Britannia Arms Downtown - The Brit

I was downtown in San Jose and needed a quick lunch before jumping on a call. I saw "The Britt" open and hopping, so I decided it would be a good option to try out. So, they're set up to deal with seated folks (unique menu QR codes at each table) abc no place marked for takeaway, after getting a fellow's attention, he quickly got me a menu and took my order fir Fish and Chips. He did give me an accurate tune, but no waiting place to sit besides taking over one of the tables.For ToGo, I was a bit taken aback by the total, but n outrageous. I was able to pay touch less and this was good since the next time I saw him, he had my food ready in a box. He then got me a bag and I was on my way. I was sad to arrive at my desk finding no napkins, tartar sauce, vinegar packets, etc. for what I just paid. The Fish and Chips were very tasty, but the Take Out process is lacking the quality that should be second nature given how recently we left COVID-19 lockdown. I would hope their delivery does a better job of the side pieces which are part of the overall product.Looks like they're shifted into caring only about sit down guests at the moment, at least fir lunch.

Came here for a post dinner dessert and drink evening. We ended up getting a small bottle of wine. the wine was not really that greats. The ambience was lovely with music. There was less people but I can imagine the crowd growing as the evening progresses. We also got a sticky toffee pudding which too was very average. To me it didn't taste very fresh and parts of it was very doughy. I have tried the other Britannia arms and it was great. Overall the service was good. The staff was very cordial and attended to our questions and got our order out as quickly as possible

Yummy pub food, convenient location. I have no pic, but I had the between the sheets cocktail and it was yummy! My group had a pretzel, fish and chips and sliders. They were all very good. The pretzel had a nice crunchy exterior and a chewy middle the dips were very good too. Fish and chips was seasoned well, the batter was nice and crisp and not thick and greasy. The sliders were my favorite. The sweet onions and pickle relish was so tasty and yet they didn't overpower the angus beef. I prefer the shoe string over the steak fries.

Decent atmosphere, fun vibe. I like the beer but the food is average - I usually have the artichoke hearts, mozarella sticks, and piece cod and chips. The california burger is ok too. Service is great but can be slow at times. Britannia I will be back!

It's still COVID, but they opened up the back to have decent patio seating with umbrellas. I got there a little after 6pm. The 91 degree heat pressed upon me, and there wasn't much one could do to hide the beads of sweat that popped up along the forehead line, the upper lip, and the temples. While it would have been nice to have had a water mister, I do not hold the establishment responsible for providing this (and, it is not in my scoring).There were, however, umbrellas which could shade you from direct sunlight and music played in the background from a couple of speakers. I do have to say that maybe they should review song choices because one song came on and you heard the word pus*y quite a few times and that, to me, is not appropriate for an outdoor dining type of thing, especially when out on a date--which I was.We ordered a few rounds of drinks and an appetizer--chicken tenders. It came with four chicken tenders and a heaping serving of steak fries--I took the pic of the tenders midway through so it is t an accurate portrayal. There were originally four tenders.in regards to service, I would score iit as average as well as the food and drinks. The music, minus "obscene" words/lyrics was nice as it added to the atmosphere and made the heat more tolerable

Giving 2 stars because they are not taking COVID seriously (I know you can go ahead and tell me if I don't feel safe to not go out BUT...) me and my friend arrived a bit late and our other friends already got us a table. The bouncer at the front said he remembered my asian friend (low key racist because he was not there we arrived at the same time). The bouncer did not even ID him, did not take his temperature, like what if he had a high temp? They IDed me and took my temp. But, this was not the only issue. When we were inside they were not regulating the 6 feet rule. We had other people coming to our table from other tables. I just think if COVID is going to spread somewhere its going to be this place.

Rude customer service, Julia was extremely unprofessional would not recommend. Please try other locations around the area

Bartender dressed as Buzz Lightyear was trash, was drunk by 11p and kept taking shots/talking to a girl instead of taking our order. I had to intervene to start ordering, he proceeded to drop a full drink on the bar and all over us passing over the drinks. He didn't put ice in our drinks and caught an attitude when I asked him to. Didn't TIP because it is earned not guaranteed and he made sure to let me know I would have to wait next time for not tipping. Ambiance was as bad as the bartender, skip this place if you are trying to have a good time in Downtown San Jose!

Food is okay place is pretty cool except waitress was to worried about getting drunk and paying attention to dick that she gave my card to someone else and they charged me for both tables. Top it off when the couple left with my card they went and payed for another meal on me. Be careful leaving your tab open cause they are not paying attention

This is the first review for this revived and remodeled restaurant! This is not your normal Britannia Arms. First of all, the interior is beautiful. The booths are my favorite part. Each one has a tv and the decor is very classy. They have made the place very open and contemporary. There is also an open patio area with a big screen tv. The food: we ordered apps or " shareable". Street corn, brussel sprouts and the crab cakes were a treat. The crab cakes were not heavy and greasy- very light with some veggies. I couldn't get enough of those! I am looking forward to returning and trying their cocktails and entrees. Very excited for concerts and games to return. This venue is walking distance to SAP.
