We have came here several times and we used to love this Taiwanese restaurant. However, today when we came here for lunch, when we got to check out. I went to the counter, ordered a drink to go and I selected a custom tip for our whole meal, the waiter asked me cancel the tip and to give at least 15% tip. I was forced to give 15% and the whole experience was awkwardly bad. The whole tip culture becomes so bad now, you should not ask customers to give how much tip, they will tip you if they feel it's worth it.We felt so bad about this experience and will not come back again.

First time popcorn chicken was great, crispy flavorful chicken with fried basil.Second time came with raw garlic and no basil. Third time came with both raw garlic and basil.Last time we requested no raw garlic and chicken was extremely overcooked (very dark and dry!)Will be going elsewhere for popcorn chicken.

Hanlin is one of the few Taiwanese restaurants remaining in Cupertino. When I have a taste for sesame oil chicken soup, this is where I go. I wish the chicken comes with bones like how my mom makes it, but theirs is chicken breast. Still offers some home cook feel though.

Cute low-key casual eatery, very much feels like the equivalent of a Taiwanese diner. Food closer to a 4.5 (not perfect but quite solid for the price), but it's a lovely homey feel to the place. Will definitely keep this place in the books when I'm in the mood for some quick eats or takeout. Plenty of parking space behind the building helps too. From the moment you enter it feels very homey, despite being a chain from abroad. Workers were kind and polite throughout, checking in with us regularly and helping out with requests. Doesn't seem like they get *too* many folks doing sitdown, but we were welcomed nonetheless. Their kitchen does close at 7pm though, so bit earlier than the place itself. Popcorn Chicken - 4.5/5 Solid iteration I'd be happy to munch on and share again. Hits the right notes on texture and flavor without falling too much in the extremes. Plenty juicy, light and crispy batter, plenty of fried basil (a plus I see few places opting for, so my inner aromatic is pleased). It was a hint on the salty side for seasoning, but still pretty good. The spicy powder is on the milder side in terms of spiciness, but did help make it more accessible to the less spicy inclined in the group. The rice sets seem to include a good variety of stuff to make it a balanced meal, essentially like a bento. Differing sets, but side dishes like kimchi, soup, etc. 3 Flavor Chicken - 4.5/5Folks that know the chinese recognize this as the classic 3-cup chicken dish, but it was done pretty well at the price. Came with some veggie side dishes that paired very nicely with the dish (kimchi and a pork cabbage salad). It's not stone bowl fancy stuff and could use more oomph, so it's not top of the line in that sense, but you get great value out of the combination of stuff and the garlic is still caramelized goodness.Spring Tea Boba - 4/5 Boba tea is solid as well, so I'd believe it if they were the originater in Taiwan. Boba itself was pretty good on chewiness. Tea is the legit stuff as the flavor was good, though it could use a smidge more milk for creaminess...the sweetness was on the lower side (for the better) so hanlin is a good spot to avoid the overly sweet tendencies of a lot of shops. I'd get mine with minimal ice as it did taste a bit watery when the ice melted.

Very kind workers and excellent service. The noodles in the ground pork dish were a little soggy, and the ratio of meat to noodles left me with a bunch of noodles left over (could have used about double the ground pork). However, the meat is tasty, and the egg on top was also good.I also had the orange green tea. They recommended 50% sweet, and I'm glad I took their advice! It was just right and a very refreshing drink.Bonus - walking distance from the Cupertino Library.

Very close to work and usually get their fried rice as they have huge portions Price range sort of mid, but for a boba place I'm just glad they have decent food.Drinks are ... not as great if competing in Cupertino. Price has gone up for tea $7-8. Don't think it's worth but I believe they offer discounts if ordered with lunch on weekdays.

I always say that if you want to run a successful store, open a milk tea shop next to middle and high schools for students to visit after class!Conveniently located next to the Cupertino library, the decor is undisputedly reminiscent of Taiwan. I ordered a Tie Guanyin milk tea with pearls and Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and my friend ordered one of their specialty dishes- a type of fried pork with rice. The Tie Guanyin taste in the milk tea was strong, which was great and spoke to the authenticity of the place! The beef noodle soup was yummy and had a good flavor profile, but I wouldn't recommend drinking the broth since it was a tad salty. It wasn't too spicy either! The fried pork was delicious and had a good texture to it. Overall, I'd come here again after visiting the library. There's a lot of good Chinese restaurants in the Cupertino area, but the selling point for this is likely the convenience of its location.

I ordered a salted cream oolong tea with spicy beef hotspot. The tea is decent. The hotspot have a clean taste but the ingredient does taste a like funky. It's not as spicy as I expect it to be. Flavor is just right, nothing memorable though. If you enjoyTasty pot then you won't like this. BUT It's a decent place for lunch.
