Hawaiian Drive Inn has been my go-to local spot for a few years now, and it never disappoints. The portions and prices are simply unbeatable.During my most recent visit, I ordered the Two-Item Combo with chicken katsu and loco moco. Phenomenal. The box was packed full, the katsu was crispy and flavorful, and the hamburger steak in the loco moco was perfectly-seasoned. The rich gravy complemented the whole plate beautifully. If you're craving Hawaiian barbecue or just want a hearty meal under $15, this is the spot for you.

Let me start off by saying that this place is decent and not the highest quality hawaiian bbq in the area. I've been going here for the past 2 decades and still can remember a time when the regular plates were $5.50. Still the same ladies cooking in the kitchen. I normally get the regular katsu plate and there is more than enough food for 2 meals. I usually add a ton of black pepper on the mac salad since it's super plain.Sometimes the katsu isn't super crisp and I end up throwing the chicken in the air fryer and it crisps up to perfection! All in all I think they still offer hefty portions for a decent price. But remember that they are cash only!

They are not open and won't be back until March. I wish the dates were uploaded somewhere so I didn't waste my time making a special trip out here during my lunch break...

First time at HDI and surprised I haven't tried sooner. This is a no frills/thrills mom and pop hole in the wall. They only have a few tables for dine in and the interior is very dated. The mixed bbq plate comes with 1 short rib, few huge slabs of chicken and thinly sliced beef, 2 scoops of rice and mac salad. All of the meats were tender and flavored. The spam musubi isn't overly filled with rice.Service at the counter was nice. Prices are very fair for the amount of food you get compared to other Hawaiian restaurants.Cash onlyStreet Parking

Been coming here for years and this place is still the best Hawaiian food in the area. You get the best bang for your buck here. Prices have gone up which is to be expected but the portions have never changed. You still get a whole lotta food that can feed you for more than one meal. Recently, I ordered the chicken Katsu regular plate with all mac salad, we had rice at home. This plate fed myself, my 3 daughters n there was still some left to pack for the hubby's lunch for work the next day. I love that the chicken isn't too beaten, it's still very meaty and not flat at all. Fam favorite for sure. Party trays are amazing and a good deal as well. Definitely coming back. I hope this place never leaves. It is a mom & pop shop and they do only take cash so be prepared. If you're ordering for party trays, be ready to pay in full prior to pick up. But it's definitely worth it.

Classic affordable hawaiian food out here. Crazy that it is still CASH ONLY, but you can't complain much since it's so cheap. The service is good, I saw them give some juice to a little kid for free. I don't recommend eating there, theres only two tables and people just sit on there to wait for their foods. My Order: Musubi - Classic and you truly can't go wrong.Teriyaki Chicken/Beef Sandwich and fries- Is so good, you might have to order two because it's THAT good. Curry anything - Was not my favorite, definitely was missing some flavor. (Surprisingly have not had their loco moco though)

It's a super small spot. Maybe 5 tables if that. It's also along a strip of other restaurants and parking is kind of tight. We stopped in around 4PM as we were on our way to a graduation in SF, at the Opera House. Found this place on here. We love a good hawaiian spot. We walk in and are greeted by 2 little older ladies cleaning the large stove. The place is not fine dining. It's almost very reminiscent of a hole in the wall in Hawaii and you'd expect to see the cook in slippers and an apron with chickens walking about out front. Now onto the real reason you are reading this. It was just my husband, my son and I. My husband ordered their BBQ shortribs. The full meal. Which means it came with 2 scoops of rice and 2 scoops of mac salad. There was also like 4 pieces of meat. He didn't complain. My son had a full order of chicken katsu which also came with 2 scoops of sides and what seemed like 2 whole breaded chickens there were so many pieces. I ordered their mini chicken katsu which I feel came with the same amount of chicken as my son with only 1 scoop of each side..thank gawd! They sell Hawaiian Sun canned drinks and my son got punch and I got their Lilikoi Lychee my fave! Our chicken katsu was crispy and meat was juicy. Rice hot and mac salad cold and creamy. What a hidden gem!

The restaurant has been there for years and food is always good. My wish is that they would flourish the menu.
