I have to write a positive review because the person working the counter was super friendly and even though added espresso to matcha without asking, she fixed it and gave me a different cup. Super friendly made me so welcome The matcha may not have been my taste, but it seems the stars of this shop are the coffees and the friendly service.

Looking for a new place for your reels and Tiktoks?Machu Picchu Café. I've never seen a vibe quite like this...Whimsical futuristic with an indoor cherry blossom tree, greenery, textured gold walls, and balloon dog statue tables.Very unique. But, I'm here for their Peruvian Empanadas.According to staff, they regularly sell out by 11 am so I wasn't able to try it. Hope they get a bigger supply from their sister restaurant, Bocado for the lunch crowd. Couldn't leave without buying something so I tried their Mango Limeade ($5.50) since you can adjust the sweetness. It tasted neither like mango or lime...and more like unsweetened orange juice. I hope to try their empanadas soon so I can update this review...O T H E R I N F O:* Machu Picchu Café is a modern espresso lounge (opened 11/15/24). Website says, they use coffee beans from Peru but I saw Grand Coffee bags (SF roaster). Maybe they serve both?* Menu: Drinks - coffee, espresso, teas, and juices. Food - croissants, muffins, alfajores, and empanadas. They also sell bagged chocolate bark and candies. * Indoor seating only. * Located next to YMCA Child Development Center at the new Kapuso Housing Development.* It's right across from Balboa Bart Station. Do not recommend driving here, there's no parking.

New cafe that opened 5 weeks ago. Beautiful space and ambiance. Spectacular pink tree in the middle of the cafe and plenty of comfy seating. The chicken empanadas were delicious. I look forward to going back for the coffee and non-caffeinated drinks, some of which are Peruvian inspired. Very friendly barista. Great to have such a sweet spot in the neighborhood!

What a little gem of a café is this! We were very excited for a new coffee shop in our hood. My son and I walked over and enjoyed a coffee bom bom iced and a regular black hot coffee. Because it was our first time, I wanted to taste their pure coffee. It was delicious. Not bitter. . Didn't have too many acidic tannins either. Overall, 10 out of 10! The inside of the café is super cute too. Fantastic spot to do homework, work from home, or just chill with a friend.

Super cute new cafe near Balboa Park BART station! They are serving some cafe usuals with some Peruvian inspired items. I only needed a matcha latte this time but the Peruvian coffee seems to be a must try for next time. I also got their Peruvian empanada (which comes in chicken or beef) and although a bit on the smaller side, it had a nice savory filling and came with a nice creamy/spicy sauce to dip. If anything, the interior is definitely a highlight with the beautiful blossom tree, cozy seats, and fun animal side tables. Service was very friendly and my order came out fairly quick!

We were so happy to see that a coffee shop opened by the Balboa Park BART Station and finally got a chance to stop by for a cup of coffee. The interior is beautiful and inviting! My husband got a mocha which he thought was okay. I asked if they had any special drinks and the barista suggested their orange coffee (orange juice with a shot of espresso). I'm always game to try new things, so I went for it. It was tangy and bitter and not a combo I've ever tasted before. I added some simple syrup and half and half. The more I drank it, the more I enjoyed it. I'm not sure I'd get it again but I was glad to try it!

Went during their soft opening and was greeted warmly by all the staff. The place looks so cozy yet modern. They were offering free snacks which was very kind of them to do. I got myself a hot chocolate and it was so good I was just hoping it would be sweeter but I will definitely be back.

This place is where I love to get hot chocolate from after work. It's a small coffee shop, but really gives a vibe and the service is great.

A beautiful cafe, hiding in plain sight right across from Balboa Park station and the bus stop. The vibe inside is tranquil and serene, a great place to work from. I liked the art on the walls, scenes from Peru. The veggie empanada was absolutely delicious and the coffees (latte and flat white) were good too. The Peruvian owner was very friendly, gave me a complementary vanilla shot in my latte.
