Sushi 85 is a located in Mountain View at the end of hwy 237 in the same shopping center of Ranch 99 and Nob Hill Food. It's a nice restaurant serving Japanese food. For this visit during a weekday dinner time, it was not busy and service was fast. The price is good to serving portion. For dinner I had chicken karaage, fried calamari, garlic edamame and tonkatsu ramen. The ramen is a good choice if you have a craving for hot comfort meal on a chilly day.

I haven't written a review in years, but I felt compelled to share my experience here because the service I received was completely unprofessional.I visited twice, and both times had the same server. Each time, he was more focused on chatting with the chefs than attending to customers. After seating me, he continued his conversation with the kitchen staff without offering water or taking my order. I had to ask him to come over, and it felt like I was interrupting his chat, which made me feel uncomfortable.The most outrageous part was when he served my ramen--he actually whistled at me like you would to get a pet's attention. This behavior is absolutely unacceptable. I'm writing this in hopes that it reaches the owner and leads to better training for the staff.

This place has reasonable prices and good food but service is always so slow. The last time I went, it seemed like they only had one overwhelmed worker and I almost felt bad asking for our food. I ordered a lion king roll (~$16) and it was the last item to come out at the table. The server was really apologetic, to the point that I felt like I was just continuously providing him reassurance LOL. I really think the restaurant could be better off hiring a few more staff so that customers can get served more quickly and so that the work is less overwhelming for one waiter. Other than that, my experience was alright- clean restaurant, mostly convenient parking, and pretty good food. If you're willing to wait, Sushi 85 is worth a try.

To summarize, the place is clean and they have good rolls, but the service is so slow. I came here on a Sunday night with a friend and we were the only ones seated in the restaurant. We decided to order the red crunch mango roll, lion king, and cherry blossom roll and tea. My favorite was the red crunch mango, but all the other ones were also good. It took 5-10 minutes for us to get our tea and then another 10-15 minutes to get our roll. They seemed to have some to-go orders, but I still don't think it should have taken so long. I used to work at a sushi restaurant and it should not take 20 minutes for 2 rolls. Also, no one came to refill our tea which we paid $2 for.

Ok, this is off the beaten path in a shopping center and not easy to locate. Still, it's all you can menu makes it worthwhile to pay them a visit. Is it worth it? You have to make a decision after trying it once. It's super expensive; $40 for dinner! They only allow you to order 3 items at a time...and they aren't very attentive to come back and let you order more as you are finishing your first three items. It makes it a bit frustrating especially if you are pressed for time. I am uncertain whether I will be back or not; the quality of sushi, for an AYCE, is very good but the above (price and limit on ordering quantity per round) is frustrating.

Went in there craving all you can eat sushi. Initially, we were disappointed because when we were seated, we were only given regular menus . Upon asking, they did give us the AYCE menus.Honestly, everything was quite good. There were a few things missing from the menu that are standard fare, like egg rolls and shrimp tempura. However, we tried some maki rolls, some specialty rolls, veggie tempura, karaage...there's nothing I wouldn't recommend.Price seemed a little high at $50 per person, but maybe I'm out of touch. Service was excellent, and there was no delay between ordering rounds of food.

The very first time I ever just stopped eating a meal while well over 75% still there and just left. The one star is for the surprising fact I didn't get sick. Not sure how long that fish was in the freezer but it tasted like it was thawed out from the last ice age.

The food and service were average. Nothing good or bad. I had the AYCE which has an automatic 15% tip. This is fine but they also automatically put it on my drink and on tax. You don't tip on tax. I usually tip 20% but since they tipped on tax I decided not to.If you're in a group and someone orders the AYCE make sure double-check your check to see if they already added tip for everything else. You don't want to have to double tip unless you want to.
