Sanraku Oakridge

Hands down, best authentic sushi in the South Bay! We used to go to their other location in San Francisco, and were super happy to find they had a location in the South Bay when we moved down here. Food is always consistent and high quality. Manager is very helpful and polite, and sushi chefs are actually Japanese, so sushi portions are the right size without all the unnecessary accoutrements (like various weirdly-named rolls covered in flavored mayo). They also have a rewards/points program, so if you go regularly, you always save money!

Don't be fooled by the mall location. Sanraku is a 5-star establishment with exceptional sushi chefs and the freshest, authentic Japanese dishes... the kind that make my mouth water when I walk in and my stomach sooooo happy when I am rolled out. ("Rolled" out, get it?!! Sushi ROLLS and also rolled out because I am so utterly full!)Coming from San Francisco and eating sushi since I was a kid, I have become very particular about the quality of the fish I eat. Each time I've come here for dinner, Sanraku has exceeded my expectations in every category: flavor, freshness, service, and even ambiance. I sat inside each time (not in the outdoor "patio" section), so you really forget you're in a mall. Sanraku is a slam dunk.

3.5 stars Located inside Oakridge mall. We got there right when they opened at 11am on a Saturday and got seated right away. We sat "outside," (which is still inside the mall) since it was brighter and felt more spacious with a baby. Just a lot of on lookers while dining since they're located by an entrance. We ordered.. IKA YAKI $22 -grilled squid with teriyaki and shichimi mayo. The squid was tender with a nice chew. Some pieces had a nice char. The teriyaki sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. It also came with japanese pickles, which I didn't care for. 4/5* SPIDER ROLL $17 -soft shell crab, cucumber, tobiko, shiso leaf. I could taste every component in the roll but the soft shell wasn't crispy and there was too much rice. They put A LOT of tobiko inside and for some reason, the roll just didn't look fresh/appealing to me. 3/5* TEMPURA ROLL $10 -shrimp tempura, cucumber. It was still warm when I came out. The rice wasn't packed on too thick. I enjoyed the crunch from the thinly sliced cucumbers and the sesame seeds. 4/5* SAKE TORO NIRIGI $11 -seared salmon belly, came in two. Fatty, good smoky sear. Rice was okay, could be softer. 3.5/5*IKURA NIGIRI $9 -salmon roe, came in two. The roe had a nice fresh, salty pop to them. The seaweed was a bit chewy and the rice could be softer. 3.5/5* My husband also ordered their chicken teriyaki lunch bento. He said the chicken was well cooked, still juicy for being a chicken breast. The teriyaki sauce was very flavorful. He would order it again but the portion was definitely small for $19. Overall, pretty good.. nothing outstanding. Decent spot to satisfy sushi cravings, location is convenient.

Sanraku, hands down, is my favorite sushi restaurant in this area! I've been there twice, and each time, the experience was exceptional.Reservations are highly recommended to avoid a 30-minute wait. Making a reservation online is a breeze.The food is simply amazing.Sake Don (5/5): I'm a huge fan of salmon and fish egg bowls, and Sanraku's version is no exception. The salmon is fresh and generously portioned. I finished the entire bowl in no time.Chicken Karaage (5/5): The chicken karaage is bursting with flavor and incredibly tasty. It's perfectly fried and comes with a delicious mayo dipping sauce.Salmon Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll (5/5): These rolls are incredibly generous with the amount of fish, and they offer great value for money.The service at Sanraku is truly exceptional. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making it one of the best service restaurants in the Bay Area.Parking is ample in the mall, although it can get busy during lunchtime. However, you should have no trouble finding a spot.The restaurant also has a sushi bar where you can reserve a seat in advance. The ambiance is relaxed and inviting, with a Japanese restaurant feel.I highly recommend Sanraku to my friends and coworkers. They all raved about their experience.

Popped in for lunch today and had a great time (4 days before Christmas). We were expecting a long line, but only waited about 30 minutes for a table for 6. Service was slow, but they were BUSY and the malls were crazy. We were expecting to wait a bit. Food and service was great! We got a couple of rolls, a lunch bento box, their unagi tendon bowl and a salmon rice bowl. Everything was great. Kitchen and staff were very accommodating to make me a negihama roll which is not typically on their menu.

This is my go to sushi restaurant in South San Jose. It's conveniently located inside Oakridge Mall. Their rolls are always fresh and delicious, and the sushi rice is perfection.All their appetizers are great, but if you're unsure what to order, I highly recommend the Sushi Tokujo. Not only is it beautifully presented, but the taste perfectly matches its stunning appearance.The male manager is very attentive and consistently checks in with customers to ensure their satisfaction.

This is not our normal Japanese place in the mall. Surprisingly everything we've tried here is very good. Special treat for the kids to go and have their bento boxes and miso soup. Service is always friendly and the place is always busy. Does have a few places to sit inside and out, but it gets full quickly. Would always recommend to friends and family if they're in the area.

Came here for dinner with my husband and toddler. It was dinner so we have to wait maybe 20 minutes but at least we could walk around and tbey texted us when it was time to head back. Food came out quickly even though it was pretty busy. Usually were seated in the mall side vs inside the restaurant which I prefer with my toddler. She can be a little too talkative. She loves the food which is great for me. We'll probably be back soon when we're hungry for sushi at the mall.

Fantastic chef's specials. I especially enjoyed the flavor and presentation of the Kani Chawanmushi. Lots of crab on perfect savory custard. The toro spoons and chirashi are solid dishes. I rate the quality of chirashi by not only the freshness and texture of the fish but also the quality of the rice.
