[Cash only, so bring some cash before you order and tip.]I peeked into Hong Kong Bakery and Café on my way to Maison Alyzée next door and made a note to go back here and get something for lunch. The bakery is definitely a hole-in-the-wall establishment, but when their sign up front proclaims their cha siu bao and homemade mango mochi as some of their most sought-after items, I thought, why not take a look. The lady greeted me as I walked in, and she went to the back to tend to the kitchen when I told her I needed more time to think about what I wanted to eat. The bakery is cozy, and there's a variety of things on the menu from bao to little cakes to egg tarts. After a bit, the lady came back to the register when I indicated that I was ready.I got a cha siu bao and three mango mochi. As the lady rang me up on the register, we made small talk. "I like to get to know my customers," she told me. Very endearing, very homelike. I felt like I was at my grandma's house again as I watched the lady heat the bao in the toaster oven. She bagged the warmed bao, boxed the mochi, and handed everything to me. "Enjoy!"The cha siu bao had been steamed with care. It was fluffy and the cha siu was tender but on the sweeter side. The mango mochi was fresh, chewy, and fascinating. Instead of sweet, ripe mango like the kind you might find at Hui Lau Shan, this mochi had tart green mango to contrast with the sweet rice mochi and coconut flakes. Not too sweet! From the aesthetic to the food to the service, everything about the bakery said family-run business. If you're looking for a slice of home in Chinese baked goods and desserts, you're sure to find it at Hong Kong Bakery and Café.

Small, family-owned bakery in downtown Mountain View! The egg tarts are delicious, but a bit on the oily side. The red bean moon cakes were rich and dense, but they were not as sweet as I expected. A bit on the expensive side. The owner is welcoming! She even packed my baked goods in a cute white box. Service was quick and everyone was friendly! It's a small bakery and they take cash only. I'd definitely come back to get more egg tarts!

This is a cute small shop. They have an array of freshly baked goods. I got a bit of a sticker shock for the prices ($6 for a baked pork bun and $4 for an egg tart). I got both items and while they were very tasty, it's still a bit pricey for what you get. The bun is big. The pork is sweet and tasty inside.

Such a cute little spot in Mountain View! My friends and I were just strolling along and decided we really wanted an egg tart. We were greeted by such a sweet elder gentleman, who I assume is the owner. We picked up an egg tart, a pineapple bun, and a taro bun. All three were excellent! You could tell they were freshly made with lots of love. - Just as a side note this place only takes cash.

A small bakery that had the sweetest lady taking orders and baking the goods. It's cash only and I ended up getting few pastries to share with my coworkers. She ended up giving me a free sweet roll. The egg tarts and sweet rolls were good and still warm.

CASH ONLY! I've been here twice now, and the standout is definitely the mango mochi. Because they use fresh mango, the inside can vary in sweetness and tartness. I got the steamed pork bun later in the day, and it was dry with little filling to bao ratio. I also got the coconut cream bun, it was lacking cream filling, and it was not coconut flavored filling, but rather vanilla in a coconut bun. The staff is nice and friendly, it deff gives off mom & pop shop vibes which I love. There are plenty of options to choose from. There's no seating inside or outside. It's nice to support small business, but I've deff tried better. Perhaps it's a good option for the MV area, not aware of other HK bakeries nearby.

Absolutely wonderful spot with delicious cocktail buns. Like, what a piece of delicious nostalgia! They haven't changed in 40+ years! Pork buns are amazing too. As mentioned by others, it's cash only, but well worth an ATM visit. The owners are lovely and love to have a little chat with customers. I truly hope the family carries on the tradition!

Cash only. No preservertive! So fresh. Whenever we visit Mountain View, we would stop in Hong Kong Chinese Bakery. They have the banana mochi that reminds me of my childhood delight. We buy at least half a dozen or a dozen to go.Our favorites: banana flavored mochi, baked or steamed BBQ pork bun, paper wrapped sponge cake! The lady behind the counter was very nice.

This place is an absolute hole in the wall. When you see a place like this is cash only be prepared to have some of the best tasting food of your life. I've been coming here as a kid and I hope to continue coming here for more years to come. The shop is run but a grandma/grandpa duo and they are the sweetest people you will ever meet. Treat them with kindness and respect and they will treat you the same way. Highly recommend they baked pork buns. You'll have one and wanna go right back in for another
