It had been a while since I was last here and after a long day of work I decided I wasn't going to cook tonight! I immediately thought about this place and I'm glad I went thru with this particular location. There is limited parking and you have the choice to eat indoor and outdoor. Once every hours there is a group of men ready to sing some good Mexican music. As for the food their specialty in my opinion is their green rice! Their food all in all is very flavorful and delicious! A must try if you are in the mood for some seafood. They also have small packets of "chile de Arbol" if you like your food to be extra spicy

This Mexican seafood place has been on my list for quite some time but the idea of Mexican sushi never quite caught my attention or interest. Finally decided to give this a try on a Tuesday night...Tostadas Tuesdays! The portions here are huge! It was not what I expected. I eat a lot and I barely finished one!Yea I didn't give the sushi a try. Still feels weird to me but the quesabirrias and ceviche here are on point! The parking sucks though. You can't park in the plaza behind it or do street parking since it's on Monterey. You really just have to figure out how to park in their tiny parking lot and be nice and move your car if you're blocking someone else's car.

Number one thing is the food is pretty awesome! We focused this trip on seafood because that's basically their specialty. Molcajete costa alegre is served in a boiling chipotle sauce in a hot stone bowl and filled with head-on shrimp, crab leg, octopus, bass, and mussels. Garlic peeled shrimp with tail. Super michelado with more shrimp cocktail and Corona.Authentic Mexican atmosphere complete with mariachi band walking around. (It therefore can get pretty loud) but a fun atmosphere.Nice outdoor, but under cover seating. Small inside seating with a nice bar. Servers are very nice and hard working. There's very little parking. Few cars oboy. Other parking in the lot is for other stores and restaurants and have signs stating as such. So you park in the residential area.

I live near this location and go veryyyy often. There's so many great things on their menu, and the pictures were from one of their discounted nights for sushi. Every time I go I always get their super micheladas, the shrimp on the drinks is spicy and flavorful and are their own good appetizer. The aguachile and vasilocos here are to die for and I recommend those more than anything!!! If you are in the mood for some shrimp and you like boiling crab I would recommend getting a botanaso. And if you really want to try the sushi stick with the sushi costero, the mar y Tierra is the house favorite but I honestly thought it was kinda nasty. But legit everything else I've had here is great, only thing parking is not that good so anticapate to park far or be stuck behind multiple cars.

This is a review for the shrimp ceviche! Pros:-fresh seafood-lots of tostadas/saltines-limes/tapatio on the side-generous portionsWe ordered to-go so I can't say much about the service/atmosphere. Parking can be tough since it's in a small strip lot with a gas station.

The family that owns this business and their staff were welcoming, caring, and ultimately made this experience more than expected. While the location is tight on parking, considering the area, the restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for folks. The interior is a no frills type spot, common to marisco joints in SJ and similar to Mexico, but on the exterior they did have a nice grass backdrop (popular these days). Now let's talk about the drinks and food. Their shrimp plates are perfectly seasoned no matter which one you pick. Definitely some of the best camaron dishes I've had in San Jose. Warning- they are not pre-peeled for you!The michelada super is the best in a city that has lots of great options!! Perfectly balanced with the Negro Modelo. The shrimp on top is the only ones that they had which were pre-peeled, and the flavor complemented the michelada so well. Yes, I ate a lot of shrimp! My friends had the Mexican sushi and were thrilled with it. They said the flavors and sauces were some of the best they've had! Give it a try! Specifically this location! Tell them Mr. Perez recommended it!

Nice family time at Mariscos Costa Alegre, I visit this place with my family after a while and we enjoy it. We order so much food and all of it was delicious. We got Cocktail de Camarón, Molcajete Costa Rica, Molcajete Mixto, Chicken Fajitas, Sushi, Caldo de Camarón, Quesadillas and more. All of my family was satisfied. I do recommend this place to everyone. This was not only a good time but a good news with my sister new baby girl that will be with us soon. The service was kind and we love nice people. Today Costa Alegre deserves 5 stars

I'd come back for the fish tacos. Nice and warm outside seating area that is fully covered. Service was nice. Food took kinda long but I noticed their kitchen is kinda small. Parking is very limited in this plaza. I suggest parking in the streets and walk over. I ordered the quesabirria with beef. They get to choose beef or goat. It came with consommé and side of diced onions, cilantro, lime, and radish. The size is quite generous! Almost the side of a quesadilla. First impressions: the taco doesn't look like what I'm used to for quesabirria. The shell wasn't crispy and dipped in consommé for the exterior. After a few bites in, I noticed that my beef didn't taste like beef.. It really did taste like goat.. I flagged down the server and told her I didn't like my meal because the taste of the meat was off putting and tasted like goat. She apologized and asked if I wanted something else. I asked for fish tacos instead. I tried their fish tacos before at their 13th street location and I enjoyed it. Fingers crossed. About 10-15 minutes later, my fish tacos came out. It had 3 loaded fish tacos and looked quite tasty. They redeem themselves with this item and service! So good. We also ordered the chicharron with guac and the al pastor Mexican sushi rolls. Great food offerings.
