spicy. He usually eats pretty spicy food but said it was almost too spicy. There were 7 of us (including 2 toddlers) and we sat at the big table. It had a really cool Lazy Susan in the middle so it made sharing easy. Small, locally owned vibe, which we love. They did automatically charge a gratuity because of the size of our party, I presume. I understand why places do that, but we would have tipped more if they hadn't.

Just ok. Had better Asian food in other places. Was hoping to find a good place since moving here to TX.

Was referred here by a friend and so glad we came! The service was nice, the food came out hot and it was fresh. Loved the egg rolls!! The egg drop soup is to die for! Kinda hard to find this behind the woods and other buildings! Very clean and comfy booths.

The woodlands is such a forest that you can have an ice, little neighborhood restaurant next door to you and not know about it unless you pull up the map. This restaurant was one of those. Turns out it was the closest Asian restaurant to my house, but I didn't have a clue until he yelp told me about it. This is a good traditional chinese restaurant. Take out or eat in. Comfortable booths. Excellent service. Fairly generic Cantonese Chinese. I would suggest you start at the back of the menu. Tere, you'll find the dinner specials. For 14.95, you can have a complete meal. Including, Soup, appetizers. Main dish. Beverages are also quite reasonable at 250. We had two different pots of tea and they were both good, but go with the jasmine.We ordered two similar chicken dishes. I had the ubiquitous. General Tsao chicken. My wife ordered sesame chicken. They were an identical sauce but one of course, had a great deal of spice added. Overall, i probably should have gone with the sesame. Chicken was excellent. Fresh chicken breast tender. The rice was well done. The vegetables were just right, everything, as i expected. Solid four stars.

This is one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in The Woodlands. The vibe is pretty casual but the food is great. They have some unique dishes that you can't find at a lot of other Chinese restaurants in this area. There is a lot of variety on the menu and it goes far beyond basic "Americanized" Chinese food with a great mix of traditional dishes as well. As you can see, the portion sizes are huge. The quality is excellent and a great value. They also have a great lunch special. Service is quick and friendly.

HUGE portions + some of the best mapo tofu i've ever had - for $11 this was amazing - easily worth way more!!

So happy to have found a place with authentic Asian food close to home. Ambiance was pleasant, has good parking space. Family-style dining is always good for us so their portions were just right. Definitely recommending their crispy chili chicken! This is what I come back for the most.

We ordered the General Tsos Shrimp and the dinner special General Saos Chicken. They both come with pretty big portions and the dinner special came with and egg roll, crab Rangoon, and soup. Overall pretty good for typical Chinese takeout and they have one of the better general tsos sauces I've tried. My bf loves this place and went back twice in the same week after trying it. Would recommend.

The best gluten free rice noodles! Although the woodlands has a vast variety of food, the options for gluten free noodles/pasta is slim. I called ahead and ordered the flat rice noodles and added chicken. They were awesome and I got so much food! For those who are allergic to gluten or cannot eat it, this place is awesome when you get a noodle craving!
