As we approached, the line of locals and tourists hinted at something great - or maybe just a really popular fire drill? But no, it lived up to the hype! First off, can we talk about the name? I seriously regret not snagging some merch; "Biscuit Bitch" would look great to rock! Now, onto the scrumptious stuff. We dove into the Hot Mess and the Biscuit with gravy and scrambled eggs. Absolute perfection! The grits were like a smooth jazz concert for my taste buds, and those biscuits? Lol They practically did a happy dance in that gravy lake of deliciousness! The customer service was absolutely amazing!! Such nice people! I love it! Next time I'm back in Seattle- I'm trying the Biscuit wiches! Please take me back for more!!"

"Some good fried chicken and a good chicken sandwich can be had at this small and nondescript family run place.The owners work here and are very nice. The space is small but clean. Service is attentive.The food was good. There has been much written about this being the best chicken sandwich in Seattle. Nah. It's good, but mine formed a puddle of grease in the five minutes that it sat before I ate it. Greasy to the point that the bread of the bun became soaked in grease. Taste was good, but not a "wow. that's amazing" kind of good. Just "that's good" and nothing more. Fried chicken was okay. Nothing to write home about. And the leftovers didn't get eaten at our place. That's not a good sign. Leftover, cold fried chicken is always popular here. This wasn't.I'd consider this place if I was in the area and hungry for chicken. But I'd probably check out some of the other small restaurants (including fried chicken ones) in the area first."

"For dinner one night when my parents and I came to Oak Harbor to visit my grandma in early October 2022, we chose The BBQ Joint for the supplier of the protein of the meal. My grandma, dad, and I all went to the store to pick up the ribs after ordering them in advance. In addition to the rack of ribs, we got a container of the their BBQ sauce. The workers were friendly and it was simple and clear how to pick up the order. The interior decor matched the restaurant cuisine.Back at the house we kept the ribs warm in the oven until dinner time and they were finger-linking good when we sat down and ate. The meat was tender and not too fatty and the BBQ sauce flavorful. Fun family dinner experience."

Every so often the staff comes out to ask and to help the new folks order! I'm from the South and my grandmas would have been chasing the staff down to wash their mouths out with soap and shaking a finger at 'em for their gruff ways. My grandmas made great biscuits, but they never made great biscuits like these bitches can!SERIOUSLY, if you are in town, you HAVE to try this place. Absolutely love that!The food took a bit longer, but they let us know as soon as we ordered cause they make em FRESH!For an entrée of fried chicken and 2 sides, it was $22. You do get 4 whole chicken wings!Here is where I'm a bit torn...I thought the fry/crispiness was great on the wings, but the fries could've used another minute or 2.The flavor was also good, but could've used a tad bit more salt. (Disclaimer - I didn't use any sauce). The chicken was not the juiciest, but it was still good. The potatoes had great flavor and the Mac & cheese was not to my personal liking as this is a drier Mac and cheese and I prefer a creamier, saucier, Mac. So overall, the food was good.My personal fave was surprisingly the cornbread and their can't miss sweet tea!Would I come back? Absolutely! I will probably try to fried catfish the next time."

"Ezell's was pretty solid. The chicken tenders and rolls were excellent. The chicken was crispy and tasty, the rolls didn't even need butter they were so good. Fries were just okay, as was the mac n cheese. The coleslaw was pretty good too though. Of the variety of dipping sauces we tried (bbq, bbq ranch, honey mustard) I thought they were all decent. The honey mustard was the best in my opinion. Overall if you're in the area and craving chicken tenders I would give them a shot."

"Been craving some fried chicken for a while, so I decide to check this place out. This is technically Jack's BBQ, just that this is a portion of the overall Jack's menu that provides chicken sandwiches and chicken tenders, at what seems to be a slightly lower price point than the actual BBQ items.I ordered online for pickup and the process is very smooth - just enter the restaurant, tell your name of the order, and they will grab it for you in the order table area. I ordered the chicken sandwich original with the all meat chili, and wow, the food is quite filling. The chicken within the sandwich is moderately crispy, but there wasn't much slaw in the sandwich to augment the flavor of the sandwich. Definitely not super impressive compared to other places I have tried, but it adequately satisfied my cravings. I wished the chicken to be crispier and the other ingredients accentuate the flavor more to balance out the very generous portions of chicken.The all meat chili is quite rich, and you can add onions, cheese, and sour cream if you wish. The chili is very flavorful and smoky, and with huge chunks of meat! It is a bit spicy and quite salty just for your information. The benefit is that there's not too much water and so there's a lot of meat in it to bulk up in protein As this place is quite close in proximity to where I live, I may some time in the future try the kickin' version of the sandwich to see how it goes."

Flavorful, juicy on the inside, perfectly crispy and crackly on the outside that brought back memories of the South/NC where I'm from. Solid place, although a bit out of the way. Certainly a place to try if you want to find very good fried chicken in the Seattle area."

"Crazy good BBQ *but* the sides are stars in and of themselves. While visiting family in the area they recommended we try Orlando's. By the time my aunt went to pick it up, they were out of their much-requested bourbon bbq sauce. If you want to try it, PRO TIP: go early. We had the ribs, macaroni and cheese, greens, candied yams, and cornbread. Man, oh, man. There are very few places in the Pacific Northwest that remind me of the barbecue joints of my former hometown of Atlanta. Orlando's is one of them. The ribs are deliciously fall-off-the-bone. They gave us two sauces: original and Mike's, which has mustard in it. We liked the original the best. Mike's was a tad too peppery for us; but if you like that peppery flavor, you'd like Mike's the best. The candied yams are to die for. The greens are well seasoned and the macaroni and cheese deserves an honorable mention. Even the cornbread is good.On a quiet Sunday it seemed like nobody was there, but that's because people were calling and ordering online. I suggest ordering in advance. We can't wait to go back and try the bourbon sauce and have a meal here again. I'm glad our family suggested Orlando's. We'll be back the next time we're in Oak Harbor!"

"This was attended on a food tour and I also bought food on my own. They had a number of different types of biscuits along with sandwiches as well. The food took some time to come out, but there were a lot of orders coming in it seemed like.A regular biscuit was tried on the food tour which was tasty. It was buttery and flaky. I also had a crab melt ($14.50) and the fried chicken sandwich ($12.75). The crab melt consisted of Dungeness crab with Beecher's and Tillamook cheeses with green onion on a butterhole biscuit. This was great. The crab mixed with the blends of cheeses combined with the flaky biscuit made for an appetizing sandwich. I would have preferred a little more filing, however. The fried chicken sandwich was a fried chicken thigh with mayo and pickles on a butterhole biscuit. This was my preferred choice of the two sandwiches. The chicken was crispy and went well with the biscuit. I also had pimento cheese ($4) that came with carrots. This was very good too. It was just so creamy and fresh.Will I go back? Yes."

Everyone got their food in a timely manner, and everything was perfect. Having had Hales food before by takeout, (and loving it) eating at the restaurant was another level of delicious!!! "We live just 5 minutes away from this amazing spot and finally got to have a kid free evening to take ourselves out on a date. We called a day or 2 before and reserved an outside table by the live music..so glad we did this it was beautiful out no need for a sweater. Music was wonderful! The service was on point my only tip would be to not ask if we want the bill til our food and drink was gone, but that's it. The food was beautifully plated, the wedge salad with picked blueberries was amazing I would get it over and over again! The mushroom risotto was so good, my husband doesn't like mushrooms so I never cook with them, so it was nice to order a me meal. His dinner was amazing he thoroughly enjoyed it as well, and we ended with the strawberry basil cheesecake and I could ear that everyday I'm a suckered for cheesecake and the crust was on point literally couldn't do it any better..we will be back thanks Chef Matt for coming and seeing how everyone's meal was bravo cooking such a beautifully delicious meal!!"

My husband definitely liked the flavor of the ribs and the brisket was your standard from a good BBQ place. Clyde's is definitely a gem for the otherwise hard to come by legit BBQ options in the Pacific Northwest. Not sure it's my favorite to be honest but definitely decent and appreciated the value!I think the potato salad stood out to me as the most unique of the things we tried. Everything else was on par with what I'd expect from a legit BBQ place."

Google maps is a little off, where it kept directing us to enter on 25th, but their entrance is right next to Amazon Fresh on 23rd and Jackson.Ordering is straight forward, you walk in and place your order at the counter then find a table. Their menus for breakfast and dinner are available all day. I went with their shrimp & grits, which I have been craving since binge watching "The Great Soul Food Cook-off", and their trio side sampler where you get to choose 3 sides.Simply Soulful's shrimp and grits exceeded my cravings. I thought the portion size was just right and love the textures of the grits, sauce and shrimp. Even with splitting the sides, I was feeling content and not stuffed. If I had to choose a favorite of the sides it would be the yams, but I definitely will get all 3 again.I personally thought the service at Simply Soulful is great, and I enjoy the laid back vibe of this restaurant. I look forward to coming back and tasting the rest of their menu."

The parking lot isn't huge, but fully accommodates the amount of tables inside for patrons. They have a great health score and the restaurant is clean and tidy. Everything is nice and neat. It gives all the nostalgia of eating at your aunty house, but without the nosey aunty. All the staff are wonderful. Very efficient and quick with the orders. I believe we met the owner/possible head chef on my visit today and he is everything!! Very personable and pleasant, however un-big-ing my back is going to be tough with hot fish house around. This is the best fried catfish po boy I've had in years. The bread was soft and hearty, the remoulade sauce is perfect, catfish fried to crispy perfection and the toast on that bun is dangerous. The po boy came with crinkle cut fries, which were also hitting the right spot and must have been fried to order. You can tell they weren't sitting under a light waiting to be served. We also ordered the mac and cheese, fried okra, catfish plate and two banana puddings with soda in the side. (Swing for the fences when it's black owned)The entire meal from start to finish was amazing. The banana pudding should be illegal. The mac and cheese is suitable for bringing to a black family gathering with no permission and not being cursed out. They will be asking "who made this," but in a good way. It's that good. The fried okra wasn't my favorite. I felt it lacked a little something. Spice or something? It was very simple though and I really can't complain. Highly suggest coming here and filling your belly up with a little piece of home. 10/10 recommend."

A word to first timers, the number you are given matches the table you are assigned. You can take yourself to it once the host gives you the thumbs up. I had no idea and stood there with my number for a few minutes till I overheard them explain that to another party. We started with the deviled eggs and the beet salad, out of the two, I loved the beets due to the blackberry infused honey in the dish - and whipped goat cheese is always a quick way to my heart. The eggs are a super fun experience too, so do what I did and order both. I also ordered the Fried Chicken Meal, because I really wanted to use it as a base to explore their menu. Holy Moly. If you're wondering how someone can make fried chicken be both satisfying and not greasy at all: This is the magical location. i was wow-ed with the entire dish, from the main to the slaw: I can see why this place is so highly rated and loved locally. My side choice was the grits, which I regret - those missed the mark for me and I was expecting something more along the lines of grits I've tried in the Carolinas. I thought they'd be lighter (just in flavor, I get that its grits y'all), but there was an deeper, more savory than expected element, almost smokey, to them. Some folks might like it, but since all the other flavors in my order were so robust, I was looking for a side to anchor it. Maybe the mac and cheese would have been a better choice and I look forward to trying it on my next visit. My dining partners had a line cook sammy and garlic herb chicken: I think the Garlic Herb Chicken and some of their rotisserie options (they were out this time around) will be on my next "to -order" list as well. Everyone was happy, cocktails in hand. A shout out for those who love a good vibe cause the interior design here is one-hundred. The upstairs is the place to be in my opinion, but I know locals love the heated patio too."

"I wanted southern food and I got southern food here. A cute restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Limited free street parking here though there is a paid parking lot next to it. Service was excellent! There was only one server on duty when I was there but it didn't feel like service was slow or lacking. Kamila was great in making recommendations when she found out I never had grits before. She told me how it could be eaten (plain, sugar and butter or salt and pepper). I got the chicken fried steak breakfast plate as it came with grits. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I ever eaten due to the seasoning. So delicious! If it's the same seasoning for the fried chicken and other fried stuff, I can see them being equally yummy. The biscuit was nice with butter and jam. I had the grits with butter and sugar. More sugar the better. It had a porridge (oatmeal) texture which I didn't really like. But now I know what grits taste like. I'll be back for the other stuff in future. Fried chicken. Fried okras. Fried catfish fillet. I saw someone ordered a hot chocolate and it came in a huge mug (mason jar) with lots of whipped cream. This place does not stint on the good stuff."

"This small & locally owned restaurant is only open a few days a week. It's run by a Pastor and you'll catch him running the front of the house. The place is quaint and the people are friendly. And the food here delivers in every possible way. If you appreciate Soul Food and/or Southern Food then this is the place for you. The cabbage here was everything I could ever ask for. I wanted more when I was done. The Mac & cheese didn't look like much to me but man did it serve on tastes. It was cheesy, seasoned and cooked just right.The fried chicken was cooked fresh and seasoned to perfection. My breast was still juicy and piping hot. Call ahead for to go orders or you'll spend your time waiting for the chicken to be fried. The peach cobbler here is not my preferred way to have as I like a pie crust with mine but oh my goodness, I took one bite and couldn't stop savoring this dessert. Do yourself and get you some. Open Fridays & Saturdays, and the menu slightly rotates weekly so check their website ( southerngrill1.com ) to check menu and confirm hours. This place is everything and more that I could ever ask for when it comes to good ole soul food."

"Came here with a party of 6 for some good eats amongst all the other eateries on this strip, this one brings a bit of Louisiana flavor to the PNW.Some of the selections we got were sharable appetizers including the Sausage plate which is advertised as house made. It included - platines & andouille giardiniera with some creole mustard and a baguette. They were well seasoned and presented.Had some of the catfish bites which were a bit too crispy, but tasted good especially with the Alabama sauce it comes with.I had the half-roasted chicken with sweet potato and a delicious sauce which name escapes me. Great presentation and tasted great. I don't believe it is currently available as I write this but would love to try that again.The food and service were great hear and glad the food group chose it. Would love to try another entree here."
