Hands down my favorite Chinese bakery in the Bay Area! The Fremont location is so much easier to access, with plenty of parking, compared to the SF location. Literally everything is a hit, but we also find ourselves grabbing the egg and spam pineapple bun, BBQ pork pineapple bun, real pineapple bun, salted egg pineapple bun, egg tarts and the butter pineapple bun. The swag is also adorable and my husband loves his pineapple king hat.The staff is so sweet and I have arrived once a little past closing, and they still were able to accommodate me! Like the SF location, it is an also a stall, and I wish there were more comfy seating, but not a must since I usually just grab and go!

I had Pineapple King a few years back at their San Francisco location, so I was excited to learn they had a shop in Fremont! We came by on a rainy weekday. The storefront is mainly outdoors, but luckily there wasn't a line so we weren't completely drenched by the rain. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered a variety of buns, but I was most excited for the pandan. They came out soft & warm. Overall, it was just ok. The pandan flavor just wasn't there for me& tasted almost too artificial. The bun was good though. If I come back, I think I'd be better off getting the bun with just the plain butter.

Is it good? Yes. Is it 45 mins to an hour wait good? Probably not. The pineapple buns are soft and fresh for sure. I just don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze.

Friend was raving about this place so I have to check it out! I love pineapple buns and literally grew up with them in Taiwan. I understand this place offers Hong Kong style buns but I have tried these in Taiwan as well.We got the butter supreme box and a matcha filling bun. To wash them off I also got a hot milk coffee/tea - a must for me when visiting a Hong Kong restaurant or cafe.Well I guess the cold butter wedged in the bun combination is something I have to get used to. The ones I had in Taiwan the bun was warm so I enjoyed them but here the buns are cold. The matcha bun did not tasted any matcha flavor but does look the part. The hot drink was decent, small, but decent.I will enjoy if I am given these buns, but I will not be waiting in line and pay for them with my own $$.

My favorite place for pineapple buns in the Bay Area. It's no where as good as a few of the HK cafes in Southern California. But short of driving 6-hrs south, these are the next best things. The buns are always soft, and the crust is crunchy and sweet. We especially love the various flavored butter options. We tried the pandan flavored butter today, it was really good and will be my new favorite

I LOOOVE Pineapple King! I'm so happy that they have a location closer to me in Fremont now. We visited for a weekday lunch and there were only 3 other parties in line.I still have yet to try more of their items, but every time I go I always end up ordering the Deluxe Box because it never fails me. The pineapple buns are perfect because they aren't too sweet, and in the deluxe box the fillings are soo delicious! The mango one is my fav :)Definitely a must visit if you're in the area. You won't be disappointed!

Finally, a bakery that specializes in pineapple bread! It's my favorite style so my standards are high. The ambience is lacking, but that's ok. The line moved really fast!Pineapple King did not disappoint. I tried a a majority of their flavors and they're all fluffy, lightly sweet and delicious. The standouts are definitely the OG and the Grandpa. Can't beat the classics. My only problem is that their flavors don't elevate above similar asian bakeries with more variety. I have to be really craving Pineapple Bread to come back. Which is really often!

I stopped by at Pineapple King Bakery at 4:15 p.m. on a Saturday afternoon and there was no line at the self-ordering kiosk. No more than two minutes later, my order was boxed up, called out, and ready for pickup. In total, I ordered six items - five pineapple buns and one croissant egg tart.Of the bunch, the croissant egg tart is the only item I would probably not get again. The crust is advertised as a croissant crust and while it's flakey, the layers are a bit dense and compacted. I suspect because we stopped by so late in the day, the egg tarts were not as fresh as they could've been. Moving on to the pineapple buns, I got two plains ones, and three filled with butter. Of the buttered ones, one was plain, another salted egg yolk, and the last one, guava butter. The flavors are subtle, but discernible. What really shined for me -- and the reason for my five star review, is the quality of the pineapple buns themselves. They're incredibly light and fluffy! Easily some of the best I've had in the Bay.Between $3 and $5 a piece, these buns aren't the cheapest pastries but they're well worth it for the occasional treat. Last but not least, if you don't enjoy butter, simply put, you will not enjoy the buns filled with a slab of butter. The flavor does not disguise the butter.Definitely worth stopping by, especially if you don't see a long line.

While I've had treats from this bakery before, it was my first time picking them up myself. It wasn't very crowded when I went, and there are no seats inside to sit down though you can sit outside at the outdoor table if the weather is nice. I got the classic pineapple buns that have the butter in the middle. I liked the exterior of the buns - it was light, fluffy, and had good flavor. It may be my own personal preference as I don't usually enjoy heavy foods, but the butter was rather overpowering and I could have done without it. Next time I'll be sure to try the other flavors, especially the lighter ones. Growing up, I ate a lot of pineapple buns for breakfast and while there is no shortage of them in the Bay Area, Pineapple King is a solid choice to get these famous baked goods!

Yum! I came by as I saw so many ads online for the taro custard tarts. When I came around 5pm though, they were all sold out. Instead I ordered the normal Portuguese tarts and a few other buns. The tart was very good and custardy. The buns are good too but much more expensive than if you buy them in other bakeries (and they're smaller). My favorites are always the guava or pandan butter ones.
