If you grew up in the Mission, you definitely know about Superstar. This spot has been around for decades, and somehow, their prices are still incredibly low! My go-to is always the silog dishes--I usually get a combo of tocino and longanisa. But today, they were out of tocino, so I went with beef tapa instead. No regrets--it was all delicious. The garlic rice was amazing as always, the tapa was packed with flavor, and the longanisa was just right. I really hope they stick around because this place is a true community staple. As long as I'm here, I'll keep coming back!

What a steal! This cash only, no frills spot is all about takeout and it delivers big on flavor.I've been eyeing this place for a while since it's so close to me, and I love a good longsilog. Their garlic fried rice is LEGIT with actual fried garlic pieces. I ordered the longsilog with a side of HK style pork chop. While the flavors were solid, the pork chop got a bit oily after a few bites, and the crispy edges scraped the roof of my mouth a little.I stopped by before noon, and it was nonstop busy, a testament to how much people love this place. Always great to see a small business thriving! I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu.

Really small hole in the wall small business. The food is all very good with good portions. They have a few extra items on the list menu compared to their sister restaurant which is a plus. I think Gateway gives more rice with more garlic on it which is a marginal difference but it's definitely in the same vein of execution.Superstar's HK pork chop also was thicker than had less surface area than Gateway's but that's just going to come down to preference between the two imo.The staff is super nice and work really hard props for managing the phone, register, passing out orders, and some kitchen work.

I've been wanting to try Superstar Restaurant after loving their sister restaurant Gateway Kitchen. I went for a late lunch (3pm) and by then, many of the popular dishes were sold out - so go early! From the remaining selection, I got the lumpia, Tapsilog, and Sarangani. My favorite had to be the Sarangani, the fish was excellently seasoned and had loads of flavor paired with the vinegar. However, their rice lacked a bit of flavor compared to Gateway Kitchen's. Overall, as everyone's mentioned, the price per portion is simply unbeatable. It's takeout only and hours can vary so I highly recommend calling before going to ensure they're open.

This is such a hole in the wall coded restaurant. I have never seen such value of a meal exist in SF with portions like these. The prices for the meals here is enough to pay for a boba drink. CASH ONLYService: They're friendly and nice. Rush hour can make you wait for a while, I came right before the lunch hour. Waited about 20 minutes. After I ordered they were out of the pork chops so I am not sure if chops are out on a daily occurrence or it was just short on that dayAmbiance: It's one of those Asian restaurants that haven't changed in looks for over 30 years but it has its charm. There are no sit-down areas Hong Kong Style pork chop $7.50 (4/5): Oh my goodness the portions of this meal were colossal. There are two huge pieces of pork chops, garlic rice, tomato slices, and an egg. The pork chop was nice and crispy, one thing to note is that it had light flavoring so I whipped out my Chinese pepper salt seasoning to help it. Overall, the meal was really good for what you're paying. The rice was deliciousTapsilog $6.25 (3/5): Was pretty disappointed with the portions of meat provided for this meal, it's so small compared to what you're getting with the pork chops. I'd recommend having an extra add-on to this meal if you're trying to eat. It has a vinegar-like taste to it and a little dry. Not particulary fond of this Overall, it is fantastic. Paying a meal that is under $8 and enough to feed two people is unheard of in the Bay Area. It does get super busy during lunch hour so be aware of your timing. Definitely coming back here again

Superstar Restaurant is a true hidden gem! It's a humble, cash-only spot with incredible prices, especially for San Francisco--just $6.50 for a rice plate! The service was super quick, perfect for a lunch break or casual meal.I tried the sausage plate, and it did not disappoint. The sausage was juicy and flavorful, perfectly complemented by a heaping portion of garlicky rice. It's hard to find such delicious and authentic Chinese-Filipino dishes at this price point in the city. The restaurant's small and no-frills, so don't expect anything fancy, but it more than makes up for it with the quality and value of the food. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for a quick, tasty, and affordable meal.

A small shop on Mission where you can get a meal deal for under $8! I use to remember their meals at $5 each but with inflation now their prices went up. But it sure still beats other prices out there. Meal plates can range from $6.50 to $8.50 (the tilapia). When you call ask Peggy if the tilapia is available cause that one meal plate will include a whole size fried tilapia! But if it's not available my next go to is milk fish or baby milk fish! Their meals are worth it! It comes with generous serving of garlic rice, egg, tomatoes and your choice of protein - longanisa, tocino, hot dog, fried chicken (leg quarter size), bangus, smoke bangus, milk fish, baby milk fish, pork chop, tilapia. They also have soapas, salted eggs and lumpiang shanghai available to order as a side.

Prices like everything in the country has went up, so let's raise the pay so prices keep going up.This is a wonderful hole in the wall take out only restaurant. I pre ordered the fried chicken because it's the only item that always sells out if I don't get there early.I was not disappointed, the fried chickie is great, that's the reason they're always sold out quickly.

A cozy mom & pop restaurant with no seating inside- which is ok. Cash only! There were a couple of people also waiting for their orders. I appreciated that they had a full bulletin board. You can tell the owners care about their community. I ordered the HK pork chop with garlic rice, tomato, and spicy vinegar. I think it usually comes with a fried egg but I omitted it. This was SO good. I think about it often haha. The batter was insanely crispy, seasoned well, and just made you wanting more! It was a generous portion as well. I seriously can't wait until the next time I have it!
