I wanted to make sure this Max review is for 1155 El Camino Real South San FranciscoVisited Max after a funeral as soon as they opened. There was only one server at that time handling orders for both dine-in and takeout, as well as acting as the cashier. Many customers who visit this restaurant know their specialties and tend to order a lot, myself included.Benjamin our server managed to handle all the orders I gave him for dine in party of three, including my specific request juicy whole fried chicken on the inside and crispy on the outside not burnt. He managed to meet all my requests perfectly.Despite being full, I needed to cancel the dessert as we were too stuffed, even though they are known for their halo halo. Max you continue to provide excellent service. Benjamin deserves this recognition please feel free to share this review with him.

Food = 4 starsService = 3 starsBut wheelchair accessibility = 0 stars!Food: Ok first off, I'm pretty Pinay & this place is a regular spot for Filipinos. So when it came down to ordering, we got it down. Lechon Kawali was a winner (no surprise) & the sizzling tofu, super yummy! The sinigang broth was tasty, included veggies, & was a generous size for $6+. Chicken was delish as expected. But two downfalls were their pancit (though flavorable) wasn't made with glass noodles as expected with traditional pancit and the fresh lumpia was unfortunately forgettable. Service: They didn't greet us right away or escort us to our table. No additional help at all even with a disabled person in a wheelchair. Disappointing. They also gave us other people's orders, not once but TWICE! There were only two servers and one of them was also bussing tables and running the register. Clearly understaffed. Now, let's talk about the parking (check my photos). There is NO RAMP. Stairs lead to street parking. And the entrance from where we parked was COMPLETELY blocked with heavy plants. The hub had to physically move it away and move it back. This needs to be fixed ASAP. We definitely weren't expecting much at all and seriously for a Max's, this is a pretty good one. Just got flustered with this lack of common sense.

After a long international flight, I crave some Kare-kare. Where here already at South San Francisco, might as well have it at the good 'ol reliable Max's Restaurant. Throw in their famous fried chicken as well as the Crispy Pata. I think my kids have not yet been to a Max's Restaurant so time for firsts. We added Garlic fried rice and Pancit Canton as well.Yes, they still have it. Kare-kare was velvety and full of peanut flavor. The chicken? Still awesome, just like how I remembered it first in Scout Tuazon. Crispy Pata has a proper crunch with tender meat inside. Pretty much all of our meal was as good as I remembered. I'd like to point out though, how this branch needs a dire refreshing. I reckon how grand looking the restaurant was about a decade ago or so when we last ate here. Form the outside with its tall glass windows that continues to the slant entrance door, it looked grand. Now, everything looks worn down that continues into the dining area.

I came here with my daughter, she ordered pork sinigang and I got kare-kare. The sinigang was good but what happened to the kare-kare? They served bones with very little meat or none at all! The eggplant wasn't cooked enough and their bagoong didn't look like bagoong, I had to call the waitress and asked, she confirmed that it was! Huh? Then they charged $9 for a large bowl of rice! Very disappointed! It used to be my favorite place to eat kare-kare but the quality has diminished. Time to look for a better place. Sorry Max!

Max's restaurant of South San Francisco is pretty awesome for handling big groups such as my big family. The service was pretty good considering that there was nearly 25 of us.The ambience was a normal Filipino restaurant serving family style meals!Per usual I bring my own American ketchup because I don't like the taste of Filipino ketchupOne star less because they ran out of ube ice cream!

pinakbet had NO taste...rice was mushy. Beef ribs had hardly no meat like they cut off the top pies left a little side meat and over cooked them nothing like the picture. I do Not recommend this place...SERVICE SUCKS...and not friendly...all my family said thank you each time when a plate of food came out..and NO RESPONSE. When we left the place we said thank you NO response either..need to work on being friendly to the customer. And the girl was at the front desk looks like she was counting tips or something with her headphones in just horrible service!
