I used to frequent here ALL THE TIME (as in weekly) with my coworkers during our work lunches. It was a gem then and it still is now. I really wanted to gatekeep this place but since I'm feeling generous, I will let everyone know about it because it's so underrated. Bistro Tupaz is kind of tucked away in a plaza but it's literally across the street from Santa Teresa High School in South San Jose. My go-to was formerly known as the "Chicken Formaggio Burger" which has since been renamed to the "Chicken Parmesan Burger". It has all the right ingredients (crispy breast strips, homemade tomato sauce, parmigianno reggiano all on a house made bun), and the perfect side (of regular or sweet potato fries) with aioli and ketchup to complement the meal. The food came out piping hot and our host/server, Rabih, was just wonderful. He was so inviting and kind, something I really don't encounter very often in the food service industry. The meal also comes with complimentary house made focaccia and a preserve. This is honestly one of the best places I've gone to with great pricing and portions (pre-and-post pandemic inflation). As far as ambiance goes, there is still very much the same (rustic and European-ish) decor from 8 or so years ago and there is both indoor and outdoor patio seating. I look forward to putting Bistro Tupaz back in my restaurant rotation. Don't sleep on this one!

Dinner service review: Service was good. They were busy with good hustle. They had a special menu out for Valentine's. I indulged in that while my husband stuck with the regular menu. The quality of food was excellent - no complaints. The plates were pretty and well crafted. What I'm writing the review for is the Valentine's chocolate mousse dessert. It was exceptional. Definitely a rich dark chocolate. If you don't like dark chocolate this will be a bit on the edge for you. This tasted like a dark chocolate truffle. @BistroTupaz: please have that mousse on the regular menu! I'd buy it every time we come for dinner.

Food: quality Service: excellent Ambiance: layback family restaurant What a gem! Almost didn't want to share. Everything from food quality, service is spectacular! The price can't be beat for its food quality. Don't let the bistro vintage decor fool you. Order anything on the menu, you can't go wrong.Start off with the delicious light crispy fried calamari to pair with a bottle of beer for my partner and a glass of wine for me.Grilled Ribeye was perfectly seasoned and my rare is still moo-ing, just how I like it. Came with the perfectly grilled duck confit green beans and I ordered a side of freshly grilled mix vegetables. Love love. The side vegetables are perfectly grilled and freshly selected, not the typical boil veggies you get out there. The homemade fries are perfectly light and crispy, I don't eat fries usually and I finished all sweet potato fries here. Ohh the dessert! It's so fresh and one of the best bread pudding I've had in town or ever. I had to pair it with the ice cream. It was the best combo. I must try!

Bistro Tupaz is a great local spot! Their European dishes are always delicious. My favorite is the Alfredo pasta, made fresh, and I love adding veggies and chicken. My friend's go-to is the beef stroganoff, and it's always a hit. The service is friendly and efficient, making every visit a pleasure. Highly recommend!

I haven't been back to Bistro Tupaz for a while. My daughter suggested we go- so glad we did! Wow- the food was so delicious- started with the complimentary bread and preserve. The baked cod with dill was cooked very well, moussaka very flavorful. The soup tasted very fresh with big chunks of vegetables. Our server was so friendly, also offered extra bread which my daughter really enjoyed. Felt like a very warm neighborhood restaurant. Love the ambiance.

I met a friend here for dinner. I had high hopes for this place based on their menus and reviews I've seen. It ended up being a mixed experience. First and foremost, our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The pasta dishes we tried were also on point. Cook on the pasta was perfect; sauce level was balanced, and shrimps were also cooked perfectly. Brussel sprouts nice and crisp without being burnt. The batter on the calamari was nice and crunchy but a little on the salty side. The dipping sauce was delicious. The actually calamari pieces themselves were sadly a little undercooked and still translucent and soggy. The main reason the food scored lower for me was the ribeye. The menu clearly said that the steaks were grilled. The ribeye I received, while seasoned well, was not what I expected for a grilled steak. The temp was correct but it was very tender with no external sear.It was closer to a prime rib than a seared steak. Some of the delicious delicious ribeye fat did not render and was tough and rubbery still.I will definitely be back again to try other dishes on their menu as they sounded interesting.

The service was wonderful! I think we got the owner as our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. Such a kind kind soul. I appreciated the lighting and decor inside the restaurant and I love that they have an outdoor patio seating option as well. However, the food is very variable depending on what entrée appetizer or drink you get. Our bread was cold and had jam as opposed to pesto like everyone else had, which I'm going to chalk it up to the fact that maybe they ran out of pesto? Anyway, I think I will order something different on the menu because though the entrée I ordered was good, it was a little unevenly cooked. Overall, very very good for a small business in South San Jose. Would go again.Get the italian soda and steak if you come here. You won't regret it!!

I think we are adding this place to our regular rotation. Amazing food, reasonable prices, snappy service, and quiet inside. Great for those who want to have a conversation over a meal, or anyone whose hearing isn't what it used to be.
