Live down the street and kept passing Yossies and finally stopped in this afternoon. We were greeted warmly with chips and salsa. This place gives off a family vibe and fun atmosphere. My burrito mucho ($13) was HUGE, and delicious, got a beer shot combo for $11. Will definitely be back!

Yossies Cantina graciously partnered with my run club, offering us a special brunch menu and opening early for us to meet and store anything we didn't need for the run. So, for that, they automatically get props in my book.Drinks were standard and the food was delicious with generous portions. My only qualm was that service seemed a bit disjointed, which I'll give them some grace for given that they opened early and had a small crew handling our pretty large group that arrived all at once. One member of the group didn't get his food, but I noticed they were apologetic and offered him something (not sure what) when he comes back.Worth popping in for a drink or food if you're in the neighborhood to support this local business working to be a part of the community.

Was craving Mexican food while shopping around in the area and stumbled on this hole in the wall spot! We ordered takeout and the staff were so kind and helpful. They even included chips with both our orders. The chips were a great appetizer to the burritos. The salsa is pretty smokey so if that's your thing you'll be in heaven. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito with bacon. It also had rice, beans, potatoes, guac, cheese, and it was GOOD so yummy. And massive!!! Both burritos were huge. We also tried the carne asada mucho burrito which was delicious as well - the carne asada was so tasty and had a great marinade. I'll totally be back here!

Note: I didn't try the food, only drank beer.I was invited here by an acquaintance to watch a 49ers game. I didn't even know this place existed honestly but I'm glad I went. The place is very spacious so you have breathing room. The beer was cold & the service was prompt. The food looked and smelled delicious and my buddy said it's really good so I do plan to try it at some point. This place gives the vibe of a local neighborhood hangout, like cheers.

You wouldn't think you'd find a serious cantina at the treacherously trafficked corner of 7th and Harrison in SoMa, but sure enough, here it is doling out tasty family-style Mexican fare much like their established Mission operation, Sanjalisco (review: https://yelp.to/JFchALSkyU). Before the pandemic, the space was Rumors where I recalled having a greasy burger in a loud sports bar. Then it was closed for at least a couple of years when Jamie W texted me that it had reopened with quite a robust menu of Mexican dishes. What caught my eye was the presence of menudo. Now I didn't read the fine print that they followed the usual practice of offering it only on weekends. Well, I needed to try this spot pronto. When I arrived after 5PM, I was the only one in the dining area, though the bar was fairly well populated. Of course I asked Alfonso, the chef, about the possibility of menudo, and of course knew it was a pipe dream. Instead I ordered the $14.95 Pozole Verde de Pollo (Chicken Green Soup) since that was listed as Thursday's caldo special.Alfonso let me know he actually switched out Friday's soacial and had available the same price Pozole Rojo de Puerco (Pork Red Soup). I wasn't disappointed. Not only did it contain the expected corn hominy, shredded cabbage, chopped white onion, and radish slices, the caldo had a richly flavorful red sauce and a generous amount of tender pork belly (photo: https://yelp.to/WgAhFIbCDz). Spectacular job, Alfonso.FOOD - 5 stars...honestly among the best pozoles I've ever hadAMBIANCE - 4 stars...still feels more like a sports bar but they appear to be adding more decorative touchesSERVICE - 5 stars...Alfonso served me personally TOTAL - 5 stars...definitely trying the rest of the menuRELATED - Exploring the western part of SoMa? Here's my collection of places I've tried and reviewed: https://bit.ly/2H0vGTV

Straight up, this place is dope. If you're into the basic instagram-friendly spot, this is not for you. But if you're into laid back and chill vibes, this is where you want to be.For starters, this is from the family behind San Jalisco in the mission (and if you don't know about that spot, you should). They just opened, so they're still working out the the kinks, but what I like about this place is firstly, the staff. Everyone is nice, welcoming, and chill. They know how to make you feel welcome. Drinks are solid, don't be expecting PCH level stuff, it's just a family ran neighborhood spot that wants you to have a good time. If I was to recommend a dish, I am a fiend for mole sauce, so get nachos with pastor and some mole sauce on top....DANGEROUS.I met Tia Yossie herself, she was a cool lady. Give it a try, whether its post work drinks or food/drinks during a sports game (they had the Giants game on when I was there), you'll have a good meal, maybe catch a buzz, and have friendly staff there as well.

Finding good Mexican food on the side of town is impossible and Yossie's just solved that problem. Everything from their to tacos to enchiladas to their margaritas all are terrific. Salsa is spicy, chips are perfect. This is the same family that owns San Jalisco but for some reason Yossie's hits because it's close by, and their food is always hot and made fresh order. The service is exceptional. The ambience is more like that of a diner, but I appreciate the laid-back atmosphere after a long day of work. I really love Yossie's-- if you're in the mood for a Mexican, I highly recommend this place.
