I've eaten here twice. The first time was well over a year ago and spontaneously. It was a warm Friday afternoon for dinner. They sat us in the back which was nicely set up. The service was very kind and attentive. I appreciated how they were welcoming to my young child despite it being a white linen table. They showed no fear of a child ordering pasta with marinara! Haha The second more recent time we ate here was planned although I forgot to make a reservation. Still, no problem. They took our party of four and offered us a seat outside immediately or inside with a 30-45 minute wait. We took the outside despite the cold. They had heaters nearby although they did let us know the one directly next to us wasn't working. It was during winter holiday time so they were a little busy but the service was still very kind. They apologized for the waits but we understood. The bread came out and was warm and yummy. When our food came out, everyone was pleased with their orders. We'll plan to come here again.

Our goal was to visit a local Italian place with some good pasta. The yelp rating definitely steered us wrong. Real wrong. I don't think this place is bad, but it's not like good either. The pasta dishes lacked flavor. I was really looking forward to it and at 28 a bowl of pasta, I really expected more. The pricing rivals top spots in San Francisco. Which is mind blowing. Caesar salad is off, not sure what it is. Almost like it's overly creamy or dairy like with very little of the flavor that should be there. Something was off. Someone was trying to get me to explain the situation, I would say it is like mid tier cruise ship level food. Not bad, you can finish it, but it's not like good. Lackluster at best. For the price, I cannot recommend it. I have eaten my share of pasta in the states and been to Italy multiple times. Yeah, not it. The server was great. A few tables of local seniors having a meal.

Came here with fam, party of 8, to celebrate New Year's Day. Came for dinner right at 5 pm and sat right away. Small dining area but has a charming Italian feel. Service was quick and attentive. Complimentary bread served hot, with my table asking for 3 rounds (lol), served with a roasted tomato/oil spread. My brother-in-law got the lasagna which was not in the menu. For my 2 nephews, one had rigatoni bolognese and the other buttered pasta. Will come again! Bruschetta - 4/5 - served on their soft bread with plenty of toppings. 3 different kinds which all packed a their own unique of flavor. Classic tomato and a balsamic punch, the eggplant/onion had an inviting umami flavor, and the roasted peppers were good quality. Burrata & Prosciutto - 4/5 - Prosciutto was plentiful and thin. Burrata was good quality although wish they served a larger amount. Garden Salad - 3.5/5 - generous portion, perfect amount of dressing. Pretty much just mixed greens and grated carrots. Truffle Gnocchi - 5/5 - This deserves a 10/5! Star of the night for me, a MUST try. The gnocchi were served hot and pillowy fresh. Larger and softer consistency than I'm used to, but it just went so well with the truffle sauce. The sauce was out of works, giving me cacio e pepe vibes with an amazing truffle taste. Papperdelle Bolognese - 5/5 - The noodles were served more al dente which went well with the beefy bolognese. The sauce itself was not too acidic and had an addicting flavor. Braised Short Rib & Polenta - 4/5 - Humungous portion, served with the bone. Meat was savory and tender. Polenta was smooth. Felt like it needed more polenta with the amount of meat that was served. Affogato - 4/5 - Poured a small strong espresso over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Great way to end the night!

This is a small and intimate restaurant that has a limited wait staff, but amazing food! When you walk in, there's a formal air about the place, but you can dress as casual as you'd like. They serve some bread as an appetizer, and the pasta dishes were cooked perfectly, with a good amount of sauce and meat. The clam pasta was particularly good!

Tiny restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating and the friendliest servers! The free focaccia was delicious and so was the caesar, but the pasta didn't really stand out to me, and ran about $22-27 each. Not sure if I'd come back for the food, but the service was excellent.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the bay! I've been here twice! The first time I got the vongole with clams and they were so generous with the clams. The second time I came I got their mushroom tomato pasta and that was incredible!!! The waiters are really nice and there's never been too much of a wait. It's a small intimate space and they recently added an outdoor dining area that's heated and cute. Love this place I'll definitely be back.

This restaurant is a whole in the wall but don't let it fool you. I kind of want to gatekeep it because it's so good. Free bread + yummy tomato sauce for dipping to start, which was served freshly hot. The main star of the show was the truffle gnocchi. My bf said it was the best gnocchi dish he's ever had. A huuuuge shout out to our waitress (I forgot her name) for giving us some tiramisu for my bday. It really put a cherry on top for our experience and that's why I'll always support family-owned businesses!!! Def make a reservation if possible, and if you're eating dinner as a walk-in, dress warm as half the seating is outside and San Mateo can get pretty chilly. If you're looking for Italian, try this place! Thank you!
