Hawi Hawaiian BBQ

Called in for pick up and they answered their phone a little before opening so my coworkers a I appreciate that a lot. I ordered a mini curry chicken katsu plate and it was perfect. I liked that there was some steamed veggies underneath and that the curry was on the side. The katsu was nice and crispy. My only complaint is the amount of curry they give you. You get less than 2oz of curry and I love my curry so if they had filled the little 4oz cup it would've been nice.

We used to stop by quite a bit, but a few times during the years, they would be closed for unknown reasons. Recently, we thought to try them again because their food was pretty good. And after a few years, it's still the same!BBQ & KATSU MIX ~ BBQ beef, BBQ chicken and chicken katsu. Tender and tasty meat piled high and crispy, crunchy katsu. They also give you steamed or boiled cabbage, macaroni salad and short grain rice. I like their macaroni salad, but the rice was a bit drier than I would have liked. Otherwise, I enjoyed my meal. 5/5HAWAIIAN BBQ MIX ~ BBQ beef, BBQ chicken, kalbi short ribs. The meat was flavorful and tender. You get your money's worth here, for sure! 5/5We also got a canned boba drink. It was ok but probably better off going up the block for boba instead. There isn't a way to get the boba out since their straws were for soda. Eh, will skip that next time. Tasty meal that will fill you up and possibly have leftovers for home too. And their prices are very reasonable.

We got the family deal tonight , Fish, BBQ beef chicken, rice and Mac salad. Everything was so good ! Found our favorite Hawaiian BBQ restaurant! The BBQ Beef was made perfect , just how we like it ! Highly recommend this restaurant!

The mixed meat plate was huge (beef rib, 2-3 juicy chicken thighs and tasty sliced beef) served over steamed veggies accompanied by a scoop of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad... ask for packets of Sriracha sauce to spice things up. It's not only super affordable, the food is delicious. Whether you're dining in or ordering to-go, the rice entree is served in a large styrofoam box.I would say that it's not the cleanest spot. The chefs were electrocuting flying bugs with wand as we were walking in... There are Lysol wipes available to give the table a quick wipe down. The bathroom is a bit dodgy as well and def check for toilet paper as its stored by the kitchen (bring some wipes with you). If I lived in south San Fran, I would totally order Hawi to-go frequently.

If you work around grand ave, this spot is a must try. The chicken katsu was crunchy, the bbq beef was tender, and the mac salad was amazing. Food came out quick and it felt like the perfect to go food. Overall, great lunch/dinner spot that wont affect the bank!

I usually order the Teriyaki chicken mini meal with steamed white rice, macaroni salad, and steamed veggies. The chicken is flavorful, and the service is fantastic. I usually place my order by phone, which is always ready promptly. The restaurant has a nice and quiet ambiance in its superb location; notably, it's safe. Street parking can be challenging for pick-up, but there is a nearby parking lot a few blocks away if you don't mind walking.

Love rice? Meat? Fried food? Then what are you waiting for?! Good Hawaiian food; the humble frontage belies the culinary adventure you're about to embark on!

The food was great. The best spam musubi I've ever had, fried shrimp, was great. The teriyaki chicken was excellent. The chicken katsu, the best service, was amazing I will be back.
