Finally I got the chance to try Roy's and it didn't disappoint. From the outside looking in, Roy's has the best location. Situated in the corner lot in the heart of Japan Town, across from the Buddhist temple, Roy's has a cute outdoor seating area with ample spaces. In a sunny day like today, you can see people hanging out here with friends and pets, having a sip of coffee while catching up or doing their homework. Parking is a bit tricky as it's Japan town. But if you're willing to walk a bit, there're always street parkings 1 or 2 blocks away. One step inside Roy's and you'll be taken back to older historic times. Roy's so charming with two corner big window, classic coke dispensing machine and a red brick wall with arts and plants donning it. The delicious coffee smell mixed with yummy pastries welcomed me and made me feel immediately at home. The line was a bit long but it moved fast. I order Green Tea Latte on their special menu. My drink came out fast. I really enjoyed how light and smooth it was! The latte left a lovely aftertaste and I grew more and more in love with every sip. I'll definitely come back on a different day to actually sit down and enjoy a slow Saturday morning next time here. Until then, sayonara!

I honestly feel that this might be a one off experience but it's still really disappointing to pay over 8bucks for a latte and have it be 1/3 foam. The latte itself was also not very good ...It's already a splurge to get coffee from a Shop now so I'm just a little upset. I love supporting small businesses and hope that no one else has this experience. But I don't think I would ever come back to get a coffee from here again. Such a bummer since it looked super cute , busy and the staff were friendly.

San Jose Japantown is a lovely area, I've admired their restaurants and shops but haven't really taken a deep dive of historic spots. Here was my experience.AMBIANCE:Parking: Street parking. Plenty of parking but it can get busy.Seating: Inside and outside seating. Room for 40 people or so. Good for small groups or individual.Vibes: Japantown is a pretty charming place. A lot of local shops and eateries. The spot itself is pretty charming. You get the historic feelings of a gas station but the modern feelings from its current design. I enjoy the lite rock music in the back. Good place to catch up with a friend or get some solo work done.FOOD:Sencha (Recommend)Served hot and as advertised - a little grassy, some sweetness, and oceanic tones. I morever felt the Earthiness like all most green teas are.CUSTOMER SERVICE:Great! Got my order pretty quickly.TL; DR OVERALL:4 Stars. Good selections, pleasant drink, and great experience. I felt like I was immersed in Japantown by hanging out in this area journaling and observing the interactions of people. There may be your chain coffee shops but this one stands out with its specialized drinks and great service. Best wishes to the Murotsune family! Until next time. #RepresentASIANTIPS:*They serve some lite brekkie and baked goods (while supplies last)

Roy's Station Coffee & Tea is such a gem in the Japantown neighborhood. Their coffee menu is fantastic, especially the seasonal drinks (aka barista specials) that are always so creative and delicious. For my coffee lovers out there, you're in for a treat--every cup is perfectly balanced and never too sweet, which I really appreciate. Their tea selection is also impressive, with plenty of options to satisfy any tea enthusiast. The staff here are amazing--friendly, fast, and efficient, even when the line stretches out the door. They keep things moving smoothly without ever compromising on quality. The ambiance is another highlight. The shop is housed in a charming throwback of an old-school gas station, giving it a casual, relaxed, and welcoming vibe. Whether you're stopping by for a quick caffeine fix or settling in to enjoy your drink, Roy's Station feels like a cozy neighborhood spot. Highly recommend!

Drink: Matcha w/ Strawberry. I love me some matcha & strawberry but this missed the mark on the Strawberry. The matcha was good but the strawberry was like a syrup and not fresh, which is what I prefer.Ambiance: Hip coffee shop vibes, friendly staff, and a good amount of outside seating.Parking: Street parking only and it can definitely be difficult to find a spot. Bring your walking shoes and check out some Japantown shops along the path to Roy's

Really cute coffee spot located in San Jose's Japantown! Parking can be a little tough during peak hours since it is street parking only, but there was plentiful of parking on the Friday morning we came in. The vibe of the shop is really cute and has an old timey feel since it is decorated as an old (gas?) station. The inside is pretty spacious and there are lots of tables if you want to study here or just hang out! They also have a bathroom! Service is really nice and they were able to give good recommendations to my friends and I! We ended up getting the sweetened matcha latte, mango creamsicle smoothie, and a churro decaf latte. The matcha latte wasn't as sweet as I'd like, but still very earthy and good for people who don't have a sweet tooth! The mango creamsicle was a little overpowered by the creamsicle part and tasted more like yakult, but was still refreshing. The churro decaf latte also wasn't really sweet, but had a good cinnamony after taste to it.

I've seen Roy's in Japantown for years but I finally stopped by for the first time several weeks ago and ordered the iced matcha latte. I was pretty disappointed since the matcha taste was pretty weak and watered down, and the drink was overly milky. If I come back in the future, I don't think I would get the matcha latte as you can get better drinks elsewhere though I'd be open to trying another drink in the menu. It can be pretty hard to find a seat on the weekends, as it gets pretty busy. Street parking is available throughout Japantown.

Saw this place when we first arrived to San Jose two days ago, but it was already closed, so today we made sure to stop by first thing in the morning as we are headed home to SoCal. Great atmosphere with friendly staff who greet you and make your order speedy fast! Lots of cool old timey decor like a corded landline telephone, a gas pump, a soda fridge. I think maybe this location used to be a gas station now converted to a cool coffee shop. Lots of yummy looking pastries too, but today we just got iced dirty chais and a drip coffee. A couple indoor tables, lots of tables on the patio where you can people watch from this corner of Japantown. If I lived here, I would visit all the time!

After attending viva Calle bike function , Roy's was a stop on the rest break. The line was pretty long but went by fairly quickly. I got the matcha strawberry which was fairly good, I was hoping for the strawberry to be a bit freshly like a puree. The pastries in the glass looked amazing so next time I will have to switch up my drink order and maybe try a pastry. Service was very friendly and loved the old school gas station building.

Best local coffee shop in Japantown, SJ! The staff is super friendly and the locals are all so nice. Great place to grab and go coffee or stay for a while with their indoor and outdoor seating options! Check out their Japantown merch too, my hubby just scored an awesome limited edition tumbler! We LOVE Roy's!
