Great food and service, fun atmosphere and great bar. Love the location right next to the J line, very convenient to skip off too if you've been in the city or vice versa. Local spot

The 2 stars are for the servers that we had who are accommodating and super friendly but that was all that was good about that.We ordered Aguachiles to start, Birria Ramen and the Machete and a Horchata. And everything was not good.Horchata was watered down and barely had any cinnamon taste. The Aguachiles had no flavor sadly and the fish was rough. And the birria ramen. The birria broth was also a little watered down and just not rich enough. And for the price ... it should not be instant ramen... that's just .

Great spot to hang out with friends.Get a pitcher of their margaritas, and grab a seat in their heated + covered back patio. Chips and guac were pretty standard but nice to share while your group figures out their order. The Baja shrimp taco was quite good, big meaty shrimp with a nice crispy exterior. I wish you weren't forced to order 3 in one order, but I guess the move is to share it with the table.

Great Place. Nice outdoor pet friendly area. Chips guacamole and salsa were a good start. The POG Michelada was great. Elote were amazing, nice char and great sauce on the outside. The carnitas plate were amazing. Rice and beans not my favorite, but the carnitas themselves were amazing, great flavor, crunchy, fatty. Partner had fish tacos. Server was attentive and brought everything in a timely manner.

Loved my first visit on a friday so went back that same weekend on a Sunday for more! This place was FUN! Strong yet balanced margaritas, well prepared food, fresh ingredients and salsas made it a memorable and enjoyable meal. The flautas are super THICK, very stuffed and I absolutely loved them. I will definitely be back if in the area and need some margs and Mexican food! The place was very lively both times I went and our service was great even tho it got packed after the Hardly Stricly festival.

Sunset Cantina serves Mexican street food in a colorful vibey setting with indoor/outdoor seating. They're open daily and close at 10 or 11 pm depending on the day of the week, which is nice since many restaurants in the Sunset don't stay open past 8 or 9 pm. We visited on a Monday evening for dinner and ordered crispy carnitas tacos (3 per order), one street dog served with steak fries, quesabirria (2 per order), and one horchata. The carnitas tacos were juicy and flavorful, and there was a nice balance of sharp raw onions and tangy pickled onions. The tacos were a little on the small side as I could finish one in two bites. Plus, there could've been more guacamole. The street dog was massive; the bacon wrapped hot dog was meaty, and the toppings were very generous. The accompanying steak fries were pretty standard. The quesabirria was deliciously meaty and cheesy and the tortilla was nice and crisp; 1-2 tacos per person is all you need since it's very rich and heavy. The consommé for dipping was good with a nice consistency (not too thin).Service was friendly and dishes came out in a timely, staggered manner. I would've hated it if everything came out at once, especially since we'd run out of room on our table quickly. I recommend Sunset Cantina and would return again!

Finally able to try this place after walking past it so many times since they opened a year ago (maybe more?). Came to meet with a friend and there were plenty of seats indoors but if it's a good day, you can also sit outside. But slight warning, you'll have to deal with the noise from the N Judah and also the brisk winds. Service was really quick. We got seated right when we arrived and our orders came in about 10 minutes from ordering. We ordered the Chef Juans Ceviche that came with taro chips and I ordered the Quesabirria for my entree. The ceviche was delicious. I'm not sure if I enjoy the taro chips (something about the texture) but the ceviche itself was flavorful and it wasn't too spicy. The Quesabirria was a hefty meal. The shell was crispy and the filling was tender and retained its moisture in the cooking process. Would definitely come back with a larger group to try some of their other options.

Found this spot on a whim and it did not disappoint! Small hole in the wall joint located in the sunset district with many drink and food options. Service was very fast and on point :) the name def lives up to the hype, arrive around sunset time and you will not be disappointed w the views! This place possibly has the best carnitas tacos I've had in a while.

Cute neighborhood mexican restaurant in the sunset. Parking not too bad, probably a block or two away. Order at the window with a variety of food and drinks, then everything comes pretty quickly. Everything was tasty and well seasoned. Mom's favorite was the ribs. Mine was a toss up between ceviche and baja shrimp tacos. Everything was mid teens - $20. Swing by if you are in the hood.
