I'm gonna separate this into two reviews: adults and kid.Adult: Fresh sauce, pretty good crust, a bit floppy but overall quite flavorful and would 100% eat again. I'd recommend, but I wouldn't say you have to go out of your way to make it here. Kid: (this particular child is only so-so on pizza, which baffles me, a pizza lover): "This is a little better than school pizza, and school pizza is the worst pizza I have ever had."

I flew into Boston from LA, stomach growling like a bear, and had high hopes for this place after seeing it was rated an 8.2 by Dave Portnoy on Barstool's One Bite reviews. I figured if the pizza was good enough for Dave, it had to be good enough for me, right? Wrong. What I got was basically a grease sponge disguised as a pizza. The grease was pooling on top like it was trying to set a world record, and when I picked up a slice, it flopped so hard it might as well have been auditioning for Cirque du Soleil. The toppings? They made a quick escape right off the slice, probably trying to find better pizza elsewhere. Not to be outdone, I also ordered the steak skewers. Let's just say they were so dry they could've doubled as firewood, and seasoning? Never met the guy.Overall, Boston, I had high hopes for your food scene, but this place really left me wondering--are you holding out on me, or is this just your idea of a joke?

Just had a great family pizza night at Santarpio's Pizza. Seriously, large Meat Lovers Pizza, 2 grilled meat skewers (lamb and chicken) + bread, sodas and a half carafe of house wine for $65.00 - how awesome is that?? The place was busy, good vibe, our waitress was great. We would totally go back.

Good, classic bar pizza. Got the classic crunchy crust, which makes the ends a bit tough to eat. Cheese and sauce are hot and oily, but delicious. Cheap too. Not going to change your life but very solid neighborhood pizza place.

Santarpio's is an institution for a reason. I used to go all the time back when I lived in Eastie and it's always a treat to get to go back. You can't go wrong with the Chicken, Broccoli, Garlic white pizza (or any of their other pizzas).

After having santarpios many more times since this review I think what it comes down to is I don't think you can compare it to another specific pizza type. Yes occasionally I've still had one undercooked but often times it's done right. It's a unique style pizza which is good it its own way. Toppings are always fresh tasting and placed under the cheese.

Dined here for dinner and thought it was a very Bostonian experience in that the people running this spot were very hospitable and quite frankly -- honest. There was no 'fluff' -- what you see is what you get. Our server who was also the bartender shared that he has been around Santarpio's before he had teeth (not related to the owner) so that tells you how family oriented this establishment is. As soon as we sat down, he offered us menus and some water. We ended up ordering the steak tips to share which was accompanied by complimentary bread and pickled bell peppers. For our pizza, we chose the Sausage and Garlic as recommended (well done, of course). Steak tips were a bit on the bland side but I think that allows patrons to adjust the seasoning to a preference without having to compromise a "one size fits all" deal. The pizza was good. We didn't finish it and took a few slices ToGo.Overall, the experience was positive. Good food, good vibes, and a well kept place with a lot of preserved history.P.S. I didn't catch the whole story from other regulars who we befriended while dining there, but I will say the photos on the wall depict a deeper root of this spot within the Boston community. For example, there is a photo of JFK and his First Lady parading directly by the storefront of this joint -- how fascinating.

Ordered through their website. Screw these guys! Guy at the shop didn't hand their door dash delivery guy my steak skewer. I called to rectify and it became my issue to handle. I asked to speak to a manager. I was told there was no manager. I asked if he was the owner and he HUNG UP ON ME! Then I called back he wouldn't answer.Bottom line the steak skewer tasted like nothing because I never ate it!!The pizza- not the best. I also didn't eat it hot since I had to deal with door dash refund. But lacked flavor and lots of crust which was dry. Not my favorite style.

Got doordash to my hotel. The kebab had good charcoal smoke. Wish the meat had been seasoned better. The peppers are necessary. The pie was simple and good. Could have been warm but can't fault restaurant. Sauce was good not spicy or acidic. Good flop. I didn't try the crust but it looked good. Support local businesses.

I'd say meh. Santarpios gets a lot of hype but it's nothing special. The pizza was over cooked and super salty. it's supposed to be an institution but isn't really any better than Domino's.
