Vahl's Bar and Coctail

My secret bar before Niners games and events at Levi's. The years have been rough on this once popular destination. Covid really brought business to a stand still as they had to close the kitchen. There is so much potential and it could really be a great pregame destination. Cheap drinks, TV's and a pool table. What more do you need?

Dropped in during a car show, they were serving breakfast burritos for $8. Cash only. Doughnuts for $3. I purchased a breakfast burrito and what I received was not even equivalent to a street taco. What a let down! While it had good flavor the burrito was definitely not worth squeeze. I wouldn't have minded paying twice as much for a good sized burrito but this was just ridiculous.

Husband saw Vahl's from the train and wanted to try it. Up for something new we headed down from Dublin. Vahl's has been around for years. The decor appears to be original. Though they have several TVs in the bar showing sports. It looks like they have a bunch of regulars. The staff was friendly. They only had a lunch menu available so we missed some items. Apparently they have steaks and chicken cordon blue. Would have like the larger selection. Our food was served quickly. Dinner included garlic bread and a side salad or soup. The salad was crisp and fresh, iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. The ravioli dinner had 8 round ravioli in a red sauce. The liver and onion included a scoop of mashed potatoes and veggies. The liver was tender and the onions were grilled well. I can see the attraction Vahl's is as a neighborhood restruant.

I used to come here for lunch and jumbo swirl lollipops as a kid in the 90s but now I love to frequent it for the bar and karaoke. If you've been here, you know it's a true gem. The selfish part of me wants to keep it secret, but honestly, everyone should be able to experience Vahl's.

This is probably the best restaurant in Alviso. I wish I got to experience it before Covid hit and I hope someday I can. They have a reduced menu but the ham sandwich I got was definitely better than expected. I went with my friend and Pet Morrigan. Everybody loved Morrigan, even the stray cats in the area and I didn't meet one grumpy, ill polite soul. Vahls has an older crowd but definitely a friendly group of commoners worth getting to know.

This is a cool dive bar! Super retro with a lot of history. Too bad the Food service closed after Covid.... I live close by and would love to see this place grow again! Especially with the 49er stadium being close by I can see this place being a really cool spot if only the owners would put a little work back into it. But still, cheap drinks and a crazy retro vibe and I love coming here for a bourbon and a beer. I hope people start coming here and we build this place back up!

Don't bother unless you go there to drink and hang out .They only serve good on certain days of the week from 12-5 It's not the Val's that was in the early days.Sorry to see it go down so badly.We used to take our family there for special birthday.

the coolest bar in the bay area. the decor is sort of like a movie set/ vegas in the early days. incredibly nice people hang there- elva the bartendress is wonderful and on select days creates culinary delights like chile colorado and chile rellenos. an authentic, old school, actually retro hang out totally worth the drive. my favorite place in san jose...

Great bartenders. Food served from 12-5 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. They also said they do special events if interested leave a message.
