Hole in the wall restaurant that is always filled with locals. It's almost winter solstice so was craving some tangyuan - Yummy Yummy has a savory Toisan tangyuan that is delicious. The glutinous rice balls come in a large bowl of savory soup with dried shrimp, Chinese sausage, cabbage, etc. Highly recommend to warm yourself up in this cold!Another menu highlight was something posted in Chinese on the walls: beef tendon rice roll clay pot. I'm a huge fan of beef tendon but never had this combo -- worked super well together.

It's a hole in a wall Chinatown restaurant. Can't expect perfect service, but food is usually decent. I'd give this place a solid 3.5 stars for food but rounded up 1/2 a star because we've had better food the other times dining here. BBQ PORK and SHRIMP RICE NOODLE ROLLS: We come here for their rice noodle rolls. They're really soft and melt in your mouth, GOOD! And they give a big portion for that dish. 5/5BEEF BRISKET WONTON NOODLE SOUP: This dish is good and pretty hearty. Decent flavor and not overly salty. The wonton meat filling was quite soft too. 5/5STEAMED EGG CUSTARD BUNS: I was disappointed with these buns. They did not taste fresh. In fact, they tasted old even though they were steamed. The bread was hard and inside did not liquify and was also hard and crumbly. I'm assuming that these were frozen or refrigerated and they did not steam them long enough. I think microwaving them would have been better. We won't order this again. 2/5Next time, we'll stick with the noodle rice rolls because that dish never disappoints!

Didn't get the dim sum so I can only speak to the mains. The food from this place is from the Toisan region so not really my palate food-wise. Tried the porridge, salted fish and pork belly, veggies with garlic and Szechuan fish. I liked the flavor of the latter.Service is a bit slow and the place is intimate.

Would I eat here again if back in the neighborhood and seeking a reliable Pho spot? Probably. Would I come all the way to the Sunset for this (from downtown)? Probably not.Stopped by here for a quick Sunday lunch. Got seated immediately without a wait, restaurant was pretty full. The waiter did stop by a little too quickly after we sat down, but otherwise was very friendly and pleasant (I'm not Vietnamese but yes Asian).Started with an order of the Banh Khot (we actually ordered Banh Cuon, but guess he might have heard us wrong), decent! It was a little bit doughier than some others I've tried, but still good.I personally got the Pho as my entree - generous portions with plenty of sliced beef and beef balls (a custom combo). Thought it was quite good, but definitely one of those meals that leave you a bit thirsty after.Would advise against getting the Viet coffee unless you love your coffee extremely sweet, but otherwise reliable neighborhood spot!

Ever since Yelp came out with a photo contest, I'm less inclined to take pictures? Not good enough? Or have people already catched that beautiful photo? Or i'm too hungry to care. Probably the latter. You got to try the fish bone claypot. Fried and stewed in clay pot with tofu. Dish for 3 people. Crunch your way to the fish bones, and the tofu will melt in your mouth. So much flavor, of course, garlic. Tiny cabbage, but not enough. Tiny gravy. Also, I had bittermelon wrapped in rice noodle. It's an acquired taste with bittermelon. Stick to getting a whole plate of bittermelon. the fried dim sum (ham siu gok) that is light beige color really hit the hungry spot. So fresh. Cash only. Be brave , try the fish bone with tofu. There is lots of fish meat. I just emphasize tasting the crunchy fried bones. You won't regret it. Also had the rice noodle with chicken. Just watch what the seniors eat and copy them. They know what's good. This place is so affordable and good. For the price we pay we get two meals and leftovers. Tea is $1 per person but it is real tea leaves not that tea bag thing. The service was great. You scream in cantonese, and they listen. Go for the food. They are busy and sorry this is not the michelin service.

758 Pacific Avenue location. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered shrimp * blk bean sauce over rice and I felt sick a quarterway through the meal. I paid for my meal and the waitress had the audacity to ask for a tip. And then they demanded a tip. The interesting thing about that is the guests next to us didn't tip and she didn't say anything. Ugh... never again.

Man the beef pho here I can legitimately say is the best pho I have ever had. The 5 spice chicken is similarly extremely good. The broth is filled with so much condensed flavor it's hard to describe. Service wise my experience was just average, but granted they are typically very busy I wouldn't hold it against them. Def give them a shot!

This is what we were looking for - an old-school dim sum place. This place can be a little intimidating for tourists and those not used to the ways of Chinatown, but get yourself over to this place (next to the former New Asia/Asia Garden that has now been converted into a market). 90% of the clientele are old folks from Chinatown, but we managed to grab a table. Interesting that the chairs have these fancy covers - something tells me they got them when New Asia closed next door. They have a limited dim sum menu, but you just need to ask for some of your favorites and they'll get it for you if they make it. We ordered lots of dishes for the four of us and it was $74 total! We added a few more dishes after we initially ordered and the waitress had a recommendation or two as well. The real slice of Chinatown was one table that broke out a bottle of Jameson Irish Whisky (full-size fifth) and a table that had a compact Hennesey bottle (clearly had been refilled before). There was also the table of 5 old guys in the back who were just shooting the bull - no food in sight. Definitely a slice of Chinatown and we really enjoyed it.

Excellent chicken chow mein and steamed pork bow was tasty. Restaurant was full of locals, we were lucky to find an empty table. Will return!
