Vons Chicken

I was looking for a korean chicken place in Redwood City and stumbled upon Vons Chicken in downtown. My friend and I wanted to try it out since it was close by. It is a small restaurant and they have outdoor seating. It seems like most of their orders are takeout. Cheese Buldak (5/5): This was pretty good. The chicken was nice and tender. It was spicy but not too spicy. I loved the rice cakes in the dish. It came with a side of pickled radish and a slaw. The portion was good for the price as well. It did take a while to come out of the kitchen but understandable because it probably needs to be broiled to melt the cheese on top.This is definitely going to become a go to spot for chicken! The service was good as well. They have an online ordering system if you want to do pick up.

I came here once back in 2022 and wondered why I'd been missing out on such a phenomenal joint all this time. Their chicken is made to be perfectly crispy, chicken is juicy, and the seasoning hits all the right notes for me. When we came back with our kids in 2024, they weren't terribly impressed by my selection BUuUT they were gaga for the Soy (garlic) fried chicken. As in we had to order another batch of that. So it really was a win for all of us. Great customer service every time as well!(FYI the picture is of our Husky puppers enjoying their time in the outdoor seating!)

I stopped by to try their lunch deal which was 15.99. I got the crispy yang-nyeom sauce with two drums, two wings, and fries. The sauce was sweet and you can adjust the spice level which I ordered the medium. I think the next time I come here I would order a more savory sauce just due to taste preferences. I also should've got the sauce on the side since it wasn't as crispy due to it. The fries were crispy and not too salty. I did a pick-up order but the worker I interacted with was nice. There is not a lot of seating indoors but more outdoors.

We order the half oven crispy chicken and the Crispy Yangnyeom Chicken Half. Both were amazing, super crispy and flavorful. You can also add additional sauces and choose the spice level to your liking. After ordering our food was pretty quickly and was served fast, we did not have to wait long. The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely!

Vons fried chicken for the win!! I brought the garlic chicken and the soy/vinegar chicken to a Friendsgiving and it was a hit! The food was delicious and easy to share. I ordered online and it was very fast and easy to pick up.

My kids really like coming here and trying all of the various chicken flavors - parking is t hard (garage), and the line is efficient. I ordered the wraps - a lot of food for 1 person, should be for 4 but it's what I wanted - fun with the turnip as the wrapper, and high quality vegetables and tasty chicken to put in it - lots of leftovers for tomorrow which worked out well for me - we come here at least once a month - pretty good considering we live 10 miles or so away

Redwood City downtown is kinda small and half of the stores have closed down but they do try to have a variety of different cuisines. I appreciate all the shaded outdoor seating with some streets being closed off from traffic. Parking is $1 per hour. It's nice to see Von's here and the lunch plate is not a bad deal for $15.60. The spicy wings have a good amount of heat. I prefer the flats vs drumette. Flats are juicier and drumsttes were more dry like breasts. Also ordered the Crispy YANG-NYUM Chicken for $20 you get half a chicken and I decided to go with combo which is 5 drumsticks with 3 wings. Their spicy level could use another level to kick it up a notch for spice lovers like me. All in all, the amount of food was good. Von's chicken always has a nice crunchy coating and their chicken is perfectly marinated. Service was attentive. Wait was minimal. Place was casual. This is definitely one of the better options in Redwood city

Went for Weekday Lunch SpecialFood - 5/5. The boneless wings were a beautiful golden brown, moist, and had great crunch. The real garlic had a mellow garlic flavor with a strong hint of sweetness. Despite the wet sauce, the wings remained crispy throughout the whole meal. Cole slaw was light on the mayo, making it a suitable palette cleanser. Pickled radish had a good balance of sweet and sour flavor and the rice was fluffy.Service - 4/5. Friendly and quick service. Chicken came out in good time. Water was self-service.Value - 5/5. At base, the lunch special is priced in the mid $10s. Their menu offers a great variety letting you choose type of chicken and sauce from their full menu. Portions are nice and comes with vegetable sides and a choice of carb, which can also be upgraded for a small supplement.Parking - Street/Municipal Garage (Free)

First timer trying this Korean Fried Chicken spot in the heart of RWC. I've seen it else where but not locally so when I saw it, I said we have to try it.We ordered at the cashier and we were seated outside on the patio on a nice day, along with my dog. We ordered the crispy fried honey butter and real garlic chicken and cheddar cheese balls. I was shocked how no one told me how good this fried chicken was. I love me some fried chicken. Now that I've been here I will be back!

Came here for the lunch special, and ordered the soy garlic wings mild and some sweet potato fries and pickled radish.- overall, everything was pretty good and there's some nice outdoor seating.- the chicken was had some crispy skin, but the sauce/seasoning was very light and underwhelming. I expected it to be sweeter, and stickier and more saucy like other Korean style wings. also some pieces of the chicken were on the drier side- sweet potato fries were quite delicious -- lightly crisp and soft on the inside- radish was pretty standard
