Mislabeled allergens. At first I was thrilled that Saltalk offered an allergen filter. Over the past few weeks I had ordered a few meals and began to trust them. I had stopped rigorously checking the ingredient list on everything. Then I ordered their Penne Alfredo that was marked "Gluten Free."About half way through the meal I was thinking, "this is some really tasty GF pasta, I wonder what it's made out of." The ingredient label on the container said Wheat. Panic. I went back to check the website, and it said Gluten Free. Maybe everything's fine. After trying to unsuccessfully call their customer service line twice, a friend at work was able to call their contact and confirm the worst. Now I'm out of commission for probably about a week, missing the super important onsite week at work that only happens every few months. After this incident I can not trust any allergen label on their site. Another Yelp review mentions they are not labeling Oyster Sauce as shellfish, and one coworker said they doubted the accuracy of a vegetarian label. They need to fix this before someone ends up in the hospital.

So I *think* this is the same restaurant listed as "Golden Bowl LLC" in Doordash (which I ordered from) - same address, and I saw an old Yelp picture of tofu skin salad with celery which looks like what I ordered. Everything came wrapped in plastic wrap, which I've never seen - it was plastic wrap, lid, then another layer of plastic wrap! I thought "Wow, they really go above and beyond to make sure there are no leaks and the food stays hot!" Um no. Turns out the round lids are a different size than the round bowls. I couldn't close them together. So I guess the restaurant figured this double plastic-wrapping would be the solution to bottoms and tops that don't fit together. Aside from this strange issue and the portions being smaller than other restaurants, the food was pretty good! We had a special $10 off promo from Doordash, so we got:- Griddle Cooked Shrimp - SO loves ganguo (griddle cooked/dry pot) so he really liked the flavors and was sucking every last drop from the shrimp heads- Tofu Skin Salad with Celery - this was ok, wish the tofu skin was thicker and softer- Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings - this was pretty good too!- Pork Pot Sticker - decent, prefer the potstickers from Apple Green Bistro- Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce - really solid for fans of yu xiang rou si- Broccoli with Tofu - tasty sauce and fresh broccoli and tofuWorth a try!

I have wanted to try this place for awhile since it is close to home and seems like a new concept. They are not quite a restaurant but a kitchen with delivery and pick up options. I haven't gone into their storefront yet. You need to order online in advance:- Order before 09:30 and get the lunch at 11:00 - 12:30- Order before 14:00 and get the dinner at 16:00 - 18:00There are no delivery charges above a certain amount. I ordered two items, and delivery charge was waived. I just need to tip for delivery or pick up without tipping option. I got my dinner around 4:39 pm on time. I ordered dinner for two days in advance. My first order were:- 3 cup chicken 3/5 - with sweet yellow bell peppers, flavor was good but there were lot of bone fragments - Taiwanese beef noodle soup 4/5 - my daughter and husband shared it. They both love it. Great flavor. Anyways, give it a try - a break from the food delivery apps. Supposedly, ingredients they use are higher quality and using their own drivers.

Quarantine Eats #53:Decided to try something a little different and ordered takeout from here last Wednesday for lunch. The order was sent on time by the delivery guy, and the food itself smelled very appealing and homey. The two bentos consisted of 4 stir fried/braised dishes each with well-cooked white rice. I particularly enjoyed the aromatic griddle shredded cabbage and the moo shoo pork dishes. The spicy stewed beef rice noodle's broth was packed with spiciness, but provided a nice compliment to the bentos. Definitely worth a try for anyone craving some down to earth chinese food!

Missing Saltalk in Foster City farmer's market after pandemic started and found out they do delivery so giving it a try on their bento.Portion/Price: Fair given the distance between their location/my home. It's like 25-30% more comparing to those combo one can get from deli in grocery store. However, the quality is definitely betterQuality: Few notches up comparing to deli in grocery store. Similar idea in offering varieties and Saltalk uses better ingredients. Ordered two bento; among the six dishes, the bean curd with shredded pork is the best. The sweet/sour belt fish is a surprise. (Was worried that it could be too fishy and it's not at all) Other dishes could use less oil but surely smell good.Service: the update from app txt message is right on spot! Even it's running later than schedule (not a big problem if one has flexible schedule), the estimate is accurate and the food is still warm after 1.5 hours from the time of preparationWould I order again? Yes for two reasons: support small businesses and like the varieties. Probably will mix bento with the other chef specials they offer.

Heard this service from my neighbor. I ordered beef with peppercorn, egg salted custard mooncakes, and sweet sago with papaya.First we received an email confirmation along with our order also the pickup place. However, they didn't provide any tracking or the exact time when the food will be ready to be picked up. They provided the phone number of the pick up location, even so, they only said food will be ready after four pm. They should have said it in the very beginning. Why I gave this service two stars?Because the sweet sago dessert with papaya was NOT even edible. I posted the pictures of before and after I touched the food. First I tasted the sago that looked yellow cream with few mini tapioca balls, the taste was very weird. Like you had a sour coconut cream that had been sitting in the fridge for so long. That exact same taste and odor. So I tried to heat the dessert up, since my neighbor said it's supposed to be served hot. It still tasted the same weird flavor, very punget odor of broken/ sour coconut milk, I couldn't even digest it so I had to throw the whole dish. Glad it was only costed me $3.50. I'd already have asked for a refund if it costed me more than $5. Mooncakes:Another disaapointing dish. I don't read/speak chinese. However, they didn't provide any instruction in English that the mooncakes were supposed to be heated up in microwave for about 5-7seconds upon serving. They posted an instruction but in mandarin on the back of the package. How was I even suppose to know? Very disorganized.I tried to heat up the mooncakes a day after, and they were not even melted at the center. Such a dissapointment. Will not buy from this service anymore.

Got a meal delivered - chicken with zucchiniIt was pretty bad.Generally speaking, basically flavorless. But the worst part was horrible quality chicken. Got multiply pieces of hard gristle that I basically couldn't chew. It was awful. Decided to throw out more than half the dish.

I have ordered from Saltalk many times both for my family and for corporate lunches. I am originally from Shanghai and have lived in NYC for many years before moving to the Bay Area and have high standard when it comes to Chinese food. Saltalk is by far the best when it comes to the taste and the service. Owners use only high quality fresh ingredients and really listen to their customer for feedback. A few of their dishes are my all time favorite: 1) Shanghainese short ribs 糖醋小排骨 (juicy and tender, perfect balance with sugar and vinegar) 2) spicy beef combination 夫妻肺片: it's a cold beef appetizer soaked in Sichuan hot sauce, very authentic 3) Braised Beef Roll牛肉煎饼: it's a Chinese beef burrito, so healthy and delicious. All of their dishes are good. Their soup used to be free and it's probably the best free soup ever. They charge for the soup now but only for $1. Don't miss it :) Sometimes even if I don't order from them, I still like to browse through their menu, it changes daily and has many authentic Chinese dishes that I can't easily find in other restaurants. Their menu reminds me of home.

Awful food quality. Disorganized employees. Avoid SaltalkI ordered lunch for pickup - lamb kebob's and white rice. The worst part is the poor quality of the lamb - part of it I could not eat - too much fatty substance that was awful and not chewable. It was only a 4-minute drive home, yet by that time the meal was cold. I will guess that Saltalk cooked it as soon as I ordered it, then let it sit for 30 minutes. I told them pickup in 45 minutes. The reality is that Saltalk does not offer contactless pickup. They said no credit card payment; so I had to hand cash to the employee and he had to go in back to get change twice. There was contact and that is not maximizing safety during thus dangerous pandemic. After they said "no credit card," I gave the employee cash. He brought back one dollar when he really owed me about $8. I had to correct him and so he went in back to get more cash. Either the employee was dishonest or he cannot make change. Either option is unacceptable. In addition to the above mess, another indication that Saltalk is poorly organized is their website. I used it in an attempt to order pickup food. Their website claimed they offer pickup and delivery. But when I ordered food, their website required food delivery. No option for pickup. And worse yet, they offered a window of about 2.5 hours for delivery, which is not acceptable for my eating schedule. The only good part was that the lamb was seasoned quite well.I cannot recommend Saltalk and I will not order their food again. Yuk!

We have Friday lunches via Saltalk and it's amazing! The food selection is incredible with over 30 cuisines and so many yummy dishes to select from. They set up our company and each employee has their own profile so they get to choose whatever they like. Their commercial kitchen is right down the street from our office so one stop and fresh delish food! I highly recommend Saltalk. Oh! and their staff is fabulous and very helpful!
