Honest Review: 5 starsI was around the area for lunch and was just searching on my phone the closest one nearby and saw Aoi Teriyaki & Ramen with very high ratings so I decided to give it a try as a 1st timer and now I will need to come back and try the ramen! The owner/chef was super busy considering he ran the show all by himself with tons of take out orders before I had arrived around 12pm. I was prompted to order at the Kiosk and got the Teriyaki Chicken Box (you can sub out the veggies for more rice using the special instructions) plus Red Bean Pancakes for dessert. The place was rather small and cozy for a maximum seating of 20 since there's tables mostly for 2s/3s that can be combined as needed in the middle and then the barstool glass window seating areas. There is a nice UHD flatscreen TV with popping dance MVs to watch/listen to as you wait for your order or whilst eating for here.I didn't mind the wait about 15mins tops since i knew how busy the owner/chef was and my goodness he absolutely delivered literally to where I sat by the front barstool area with a BIG portion of chicken teriyaki with rice/gyozas (teriyaki sauce in a container on the side) and even treated me on the house some crispy shrimp egg rolls and a mini, red bean sesame ball.I rarely order teriyaki chicken since preferring chicken katsu and/or tonkatsu for the crispy crunchy texture. However, I am very glad I did since it is their signature dish and everything was perfect where the chicken was nicely grilled and tender with seasoning that was just right not over the top (it was not salty and there were no MSG). Every bite was delicious like the 1st bite; the gyozas came with a soy sauce packet as needed which tasted great as well (don't put too much soy sauce though or it will overpower everything you eat lol). What I did was instead of pouring the teriyaki sauce all over my chicken and rice, I went ahead with every piece of chicken just dip it into the sauce and had that first before the rice so that my rice is not soggy lol. Although, I did noticed that the longer it took to finish the meal, the less tender and a bit of dryness started to trickle in from the chicken being aired out so towards the end I did lather it up with all the sauce I had left to make sure nothing went to waste.I will definitely be back to try the chicken katsu and sesame chicken boxes PLUS their ramen next time; there was a couple who had ordered ramen and it made my mouth watered while I was getting ready to go (the aromas and flavor were lingering in the air lol). And oh yeah, the red bean pancakes for dessert were pretty good too but I would highly recommend ordering them AFTER your meal so that it's piping hot and not lukewarm, will taste even better!

Best ramen in the east bay! After moving from the Peninsula with several great local ramen spots to choose from, I've struggled to find anything equivalent in the east bay. I have to say, Aoi Ramen is the hidden gem that I've been looking for! I had the tonkotsu black ramen, which has black garlic oil. The broth was rich and flavorful. The noodles had the right amount of chew. The flavored egg was delicious, and the chashu was tender and perfectly seasoned. I always order an extra egg and extra chashu and make 2 meals out of my ramen (as I can't eat that many noodles at once and hate to waste it), but I likely don't need to do that here! They give you a whole egg and a ton of chashu - I probably could have made 2 meals out of it without adding all the extras. It is a tiny little spot in a strip mall. Just note that there aren't a ton of tables. We ordered at the kiosk and waited maybe 15 mins or so for our food. It is one guy handling everything though and he had a bunch of takeout orders at the time as well. We loved our ramen and will definitely be back. This is my new favorite ramen spot.

The amount of food you get is phenomenal. I took half of it home and it was almost like I didn't touch it.Its a small shop and I believe there's only 1 chef.My favorite part of the ramen was the shiitake mushrooms. It was so juicy and flavorful. All the vegetables had a nice char flavor. The egg noodles were so eggy. Solid ramen shop.

Came to Aoi for ramen and was not disappointed. The shop is a little small, with only four or five tables. You can move chairs and tables around for a bigger group. There was a TV with K-pop music videos playing (funnily enough, only girl groups) the whole time.We ordered at the kiosk and our food came out within 10-15 minutes. I got the Tonkotsu Black Ramen, which was fine. The broth was not as flavorful as I expected and it was a bit heavy. I also wasn't a fan of the amount of bean sprouts... but overall there was a LOT of food, with all the other sides. My favorite parts were the egg and the chashu.

Food: first timer and food was delicious. Noodles were perfectly firm, soup was tasty not salty, must try fried oysters and the desserts Service : it's ok, the chef works by himself: it's a small restaurant with about 5 tables or something . Ambiance: small, decent, looks clean, but prepare yourself since there's no restroom

The owner/chef is a very kind man. Not only does he serve quality, affordable food that keeps you returning for more, but he also gave some gyoza, egg roll and sesame ball on the house. The place is always kept tidy and we are entertained with music videos while the chef is busy cooking with soul. Thank you very much and I will return soon.

I'm so biased, but any place where the owner will throw in free mozzarella sticks is going to get five stars from me. This is a tiny spot, and there's only one person running the entire thing, so expect a bit of a wait when it's busy! Your food is guaranteed to be fresh, though. The soy garlic chicken was gooood. Better than Bonchon. It was crunchy, juicy, and so flavorful. The chicken stir fry came with SO MUCH FOOD, and it was definitely Korean influenced. I love that it comes with sides of vegetables and fried dumplings too. Everything packed the flavor, and I'd gladly order a ramen next time. Although the owner was so busy, he still was able to show appreciation to customers, and I'm so glad I found this place. I usually go up to Oakland for concerts, so this is going to become a regular stop on my way there!

This is a great spot with one chef running the show. He is not able to greet you much because he's busy cooking, and so the place is highly dependent on the kiosk. But the food is made to perfection and very delicious. We ordered the sesame chicken bento and the tonkatsu ramen - black (which has sesame oil in it). The chicken is perfect tender and moist and it's pretty impressive the balance between tender and crispy. The bento also comes with edamame, steamed broccoli, and potstickers. The ramen was also fresh, with really good noodles. Overall it was a great experience here and the place seems to have a steady stream of customers looking for some good food. Glad to have this place close by.
