this tiny bakery/cafe tucked behind the drunken monk izakaya really impressed me! the space is small but clean with plenty of seating and natural light, mostly wood furniture giving it a really relaxing vibe. the parking is this tiny lot that is shared with the izakaya, so it fills up fast, but there's also street parking that you can walk from! pricing is pretty standard for cakes/drinks.my friend ordered a hojicha latte and we tried the matcha roll cake and the hojicha basque cheesecake! the latte was a little too sweet but the tea flavor was nice, with the typical grainy feel of hojicha. i thought it was good, but nothing crazy. the cakes were actually unreal though i can't stop thinking about them!! the matcha roll cake was perfectly soft and spongy with a plain cream and a flavorful matcha cream that brings in a beautiful contrast to the soft sweetness of the rest of the cake. it's not heavy at all but still feels creamy and satisfying. the hojicha cheesecake was also incredible?? i thought it would be bland, as the color isn't super deep, but you can really taste the roasted hojicha flavor. it's sweeter than the roll cake, which makes sense as it is a cheesecake, but not overpowering at all! i would highly, highly recommend at LEAST trying their roll cakes. i'll definitely be back to try more! overall - great vibes, fast & attentive service, limited parking but manageable, good prices, and outstanding food options. come here to get work done, catch up with friends, or to wait for your table at drunken monk! lmao

After circling the block twice, I was able to find the location and my third lap. It's behind the Drunken Monk and the sign is underneath theirs, so although large, it was hard to see as there was a tree or something blocking it. The parking is very tight in the back. The place itself is very cute, comfortable and clean. The ordering is simple, and the time to fulfill it was very quick.I ordered the black sesame and matcha roll cakes. The black sesame was $1.50 more than the matcha but not sure why. On first sniff, I could smell the black sesame but there was a barely noticeable taste. Overall the cake was tender and the filling nice, it just didn't deliver any special flavor especially for the price. The matcha role had much more flavor but for $6, it was a slight bit too small. They had run out of the burnt cheesecake so will eventually go back to try them.

small store but quiet warm inside. i was like going into a library when first time step in. hahahaself order on the kiosk system. food came very quickly. roll cake is delicious. it is not too sweet. cream is very fresh. before eating, i thought it is a bit expensive for a slice of cake. after tasting, i think it is very worthy. FYI - store is at inner corner. it is hard to find parking.

I love this place! MATCHA latteis super strong!! Just as how I like it. No milk foam, but the matcha was so thick and creamy that it made it just as good. Portion is pretty grande.HOJICHA ROLL CAKESo delicious!! Cake is light and bouncy, and that hojicha cream is so strong and delicious. Yes, not too sweet.Vibes are minimalistic, cozy with kpop playing. We need more places like this. I'm tryna enjoy the peaceful days before this place gets insta-famous.

I stopped by here after seeing a few reviews pop up on my home page. It is a little bit out of the way and not on the front street. I parked on the street and walked a few minutes to get to the storefront. I ordered the coffee latte - it was pretty good but wish it had more coffee flavor. Rather it was more like tiramisu with mascarpone cream on top. I also ordered a hojicha basque cheese cake - it's still in my fridge but excited to eat it soon!

A super small & tucked away cafe off of El Camino Real! You have to be looking for it or you'll miss it. We ordered a matcha latte & a Thai tea roll cake. Their matcha is a 4/5, I wish it was a little bit stronger but it's definitely better than a lot of cafes where you can't even taste the matcha at all. It's a subtle taste but it definitely satisfied my cravings! The Thai tea roll cake was a 5/5. I love how strong the Thai tea flavor was, it was super fragrant and delicious! The cake was soft and fluffy and inside was half Thai tea cream & half regular cream. I think the cream to cake ratio was a little bit high but it was so good that I ended up finishing the cream by itself at the end.

It's a 10/10 for Temp & Time. Their roll cakes are so incredibly delicious. If you're into strong tea flavors and sweets that are not too sweet (and Asian parents approved), this is the place to go. All their flavors are just up our alley, and it was hard to choose which ones to try. OUR FIRST TIMEFor our first time, we opted for the thai tea, hojicha, and matcha. All 3 were an absolute hit. Again, super super strong tea flavor, and a silky, creamy filling. The thai tea literally felt like it was a thai tea drink but in cake form. This is not your average whipped cream filling. It's reminiscent of the cream fillings you'd find in cream buns from Korea and Japan. Super milky, creamy, and satisfying. I do wish that the filling was entirely flavored instead of half/half to intensify the flavor even more. OUR SECOND TIMEOur second time was my birthday request! This time we ordered entire rolls - chocolate strawberry, matcha, and hojicha. Since the tea flavors packed a punch, the chocolate strawberry was very different. Both the strawberry and chocolate flavor was very subtle. We'd pass on that next time.ROLLS VS SLICESIn terms of the price difference from rolls vs slices, it's about the same. I was surprised that the rolls were a bit smaller than expected. Each full roll was about 6, maybe 7 slices. So if you're debating between slices vs full rolls... from a price point, it doesn't really matter.DRINKSStrawberry yuzu sparkler: light, refreshing, not too sweet - a perfect blend of flavorsHojicha latte: a strong latte with excellent flavor!PRE-ORDERING/PARKINGI highly recommend preordering if you're able to plan ahead. Their shop is tiny and they often sell out. Parking here is a bit of a headache. It's located behind a restaurant and the "parking lot" is like a narrow alleyway. If you're driving a larger car/SUV, you might have a hard time making some very sharp turns.

Temp & Time is an easy 10/10! This cozy Japanese-inspired café is a hidden gem in Palo Alto/Menlo Park, perfect for a relaxing dessert stop.We tried their roll cakes, and they were absolutely divine--soft, fluffy, and packed with rich tea flavors. We had the Thai Tea, Hojicha, and Matcha Roll Cakes, and all three were a hit! The flavors were bold, the filling was silky and creamy, and each bite was a perfect balance of sweetness.Their Burnt Basque Cheesecake was just as amazing. The Original was classic and creamy, while the Hojicha version had a deep roasted tea flavor that made it even more special.Beyond the desserts, the café itself is beautiful--warm, bright lighting, wood accents, and plenty of seating make it a perfect place to unwind. Whether you're a tea lover or just enjoy beautifully crafted desserts, this spot is a must-visit! Shop is small and tucked away in the back of drunken monk with limited seating, but the roll cakes are great - not very sweet, light and airy. The matcha filling inside the matcha roll is very matcha-esque, and while I couldn't finish the giant roll solo for my birthday - I froze it and it still was good!! Lolll Black sesame and ube roll cakes were great, but matcha will be my go to. Might try the biscoff one day?

This spot has been on my list, and I got to try it out with my friend. It's located behind Drunken Monk, so you can easily miss the location, cause I sure did lol. My friend got the black sesame latte & and she said it was too sweet for her liking even though she adjusted the sweetness level. She also got the ube basque cake, which looks good. I got the strawberry hojicha and it was an interesting combo. I never thought hojicha & strawberry would taste good together, but it does! This cafe is on the smaller side, but it's so cute with minimal design. It doesn't look like there's not much people, but it's a must try for sure.
