State Of Mind Slice House

Just wanted to share the great experience I had at this establishment today that personifies what your State of Mind stands for.....customer satisfaction. I had walked in today already frustrated with something that had nothing to do with this property and came in to order pizza to take to my son for his lunch at school this afternoon. I spoke to the young attendant there and requested 2 ea. Pepperoni slices and 2 each of the Jalapeño/Ham it looked like . Make a long story short I walked out trusting that all 4 slices were in the box being in a rush to get my son his food. I arrived opening the box as I handed it to my son and noticed only 2 slices of the ham/jalapeño pizza. I drove back to the establishment immediately after to investigate the issue by asking the young girls working there that helped me earlier questions about this to eventually end up seeing the misunderstanding and to my surprise after we found out that it was a simple misunderstanding and was charged for only 2 slices and not four, both gals offered the 2 slices of pizza for free to help alleviate the problem. You all may not see this as a big deal but for someone in my situation at that moment it was.Customer service these days in my opinion is rare now. So many disappointments in many local and SF establishments. Being an Executive Chef this simple yet huge gesture of customer service showed me why you guys are becoming a popular staple in our community. Not just because of the innovative flavors and great pizza but the culture you have with your staff seems evident. Kudos to your leadership and more importantly to the 2 young gals that made my horrible experience and a bad afternoon into a great one! Sorry forgot both of their names. A pizzeria is always starting off on a good note when they offer pizza by the slice. Unfortunately there are not too many of those that do in the Mountain View/Los Altos/Palo Alto area except for Pizza My Heart. I sometimes just want a couple of (different) slices for myself and not resort to getting a whole pie so thank you State of Mind Slice House.I have been to the State of Mind pizzeria in Los Altos, which is a larger establishment and definitely functions more as an actual restaurant compared to this place. However, the pizza served here is the exact same and what I have described to friends as an "elevated version" of the pizza served at Pizza my Heart. The style is relatively the same (a lot of people say it's New York style, which is a bit of a stretch but it's certainly unique) but with a better dough and fresher ingredients. I love the chili oil that they have on the side.My only qualm about this place is that the pizzas that they offer by the slice at any given time are very unoriginal. While they may have ten different pizzas on display, they are usually pepperoni (only), sausage (only), mushroom (only), cheese, you get the idea. There are probably only two pizzas that are "unique combos" that are available by the slice at any given time (and I have been here a few times). I guess it is a blessing in disguise as forces me to not overindulge.Overall, a great go-to for pizza by the slice in the Palo Alto area.

Had a chance to try State of Mind. We got this for takeout but this was a cute place perfect for takeout. We preordered the pizza we wanted but definitely order early as it took 30 minutes for the order to be ready.For the slices we tried:*Pesto - this is standard but delicious. Can't go wrong with this one!*Blanco - this was delicious and came with greens and this whipped ricotta which was absolutely fire!! Must get and my favorite slice from the ones we got. Very unique also*Goat Cheese- this was also a vegetarian slice and had goat cheese and cherry tomatoes. I liked the tart and the cheesy combo Overall, great experience and enjoyed the pizza!

10/10 for pizzas and service! We stopped here after a long road-trip cause we were craving something greasy & it hit all the right spots. My husband suggested we try different flavours so we got 4 veggie slices and a side of garlic knots. The knots were drenched in oil & not garlicky enough for my taste but the pizzas were amazing. We got SHROOMS, GREEN STUFF, EL BANCO & HEIRLOOM GOAT and each one was better than the previous. My top fave was heirloom goat with their juicy cherry tomatoes and least fav was probably the shrooms just cause of how the mushrooms lacked flavour. But it was still very good, just that I wouldn't want to eat an entire pie of that flavour. Quick and chirpy service, great tasting pizzas and a nice vibe is what makes this place great, hope to be back real soon.

We needed to grab a quick dinner and came across State of Mind Slice House with the raves reviews. Added plus it was close to our hotel. Once we arrived I could tell it occupied an OG Taco Bell building. Inside we ordered a slice of pepperoni and a slice of pepperoni with mushrooms. It only cost $12.65. Whatttt?! The slices were enough to satisfy our hunger so it was a great deal. I don't remember ever getting a meal this cheap, for 2 people! Score! It only took a few minutes for our pizza slices to be ready and we were off. They also sell whole pizzas too. The pizzas were pretty good for a by the slice place and we had no complaints. Great price point, decent pizza, and good portion. Definitely recommend.

hmm, i think this is definitely the best new york styled slice in the bay area. feel free to lmk if you have suggestions because i'm always looking for a great ny slice! the pepperoni and cheese slice folded pretty well, it was just the tip of the pizza that was a bit droopy and unable to be incorporated into the fold. the other two slices were definitely more fold friendly. service was quick, ambience is casual seating inside and outside. perfect for people watching. think there's a bathroom outside that requires a key, and they have a small parking lot but street parking seems pretty doable in the area too!

I've stopped here several times in the past two years. The first time was during a street festival in the neighborhood. Every time has been a good experience.The service is always very fast and super friendly. Always offering generous taste of the beers I have questions on. I've tried different unique appetizers and a few different pizzas. I like the pizza here. It goes very well with their extensive draft beer selection.The location has a bunch of bar seating along with regular tables and high tops. Sometimes we will make this a destination because there isn't anyplace just like it in S.F. but it's more often a stop when we're in the area and want a beer and a bite. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll open one in the city.

It's not easy finding a pizza place that sells by the slice in the Bay Area but I'm happy we stumbled upon State of Mind Slice House in Palo Alto. After visiting the jr. museum and zoo, we stopped by for an early lunch with our one year old daughter. My wife and I ordered sweet heat slices and a margherita. You can really tell how great a pizza place is by their most simplistic slice and their margherita is one of the best I've ever had. The service was great. The guys working offered solid recommendations for pizza and beer. And? They even cut my daughter's pizza into smaller pieces so she could feed herself. The building is small but there's some outdoor seating and they were playing great music the whole time we were there. Wife and I are already planning a date to their other location.

Best pizza in the neighborhood. Always fresh, consistent quality, solid YES ALWAYS! The staff are always friendly and kind. If you're ordering on a busy day like Halloween, make sure to give yourself a 30 minute pick-up buffer and order days ahead. They get SLAMMED and do their best to keep everyone happy.

Excellent little local pizzeria that serves pizza by the slice. It offers a large outdoor patio and a couple tables inside. Counter ordering style setup. They will offer to make fresh any pizza in the menu not already being served. The service was great and the food was phenomenal. They also offer some good beers! The pepperoni, the supreme and the pesto we our favorites. The pizza was some of the best I've had in a long while. We also got the garlic rolls, but we agreed the pizza was better. Definitely stop in and give it a try! They even had a seasonal veggie pizza with vegan ingredients.
