Okie POKE, can we hear it for some of the most innovative poke bowls I've tried lately? If you've never tried Peruvian-style poke bowls, you definitely have to check out @peruvianpokebowls located at @ruff_food pickup in San Jose. They offer unique menu options that bring together traditional Japanese and Peruvian flavors to create a refreshing concoction that I haven't been able to find elsewhere. Featured here:Sakena: Fresh Salmon, sliced cucumber, avocado chunks, pickled red cabbage, green onion, sesame seeds, nori seaweed, paired with our hoi sin ponzu sauce (would recommend drizzling just a tiny bit) on top of a bed of soft quinoa, sushi rice or greens. I LOVED this bowl, and would highly recommend if you're looking for something that's a bit more traditional Japanese style. Lemona: Fresh Mahi Mahi, avocado chunks, diced pineapple, pickled veggies (carrot, daikkon and cabbage), sliced cucumber, edamame, chopped red onions with cilantro and chili, nori seaweed on top, paired with our nikkei leche de tigre (sweet and citrusy) on top of a bed of soft quinoa, sushi rice or greens. This Peruvian-inspired bowl has a lot more variety of ingredients, and I really loved how the sweet and spicy flavors of the onions, chili and Nikkei leche de tigre sauce really complemented the mahi mahi!

This place has CLOSED. Sadly went to check it out & just wasted my time. I wish the business would update it or if it moved, put in the new location.

I had a discount code for Peruvian poke so I decided to try it out with my sister. We were surprised at how extensive the menu was. I ordered the lemona poke and my sister got the fish ceviche. Once you arrive at the ghost kitchen, you click on the link and it'll let you know which locker to pick up the food from. Pick up was very quick and parking was easy to find. The food didn't taste fresh but for a discounted price, we still ate it. My poke bowl came with very little fish and the fish tasted really rubbery. I found the sauce on my bowl to be way too sweet and hard to eat after a few bites. The ceviche was the opposite and was very citrusy. Fish quality for the ceviche was also weird. The ceviche came with a side of paella with good flavor but definitely tasted like some microwaved premade rice. Overall, the flavors were off and not balanced. Probably wouldn't return due to the quality and price.

The prettiest poke bowls ever! I love their colorful presentation, as well as the variety of toppings they provide. I especially appreciate the peruvian fusion -- the Peruvian crispy corn they add into the bowl adds a beautiful salty crunch to your bite! Obsessed with our orders, and we plan to be back soon to try the rest of the menu. Check out @janeteats on Instagram for our fun in-depth review!
