Having visited the new Seafood City twice now, and spending about $150 in total, I wanted to share my honest thoughts about the experience. First off, it's worth noting that the place itself is impressively clean, which is always a good sign when you're dealing with a food establishment. However, my main reason for writing this review is the Grill City section within Seafood City. There's no sugarcoating it--the wait times at Grill City are quite lengthy, and the organization (or lack thereof) among the staff is noticeable. It seems like a bit of chaos where everyone is busy, but efficiency and order are missing.Regarding the food from Grill City, I wish I could report a better experience. The BBQ was unfortunately hard as a rock and overly salty, the lechon was tough and lacked flavor, and while the lumpia was average (hard to mess up), it didn't really elevate the meal. The halo-halo was a hit the first time around but led to disappointment during my second visit. On that occasion, we waited over 20 minutes, only for our order to be overlooked and served to someone else. This brings me to a crucial point--the management's role in training their staff, particularly those making halo-halo. It appears there's a significant need for a strategic approach in preparing orders efficiently and correctly. The staff's disorganization and the resultant wait times can be frustrating for customers looking forward to enjoying what should be a delightful treat. While Seafood City shines in cleanliness and offers a promising variety of food, the experience at Grill City leaves much to be desired. The potential for a fantastic dining experience is there, but it hinges on better management, staff training, and organization.I hope to see improvements in these areas, as it would make the Seafood City experience as enjoyable as it ought to be.

Drove down to Seafood City to check out the place. We're from Washington/Oregon states and do frequent SeafoodCity in Seattle. Since our stay here in TX we were kind of excited to know Seafood City made it's way down here so we drove down last weekend and the place was packed. A long line to the Grill City food court and the Bakery was bustling with customers as well.We proceeded to the supermarket and just as we expected everything was the same though the prices has gone up like everything after pandemic. We were thrilled to know there's other places to go to for filipino food.Grill City food is good and I enjoyed the platter deal. We ordered the all meat and Mixed platter. We will try the seafood platter on our way to the beach next time.It was a fun drive and there's ample parking for shoppers to park their vehicle.

I was in the area on a Friday afternoon so I stopped by for a late lunch. I got in line but I was quickly approached by a woman with an ipad who explained that to get in line for the hot foods, you needed a reservation. She took my name and number and advised that I'd receive a text when it was time to get in line. I didn't notice a sign that explained this but at least she caught us folks who got in line before checking in with her. I only shopped around for about 10 minutes before I received the text. The wait in line even after the reservation was about half an hour. If they could add more cashiers, I think the line would move much quicker as there were plenty of servers once you got to the counter. While waiting, you could watch the different meats being grilled and there was a large menu which allowed you to get an idea of pricing and what to order. Once I finally got to the counter, I ordered the chicken bbq value meal which came with rice and one bbq chicken skewer and for my side, I paid a little extra for the prawns. Since the food court area was packed, it was very loud and hard to hear the server so I resorted to pointing at what I wanted. I also picked up a calamansi juice. Once I was finally able to pay I took the time to look around the rest of the store and picked up a few items, then stopped at the bakery for some ube bites and headed home. The big chunks of chicken were juicy and the sauce not too sweet, the jasmine rice was perfectly cooked and the prawns, all though I normally hate them with shells on, were worth it. the calamansi juice was my only disappointment. It tasted artificial, but the person in line beside me recommended trying the coconut next time as it was much better. The ube bites were also a delicious snack and a good deal for the price. The store is clean with helpful employees, produce section is fresher than some local chain stores. I'm not in the Sugar Land area often but the next time I am, I will definitely stop by!

My first time here and I like what I see. It's very clean looking and the seafood display is organized and well iced up. The pastry section looks yummy. We end up going with the Ube macapuno slice, chocolate Barako Tiramisu cake slice and espresso brownie bites. For the hot food selection, we got the seafood platter which comes with one grill octopus, two grill tilapia , and one grilled pompano fish. We also got the bbq pork in the stick. I got the Halo Halo. Everything was delicious. I love their lemony dipping sauce for the fish.

I'm currently in the San Antonio area so my family and I travel here all the time. Located in the Houston area, the drive is so worth it. Wish there was one in San Antonio. The place is really massive in general, has a fresh fish and meat section with lots of selections and a good variation of different frozen/canned foods, fresh fruit, baked goods, kitchen products, health and beauty supplies, etc. Grill City is so yummy, you can stand in line for lunch/dinner or call in and order pick up. Highly recommend this place if you've never been, it'll never be a wasted trip. 100 stars!!

Okay, I've never been to Seafood City before other one in L.A., but allow me to rave about a dish my older brother brought home from the brand new Sugar Land location. The pork BBQ has an amazing flavor and aroma that takes me back to the Philippines. A stick was loaded with ample succulent pieces of meat to where something with carbohydrates like rice isn't really necessary. If you're familiar with Pinoy culture, you'd know we can't have the three hots without rice.

Seafood City is much more than a grocery store... it's Filipino heaven on earth, right here in the heart of Sugar Land. The whole market is filled to the brim with snacks from my childhood. The hot prepared food is better than most Filipino restaurants in the city. The bakery is stocked with every freshly baked Filipino carb your heart can handle. In just one day of opening, Seafood City has officially become my happy place. We are no longer limited to a 2-foot international section at the local H-E-B. Imagine aisles upon aisles of your favorite foods in every flavor imaginable: canned meats, longanisa, chicharron, biscocho, Danish cookies (or maybe sewing kits?), international sodas... Seafood City is all that and a bag of (shrimp) chips!Grill City, restaurant inside of Seafood City, offers all of the most loved Filipino dishes, such as BBQ skewers, adobo, all the pancits, lumpia, kare kare, foot-long turon, and more! And can you say FRESHLY FRIED CHICHARRON?! My heart is saying yes, but my arteries are saying no. Everything I tried at Grill City was excellent, and I never have to wait for a party at my tita's house to enjoy my favorite dishes again.Bakers Avenue offers every variety of Filipino baked good you can dream up - ensaymada, celebration cakes (like ube macupuno, and sansrival), and ALL the pan de sal. Now that I've discovered the corned beef-filled pan de sal, my life (and waistline) will never be the same. **Pro-tip: If you're buying something from the bakery, make sure to pay for it AT the bakery. Items in the bakery without a barcode cannot be purchased during grocery checkout.Hungry Filipinos and Filipi-nots (womp womp) alike will fall in love with this supermarket. Whether you're looking to expand your repertoire of canned meats, craving a piping hot Filipino bento box, or just need to replace your old tabo, Seafood City has you covered.

03.19.2024 - My cousin and her son was in town from Hawaii, so wanted to show her we are not deprived of Asian/Filipino products. This Seafood City Supermarket is similar to the many of them in different locations. This one in Houston appears to be super clean and very well maintained. I asked myself - did they just open? Are they brand new? I haven't checked yet but it has that appearance of very brand new. I bought they fresh pancit noodles, kamaboko fish cake, shrimp, Palabok dried noodles and a couple of Knorr Sinigang powder. What a cool place to go to. I live in Killeen, and we are only limited to two Asian grocery stores. Sometimes you can't find what you want. So it was really exciting to be here.

I didn't expect for a supermarket to have some of the best filipino food out there but mannn was I surprised. Halo halo? Delicious (when it's made fresh). Baked goods? IMMACULATE! Meats? YUM! Service was speedy and very friendly! The only reason I did not give them a 5 is because they once gave me a frozen pre-made halo halo which I had to dig through with the force of an 8 ton excavator to enjoy. Overall good though!

This place gets 5 stars just for finally existing in the Houston area. My wife and I have been e-mailing the company to open one in Houston probably for the last 10 years. So glad they finally decided to come.First of all, this seafood city is hugeee. I've been to other seafood city's and this is by far the biggest one I've been too - everything is bigger in Texas I guess. The fish/meat section has great selection. Area is clean, and other than the first day it's pretty organized. The produce section is also nice with a selection of Filipino ingredients (precut pinakbet veggies, calamansi etc). Also, this store by far the best selection of Filipino goods in Houston. Pricing is generally comparable to other Asian grocery stores. Grill city and the bakery are also nice. Grill city is technically a turo-turo, and the bakery is nice to have although the Baker's Son in the med center has better bread in my opinion. If you haven't been, definitely check this place out for a total Filipino shopping experience. The crowds aren't there anymore especially on the weekdays!
