Evergreen welcomed a new banh mi shop earlier this summer and it still managed to captivate the masses!Grilled pork and egg is solid, with juicy sauced up pork with a hint of charcoal flavor. I can barely taste the egg but the scallions and mayo bring out the pork as the star of the show. The dac biet, or special combo, is where it's at featuring premium cold cuts and a generous amount of pate with more iron taste. The bread ranges from perfectly golden and soft with a crunchy exterior to the harder side. The pickled daikon is so flavorful and the thickness allows for it to fall limp but yet still retain a nice crunch. Though you may be in for a wait and they don't make your sandwiches until you arrive even with phone orders, it's a good change in pace from our regular spot! Also they sell lots of catering trays and Viet dishes I've yet to try so I'm open to recommendations!

This is my favourite place to get banh mi in San Jose.My go-to is the #1 dac biet mama house, which is loaded with cha (vietnamese ham), jambon, gio thu (head cheese), ham, cha bong heo (pork meat floss), and your usual pickled daikon and carrots, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, pate and bo (Vietnamese butter/mayo).I like that they cut your sandwiches in half for you, making it easier to eat and for sharing. However, if you don't want it cut, just let the staff know. They are made with their fresh baguettes and they even stay good the next day. We also got their pate, which you can buy on its own in a small container. They also sell other foods as well.

Okay, the baguettes here are legit! They are made in house too. My first order was a combo banh mi and meatballs with salted eggs banh mi at $8 each. I also ordered a small container of pate and mayo at $7 each. A bit steep for the mayo unless they use high quality oil and eggs. I'm pretty sure they sweeten their mayo. Service here was friendly. The bread was crispy and airy, resembling the ones in Vietnam. The filling is just the right amount and is well seasoned. This is going to be my new go to banh mi shop in San Jose. They also have a ton of other Vietnamese snacks, some made elsewhere. I regret not buying the mangosteens as they were soft and ripe.

Love the service. It's bright, organized, clean, and the fact that they accept phone orders and cards. Gavin and I came this past Saturday to get 2 cha lua (steamed pork roll) and 2 banh mi. We were not eating meat that day, so we asked if they offer vegetarian options. They do and both were so delicious. It was xa xiu (pictured) chay and a ga nuong chay. I will say that their cha lua is very good, but Duc Huong still tops the list. Both of their banh mi chay (vegetarian banh mi) were inhaled by both me and Gavin in a matter of seconds. To be frank, we did eat half of a banh mi those times so technically it wasn't gluttonous. Cannot wait to return.

My 1st experience with the sticky rice with Chinese sausage, steam pork, pork floss, fried shrimp and quail egg on top was amazing...so good that I was willing to drive 30 minutes to get but the second time with the same dish was disappointing...is there suppose to be pate on my sticky rice?! All I could taste was pate from the dish...small tray $60 - ouch! High Price point and inconsistent flavors = will not be coming back...service very friendly and efficient, deli type ambiance...

When it comes to service and speed, this place is definitely a five star location. It's clean, bright, and welcoming. The man that took my order was very kind! They have a lot of cool stuff but I have no idea what most of it is. I'm sure the Vietnamese community knows ways more and so I posted pictures in case there's certain things you're curious if they carry but I would t be able to tell you. As for the food - I got the grilled tofu bahn mi. I originally wanted the BBQ tofu but the man here said the grilled was better. He was also very considerate and asked whether or not I needed the sandwich to be totally vegan so he wouldn't add mayonnaise or butter. Those were fine, I got my sandwich and I will say, right off the bat, the bread is SO soft and just the perfect texture. Overall the sandwich wasn't anything special. It's very OK. Not a lot of flavors or depth but it gets the job done.

Super cute place with very friendly service. I loooove that they offer tropical fresh fruits. On numerous occasions we've gotten good quality mangosteens here where other fruit shops are offering much older/inferior quality mangosteens. The Banh mi was yummy too! Will definitely be back.

I love the mom and pops storefront and as soon as you walk in -- you could feel a great sense of family and community. The nice ladies running the front of the house have a great sense of urgency and move the lines quickly and efficiently. We did some grocery shopping next door so stopped in for a sandwich and coffee as I was beginning to feel hungry. The menu boards feature a variety of Banh Mi and there are lots of party tray options available also (note taken for my next potluck invite!). Aromas from the freshly baked bread envelopes your senses as soon as you walk through the doors, and I'm here for it!Banh Mi was good. Looking forward to returning in the near future.
