I visited Mama Coco on a quiet Thursday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant was nearly empty, which gave us a peaceful dining experience, but I could see how this place could really shine during busier times. The service was exceptional; the staff was incredibly kind and attentive, making us feel right at home.We started with the tortilla soup, and it was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of spices. It was clear that the ingredients were fresh, and it set a high bar for the rest of the meal.Next, we tried the shrimp ceviche, which was another highlight. The portion was generous, with an abundance of shrimp in every bite. It was fresh, tangy, and vibrant--definitely a must-try if you love seafood. For the main course, we had the steak and shrimp burrito, and it did not disappoint. The combination of tender steak and succulent shrimp was flavorful and well-seasoned. Wrapped in a soft tortilla, it made for a filling and satisfying meal.Overall, I was impressed with the quality of food, the service, and the great value for money. Mama Coco definitely offers a wonderful dining experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Mexican flavors. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

The place is very nice and looks clean but there are a few things that to me are red flags:The place was smoky as we walked in and stayed that way for the entire time we were there (45-50 min.).The service was so slow, even when we were the only customers inside. The food took about 20 min to arrive and the host took forever to come back after delivering the food. We had to go ask for the check and a to go box because the host was chitchatting on the other side. The food flavors and variety are good, but to me, service was 6/10.

Met up family here for lunch and it was perfect because my 2 kids were entertained the whole time by the play kitchen they had and also baby toys! Very cool that they have the space to do this in the back patio. The food was good and the service was good. The only odd thing was the michelada came in a glass that wasn't big enough for the whole beer so the mixture isn't right when you add more beer to it after? Not a big thing. Just grateful for a space that's great for toddlers! It's also close to Saint franks coffee and the Caltrain station. Everything was walkable!

3.5 starsMama Coco is a colorful, homey Mexican restaurant offering a menu of fresh, vibrant dishes. The Pescado Asado was a fillet of pan-roasted snapper served over a creamy yellow squash puree along with zucchini, corn, peppers, mango, tomato relish, and coconut rice. The Carne a la Tampiqueña was a variety plate that came with sliced skirt steak grilled with onions/peppers, mole enchiladas, guacamole, refried pinto beans, and red rice. Finally, we had the Huarache (meaning "sandal"), made of a fried oblong masa dough served over black bean puree and topped with cactus salad, cheese, cream, green salsa, and a choice of meat (we had the Cochinita Pibil, or achiote pork shoulder braised in banana leaves). My favorite part about the dishes was the variety of flavors represented on each of the plates, though the prices were surprisingly high for the portion sizes, and the service was slow and inattentive.

I was excited to try this place and they have a cute outdoor patio for sure. We had their mango margarita which was really good, and shared a plate of their nachos. Their nachos were a bit sparse to be honest and not very loaded. My burrito was good but very expensive for what I got, I would come back during happy hour but I think their prices are too expensive for their normal lunch

We had tons of out of town guests coming for a big birthday weekend. We decided to take them all out to the Guild the night before the big bash and have a group dinner here so we could walk to the show. Monica was so kind and easy to work with. Everyone loved the food and we had the best time in the back patio.

This was one of the worst meals I've had in years. I ordered lemonade for the kids and I think it was triple sec. Margaritas were terrible without real tequila. The queso was so thick it was just like a semi-melted block of mozzarella cheese. The chile relleno was not battered or fried and had lettuce on top which was just soggy. The dessert was equally bad. The chocolate cake was so dry my children even passed. The bread pudding tasted like alcohol. Even the coffee had a weird flavor. Some positives were the decor and play area for the kids. But it stops there. Very disappointing and very expensive!!

I'd agree with other reviews that mention the low quality ingredients. Our entrees were fine but the chips, salsa and guacamole were extremely mediocre. Such a disappointment!

We sat on the back patio. It was lovely. The guacamole was nothing to write home about but the Camarones Al Chipotle were AMAZING. One of my friends had the Camerones Al Mojo de Ajo she loved the dish. Another friend had the beef Sopitos and said they were delish. I'll definitely be back for the Camerones Al Chipotle!

Really was not a fan of this place. First, they kept the door open so as a result, the interior had tons of flies and mosquitos that kept flying around our food. Second, the service was not great. It took a long time for anyone to come by to take our order or to take our bill.Third, the food was really disappointing. The guacamole tasted like it came from a grocery stores far too creamy. The bowl for the tostada ensalada was too hard and none of the shrimp were deveined. And agree with other reviews that there was way too much dressing on the salad.Sadly would not return and would not recommend.
