I went to a high school fundraiser party hosted by one of the parents, and the living room had a drum kit, guitars, and amplifiers set up. (What does this have to do with a RWC bar? I'll get there, I promise). I'm an amateur musician that once in a while feels confident enough to caterwaul in front of the crowd, and I briefly considered asking to do a guest set, but I could tell from the set list that the time was scheduled to the minute and I should enjoy the show. And I did, they put on a great set and it was a lot of fun. I talked with the lead singer afterwards and I mentioned how I was sometimes able to get some stage time at another venue. He let me know about a really cool set up at The Hub where they have an open mic on Monday and after that an open jam. He said, "Man, they have a full stage set up with lights, keyboards, and drums, you just plug in and go." I thought that sounded a little too good to be true, but I told him I'd be there the next Monday.Monday at 8:00 I show up and the bartender greeted me warmly. I climbed upstairs to the open mic and some guy is just rocking Adele in a falsetto and an acoustic guitar that blew my hair back and I began to think that I may have entered a small pond but there are some pretty big fish. A couple of other acts followed, all of them good enough to be on stage and then the open mic ended and I was kind of unclear on how the open jam went. So I grabbed my guitar, plugged in, and there was a guy who could be a session musician tickling the ivories and we just started playing. Then a guy (who later turned out to be Allan, the owner) gets behind the drum kit and next thing you know we are rocking out to the Hollies. To put it bluntly I had a great [insert joyous expletive] time. The sound system is top notch, the lights make you feel like you're jamming at the Fillmore, and the pickup musicians were all good enough to remind you of living your college dreams of quitting it all and going on the road. We wrapped up in a couple of hours, and I spent some time talking with Allan and found him to be a cut above your typical bar owner. He did the tech life for a while and bought the bar right before Covid. He's a wise man who knows how to keep a welcoming environment (read that as not a dive bar with a surly clientele). I don't drink, but it was a well-stocked bar that had non-alcoholic options. I can't yet comment on the food, I'll try it next time. I can say that a place like this needs patrons who come to the bar not just to drink, but also have a good time doing stuff that makes a nightlife enjoyable. That's why I'm mentioning high school fundraisers, places like this need word of mouth to revitalize them, and I can tell you that downtown RWC is getting back in action because of places like The Hub.

So this was our original destination for dinner, but accidentally ended up elsewhere. We came on Thursday night during their game night. They have so many games! We played "Dad Jokes" which was super fun and popular among our group. The place was pretty packed when we arrived around 9pm but we were able to find a high table to sit at. The game options are vast. I got a Shirley temple to drink (don't judge me), and it was absolutely terrible. Idk how you mess up Shirley temples but this one was messed up. And it came in a cocktail glass. Overall cool vibes, will be back

What an amazing experience we had at this music venue/Bar. Allen was such a friendly bar tender/owner. He took the time to make conversation with us which made us feel that he was very passionate about his work. He also suggested different types of liquors and mixed drinks which was really fun! I ordered a whisky sour which he adjusted exactly to my liking without any fuss. He brings light to passionate musicians which makes this place even more awesome. Great spot. I'd definitely return.

Front entrance looks like the space is unoccupied but fear not. Pickup NZ pies to go at the backdoor - knock until someone opens the door. The phone is not a good way to contact the restaurant. The pies are appetizer sized good to share. They are reminiscent of Viet pate chaud - puff parties filled with yums.Chose the 6-sampler- steak - chicken pot pie- shepherd pie- bacon egg*- cottage pie- chicken cranberry brie** Best in show would order again.Need to try the sweet pies next time.

I live in Santa Cruz, a town w/considerable nightlife, and I will still head up to Redwood City on weekends to take part of their electronic dance music events. Why? The HUB pulls in top-notch DJs from around the bay area to spin EDM. The owner is part of several Burning Man art car theme camp operations and he's well connected as a result. Events there give a nod to the burner ethos. I like that. Food: I am told that a vegan "Impossible" pie is going to be added to the current lineup of NZ pies. Impossible Foods is HQ'd in Redwood City. the hub knows how to keep it local! Nice!Drinks: vegetarians can order their bloody mary or "bloody maria" (tequila version) custom made to hold the Worcestershire sauce. this condiment normally contains sardines but one can substitute soy sauce or Amy's Worcestershire. Ambiance: The upstairs has club lighting including black lights and derby style beam generators. Lasers & fog machines are brought in special for some EDM shows. All in all, these upstairs party nights are lit! the staff and owner could not be friendlier. Their communication is exceptional. I will look here first to book future events. The Hub RWC is my new favorite on the peninsula.

This is a hidden gem in Redwood City. It is a bar and a restaurant now after the new owner took over since The Underground. Their food is effing awesome and all of the staff are personal and down to earth. This establishment offers multiple events every week; including karaoke(Wednesday) and a game night(Thursdays- see picture). Occasionally they have comedy, live music and even Burlesque! Outside patio is available for drinking and dining so it's also dog friendly! What are you waiting for?!?!

I got a Yelp kit from The Hub - a combo of six different New Zealand pies that they have. I decided to get a couple of their bacon and egg as well as their sausage rolls, and also tried out their chicken cranberry brie pie and topped it off with their apple raspberry - yummy. The bacon and egg pie is a great way to start off the day - a protein packed breakfast with a nice flaky crust, it was pretty tasty. The chicken cranberry was my absolute favorite though - it was like a mini, moist, chicken pot pie that was melt in your mouth delicious. The sausage roll was a little on the drier side for my taste - still good, but it might have been even better if paired with some type of dipping sauce. The apple raspberry was a great way to finish the meal - not overly sweet but decadent enough to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. I only wish that the pies were bigger! They're about 3-4 bites each so it would be pretty easy to eat several of these in one sitting.

Great venue! I had the pleasure of being served by Alan who was more than welcome to have a conversation. I later found out he was the owner of the place and it was such a refreshing feeling to see that the owner had so much passion about his place and serving you. I would definitely come back!
