Very friendly and courteous staff. Fair prices. Will keep this place in my book for catering if I need party trays for a potluck. The banh cuon is tasty but not the best I've had; the rice noodle is pretty thick compared to the filling. The banh beo is yummy; it had a smooth and soft texture. The fish sauce was to my liking - not overly salty. I liked that they also gave shredded carrots with the sauce.Parking lot available. Located in a plaza with several businesses.

3.5 stars overall but rounding up for a great version of bánh bèo packed with mung bean. I've been trying to check out Van An for a while now, but kept stopping by too late during the weekends and they had already sold out of the pre-made plates. Since I was placing an order for Lunar New Year, I decided to call in a few days ahead for pickup on the weekend. My order was ready by the time I arrived, and I tried:[https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Cah25CvXHvsK5ax-EQaODw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg]-Bánh Bèo (Steamed Rice Cake w/Onions, Bean, Shredded Shrimp): Great version of bánh bèo, and I really appreciated the ample mung bean filling. The steamed rice cake portion was a bit too thick for my preference, but it was smooth and fluffy, and steamed perfectly. -Bánh Cuốn (Steamed Rice Rolls Stuffed w/Pork & Mushrooms): I really liked their pork and mushroom filling; however, the steamed rice roll was also on the thicker side.-Crispy Fried Garlic & Shallot ($7): Fried perfectly, but on the pricier side.-Chả Lụa (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=IMB5JPXY4Ar7E4EkdjngOg&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Good, and very smooth/even cooked, but not quite as flavorful as other versions I've had.I paid around $89.50 for ~160 bánh bèo and ~40 pieces of bánh cuốn. Both items were great with the pickled radish/carrots, and their nước chấm was on point! I'll be back to try their pre-packaged items in their future. Parking was easy to find in the lot at the time since I came early on a weekdend.

I'm in this plaza a lot, getting 7 leaves drinks or baked goods at L&M bakery. It was lunch time so I decided to stop in here and pick up something quick, to go. I saw a catering menu and they had plenty of prepared foods around the place. But not sure if they had a real menu or if you can order something to be made to order. Anyways I got a prepared dish of banh beo and bot loc. Luckily there was a person who ordered in front of me bc I overhead her paying with venmo.. Nice, otherwise it's a cash only establishment. I think I had cash but maybe not enough. So venmo is a nice option. I paid and then she handed me my food. I think my dish was $6.50, so inexpensive. It was served with fish sauce and it filled me up for a quick lunch. Banh beo is one of my favorites - it's a steamed rice dumpling and these were covered in a shrimp dust. Bot loc is like a tapioca dumbling - chewy and filled with a little bit of meat. I don't eat it too often but it was super yummy. I would def come back again and try to see if they have other options.

I usually go to L&M Bakery and Deli few shops down but have recently started checking out Van An. Very similar to L&M, another mom & pop shop - Vietnamese food & snacks. This place is, I believe, closed on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Make sure to bring cash because they do not accept cards. They have those individual packaged Vietnamese food plates, like banh cuon, banh beo, banh bot loc, sticky rice, and more - made fresh daily. A bit pricey, around $5-$6 for one and portion size is not much. On busy WFH days, I would come here to pick up something for lunch or dinner because it's quick and convenient.

Me and my family go here a lot! Weekly or every other week. We love their banh cuon thit (steamed rice rolls filled with pork and wood ear mushrooms) and banh beo (steamed rice cakes topped with mung bean and dried shrimp). It always tastes fresh and I really enjoy the texture. You can buy the pre made containers that they set out on the table, if they are available. The pre made containers usually include a fork, nuoc mam (fish sauce), and hanh phi (fried shallots). Sometimes they sell out and you have to wait a little bit for them to make it, especially on the weekends. You can call ahead to see what they have left or ask them to reserve your order. Service has always been good for me and I never have any issues with parking, because it's a quick in and out. It's also in the same plaza as 7 Leaves so you can get your boba fix too!Don't forget to bring cash (:

I remember the first time I stepped into a Lee's Sandwich in San Jose. I thought it was so cool that it was so modern and you waited on your orders of sandwich and Vietnamese coffee- " #28, Your order is ready" announced over the speakers. I remember looking around at all the what looked liked bunch of packaged colorful appetizers laying around being sold. I bought a few items w/no idea of what the heck I was eating. But, I was ready for the edible adventure!Van An( San Jose) makes lots of this hard for me to pronounce delicious items. Buy a bunch for a snack or a meal! Mom and Pop shop and Cash Only. Social distance observed. Staff friendly and wearing mask.

My parents go here a lot to get banh hoi and banh uot. I would say it's good because we keep coming back here for more. My friends wanted to throw a birthday dinner for our Spring birthday babies. I went in to order some. The menu was too confusing to read because it didn't connect to the price. I made my order and was shocked at the price. They say they speak English but couldn't spell my name so I use my Dad's name. After I got home, I looked at their price and had to do some math. It turns out to be over the budget. I came in to have them change it and they did. There was a misunderstanding because of the language barrier. They refunded my money. They didn't have a lot of variety when I went in there but then I did went around noon and right before they closed.I don't think this place is handicapped friendly because they had a table near their cashier counter so you wouldn't be able to fit in your wheelchair. I almost rolled my ankle coming into the store bc their steps don't aligned to the sidewalk.I will update when I get my catering.
