Came to Santo after hearing tons of amazing reviews about their poke and daifuku mochi-I've now been here in several occasions but never get there early enough to try the mochi...But the poke is AMAZING!!! We usually get half shoyu and half spicy. It's so, so good! So fresh and the flavor is always perfect. Finally tried the garlic shrimp plate & ask I can say is WOW!!! Parking can be tough during lunch time- they have a lot but there are always so many people that spaces fill up quickly but be patient- it's worth it!!!"

Sanober H. "Been coming here for 2 years now and I have to say once of the hidden halal markets gems in the Bay Area. Its small and not so well organized but their organic chicken is amazing. I have tried chicken from many places (taj mahal, tayyibaat, medina in fremont) but this chicken always cooks so juicy and delicious! Their goat meat prices are so much better than Taj Mahal which is just down the road. I paid $65 for a whole goat leg at Taj and here I only paid $40 for a whole goat leg. And I have to say it was much much better then the Taj one. They even have fresh turkey slices which is great for my lunches :)"

I didn't know where anything was other than your basic produce and meat but I was new to their dried peppers. They have so many different kinds. What was nice is that I asked a few customers if they can help me search for some things and they pointed me to the right section. They do have personnel in front to ensure all customers have their mask on and keep a line outside if the store reach its capacity. Though we all hate this but no way around it unless we do this together."

The prices are a bit more than the other Korean markets, but everything is top notch quality. Typical Indian groceries, produce, didn't see/wasn't looking for meats. Single cashier in front. What a hidden treasure. In the hot selection, we got paneer samosa and chili paneer spring roll. Both were SO delicious! Crispy and so flavorful. The owners were so enthusiastic about recommending their favorite desserts and even gave us some samples of each one! Tony J. "A pretty standard Lion Supermarket. Perhaps a slightly more Vietnamese balance of items (especially in the produce section) compared to the West San Jose location, given the demographics of the area. A bit cheaper on average than 99 Ranch, but with fewer weekly sales (i.e. this is more of an "everyday low prices" place).Conveniently located in a plaza full of delicious Vietnamese restaurants. However, this also means that parking can get a bit congested, but you almost always can still find a spot towards the back."

Alice G. "This is not a restaurant! There is no ambiance! Don't expect service! OTOH, this is quality food prepared well but a bit overcooked. We ordered the ground lamb and beef kabobs that were juicy and well seasoned. The ground chicken was well seasoned but dry as was the chicken thigh pieces skewer. The lavash that was soaked in meaty juices was delicious but because the meat was dry, not so many juices soaked into the bread. So, what would make this better? Lemon slices, a yogurt sauce, crispy fresh cucumbers and cherry tomatoes and green onions. I asked, but no sauces and no greens. I'm sure this is because you order plates to go and accessorize in your home. I placed the order over the phone and found that the person who answered was clear but not helpful. After all, it's a bodega, so why couldn't they slip a lemon into the bag? Whatever!!! Still, a nice experience!"

Funny enough, two cop cars were near, reporting a broken in car. I walked in and the place seemed neat and clean. It's a simple space, a openshelf refrigerator with sushi, a closed fridge with drink and a few shelves with Japanese snacks. There were about two other people purchasing food while I was there. The selection of sushi was limited and had mostly basics, tuna and salmon, one of them had a variety but was a bit more pricier. I grabbed:[Salmon avocado roll $8.50]3/5 The sushi roll was quite bland. Most of the time, you can taste the rice vinegar, this one tasted very plain. [Spicy salmon roll $8.95 I think]4/5This was a bit more flavorful since it was spicy salmonOverall, the price is great for sushi, but I found the rolls lacking in flavor. Which a simple roll should have some distinct flavors. After a dunk in soy sauce and Wasabi it was better. In addition, the cashier seemed displeased that I didn't tip more than 15%, when it's mostly self service. I grab my own food, put my own food in my own bag, and grab my own utensils and soy sauce. Not sure what I'm tipping for when it's a grab and go shop. Probably wouldn't come again, the parking was just too difficult. The sushi was sub par. Cute shop though!"

No problem, as this is much more convenient for me.This is a fine store carrying a variety of products from many, but not all, countries in the Middle East. Unlike a lot of similar stores which are cramped and difficult to navigate, this is pretty airy and spacious. There's a great selection of spices and other necessary ingredients to put together a good Mediterranean meal. We haven't purchased anything from the meat counter, which is small by comparison to other similar stores. There is a small counter of baked items, such as pita and lavash and this really large bread the name of which I don't know.Prices are about the same as other places, but sometimes not well marked on the products so it's a bit of a lottery when you're at the checkout stand. Ahmad J. "Kamal Spice House has been my go-to Indian grocery store in San Jose for the past couple of years. It is in a large mall shared by many other businesses so even though there is a large parking lot finding a spot close to the shop is always a challenge but manageable as there are a couple of reserved spots in the front. This is your typical Indian grocery store that carries a lot of Indian spices and ready to eat packaged goods. It also has a decent amount of fresh produce and a hot food station with Indian snacks like samosas, pakoda, wada etc. On the weekends it has a chaat corner where you can get freshly prepared chaat's.Their Indian snacks and chaat are great, they are priced also very reasonably so absolutely no complaints (the samosas tend to become a bit stale late in the evening sitting under the lamp but that is understandable). The grocery section is not on the same level as the chaat section. Lately I've observed that they are not as well stocked as before and that their prices have inched up. Recently I found India Mart another Indian store closer to where I live which is much better stocked so I've started shopping there for my Indian groceries and limit my shopping at Kamal to the chaat section. The chaat section is good but when combined with the average grocery store you end up with an overall above average grade for this place."

My Filipino Peeps- you must check out Apni Mandi and their rice aisle. The store is big, very well lighted, the workers were friendly and greeted the customers with smiles. Very cleaned aisles. Very well stocked, well maintained; my OCD brain was aesthetically in happy mode. I am not 100% familiar with Indian products, but I made do with the little knowledge that I have. I had to try the pickled garlic and mango I am thinking of pairing that with fried fish. I got a bottle of rose water, bottle of their mango lassi drink. FYI- the frozen puri- so delish. Must try and the instant stuffing for the pani puri over the top of the fried -omg delish. It is also great pairing with white rice. Next time I am getting the street style pani puri balls and the stuffing that goes with it. We will be back for sure. This time will try their fresh food at the deli. For sure I will be getting more Indian delicatessens and snacks.NOTE: They have a pani puri stand outside but it would 30 more minutes before they were to open. I've been to several Indian markets around Sunnyvale not by choice but because my mom drags me around to buy vegetables. When we first entered into this one, I was already bored. UNTIL I saw this magic sign. I hesitated walking into through the door but glad I did. It's a tiny room with a waiting couch, desk, and a chair. The girl was super friendly and when I went in there were was already someone in the chair and people waiting! I felt like I stumbled into Narnia tbh. I didn't have to wait too long until she threaded my eyebrow and upper lip into perfection. She takes cash and card and it wasn't outrageously priced! She also did a great job with threading. Didn't take too long and didn't hurt too much! Would recommend if you need to knock out a few errands - groceries and threading!"
