The Fisherman's Taverna

First, they have free soft drinks! I had the catch if the day fish tacos. I don't particularly like fish tacos, but they were very good. I like to take the double tortilla of the two tacos and make 4 separate tacos giving me more than enough food. My wife had the scallop linguine and she loved it as well. The building could use some renovation but I come for the food and will keep on coming.

We got a lobster roll and cioppino. Both were ok. The soup was a bit heavy on tarragon flavor, which can be overwhelming for people who aren't big on that flavor, like my husband. I was hoping for the mussels and clams to be more fresh and plump, but I was a bit disappointed. The scallops were good, could be a little more seared though. We were surprised how pricey the dishes were. Portions of the food matched the price, but flavors sadly weren't quite there with the price. I am still craving a good bowl of seafood soup, with fresh clams and good chunks of fish

Attention Alert: We used to come here every couple of months and absolutely loved their food. After moving and not visiting for over a year we were excited to visit and with great anticipation we set out early and took the drive from Fremont to Half Moon Bay. We always purchased the same thing it was called the sampler plate. Salmon with shrimp and scallops it also came with a house salad with dressing and mango salsa on the side. Loved this combination so when we arrived at the restaurant we ordered to sampler plates and a cup of clam chowder. Oh my goodness the server brought us two plates with salmon scallops and shrimp with French fries so we were confused and the server said the menu changes all the time but he would change the fries for rice so he did. The rice was ok the scallops ok the shrimp tuff but ok but the salmon was not edible because it was old and rotten. We ordered one salad it came with two croutons and lettuce at a cost of 16.00 dollars and a cup of clam chowder for 10 dollars it was barely ok. The meals were 32.50 each can you believe 32.50 for a little rice 2 scallops 2 shrimp and rotten salmon. Needless to say it was a horrible experience with expensive awful food and we will never come back very very big big disappointment

This place was recommended to us by a friend. Came here after a bike ride, pretty hungry. The place is really easy to find, with plenty of parking space. The interior is a little basic but clean. Fast and courteous service, and the food was really good. We had fried calamari and some fish sampler. the breading was crispy, not overly greasy and the fish was so good. Free fountain drinks, too. And only a couple minutes away from epic views at the beach.

Have passed this placed whenever coming to Half Moon Bay, so finally decided to try it.Staff and Service:- Order at the register and they'll give you a number to put on your table- Menus available at the registerFood and Drinks:- There are a few beers and Ace Cider on tap. Few wines available as well (no cocktails)- Shrimp Cocktail: big shrimp with a cocktail sauce that has a bit of a kick to it- Burger: very delicious burger with good seasoning. The fries it came with were also really good. And for the coleslaw lovers, the burger also comes with a side of coleslaw - Oysters: ordered a half dozen oysters. Not the best oysters ever, but they were good. Miscellaneous:- Small parking lot available. Should be able to get parking unless coming during peak hours - Lots of tables inside and outside available for both small groups and larger groups

Currently otw to the pumpkin festival and parked near by. They were advertising a clam bake where they pre packaged sets so you can cook a boil at home. Love that idea! I only came here to try their clam chowder which was delicious. The bread bowl was overfilled with chowder which let the bread soak up all the chowdery goodness. Another table ordered fish n chips which looked good too. Maybe I'll try some otw home!

We got the oyster, ceviche, fisherman's seafood cocktail mix, and fries. The seafood cocktail mix might be more on the frozen texture but it is not that bad. I liked the ceviche. Oysters were good too. My favorite was how big of a plate they give you when you order fries. I was very happy haha. They also let you get free soda which was great. There's a small parking lot so it was convenient. Staff was nice.

How it works: You order & pay at the counter before sitting down. After you pay, they'll give you a number to put on the table. Once the food is ready, they'll find your number and give you your food. How it taste: I got the fish & chips and calm chower. -Fish & Chips: It comes with 2 decent sized fish and you get to choose between fries or rice and coleslaw. The fish itself wasn't any amazing, but I really enjoyed their tartat sauce. The garlic fries wasn't super garlicky either. -Calm Chower: The calm chower was decent. I thought it was on the slightly bland side tho.

Lots of seafood items to choose from. Indoor seating as well as outdoor picnic tables. Casual dining. Friendly staff.Being an area full of tourists, Half Moon Bay restaurants are generally pricier than most restaurants serving the same kind of food in other cities. This one is no different.Lobster rolls - buns are buttered and toasted. Generous amount of lobster meat. I didn't get to try them so don't know how good the dressing was for the lobster. My guest said they didn't enjoy the dressing as much as they enjoyed the bun. You have a choice of regular or garlic fries with this entree.Clam chowder is delicious and you have the option of having it in a cup, bowl, or sourdough bread bowl for varying prices. Go with the bread bowl. Their sourdough bread is better than most. It's toasted and soft inside, not dry and hard like day-old bread you get at other restaurants. The chowder consistency is good and the perfect accompaniment with the bread. Most people will leave the outer crust of the bread and dig out what's inside, but not here. I wouldn't be surprised if you tore into the whole sourdough bread and soaked up all that overflowing chowder. Yes, the bread is that good.The Dungeness crab cocktail was pricy for a small amount of crab meat but it was tasty in its natural sweetness. They didn't really have to do much to it. It was good quality crab and the pieces were a decent size. There just wasn't a whole lot of it, which I understand as fresh crab meat can be expensive.

The food was delicious and made to order for gluten free eaters. Food came out quick. Fish tacos were delicious. Halibut was tender. Fish and chips were spectacular. The breading was good. Cod was flakey. Every meal gets a soft drink. The dining room is spacious and flexible for large groups. Great place. Give it a try!
