I'll preface this review by mentioning I am a huge dessert person, so for the most part, if something raises my blood sugar and lowers my lifespan a bit, I'll enjoy it.With that in mind, U :Dessert Story really impressed me. I stopped here on recommendation from a friend and was intrigued by the large variety of Asian-themed desserts they offered. I ordered the Thai tea flavored crepe cake and mango sticky rice smoothie. The Thai tea crepe cake had a really nice presentation but was a little plain for my taste. The mango sticky rice smoothie was what really stood out for me. The concept of turning the sticky rice dessert into a drink sounded to me like it could either be genius or just not work. The result ended up being somewhere in the middle where the unstirred drink was impossible to drink as the sticky rice would not move through the straw, but after a good mixing, the salty sticky rice was a perfect compliment to the sweet mango. This is a place I'd likely return to to try other desserts.

u :dessert story is one of the most popular dessert spots in san francisco! it can get pretty busy and there might be a wait, but i've always been seated quickly. it's also possible to make a reservation online. the space is pretty small inside, but there are some larger tables further in the back and a few tables outside. it can be hard to find street parking in the area. service can sometimes be slow, especially when it's busy.mango sticky rice bingsoo (4/5): overall i liked this bingsoo, but i thought the mangos were too sour and i'm not sure if they were completely ripe. i liked that they gave some of the mango sauce and condensed milk on the side because the inside of the bingsoo didn't have any, and we could adjust the amount of sauce to make it as sweet as we wanted. the ice was super soft, which i prefer, and subtly sweet. my favorite part was the warm sticky rice, which had a nice coconutty flavorvolcano bingsoo (5/5): i didn't think i would like this more than the mango sticky rice bingsoo, but i did! it reminded me of chocolate cocoa krispies cereal. the best parts of the bingsoo were the crunchy nuts and rice krispy bits. there were also pieces of chewy brownie. the bingsoo surprisingly wasn't too sweet and still felt lightmango sticky rice toast (2/5): a large warm hollowed out block of toast, with smaller crispy pieces of toast inside, drizzled in honey and topped with mangos and whipped cream. the best part of the dessert was the smaller pieces of toast, which tasted great warm with the honey. the crust of the bread was chewier and harder to cut, and the bread didn't taste fresh. it had a weird taste, which i didn't really like, but otherwise the flavors were similar to the mango sticky rice bingsu, including the sour mangosdouble fromage lychee cheesecake (5/5): my favorite dessert! the cake was so soft and fluffy, and it had a light lychee flavor with slices of lychee on top. the cheesecake wasn't as dense or cheesy as new york cheesecake. i liked that the cake was only half cheesecake, which made it even lighteryoung coconut pandan crepe cake (4.5/5): very coconutty with a subtle pandan flavor, which came with a lovely coconut sauce. it was a very light, airy cake and a little on the sweeter sidefried chicken wings with sweet glaze sauce (4.5/5): like fish sauce wings! they had a rich savory, salty, and slightly sweet flavor with a little kick. they weren't crispy because of the glaze, but they were super juicy and flavorfulblue lychee (3/5): not bad but very sweet, especially because of the syrup, canned lychees, and lychee popping boba. i would've preferred lychee bits over whole lychees, which might've helped with the sweetness. that being said, it definitely had a strong lychee flavor. i've also tried the drink with boba instead of lychee popping boba, and the boba was too softoverall u :dessert story is a great option for desserts with its extensive menu, including even savory dishes. there's something here for everyone, although it's a little on the pricey side. most everything i've tried has been solid, so it's definitely at the top of my list when someone is craving a sweet treat!

Looking for a late-night dessert spot? This place is a must-try!My friends and I shared the Mango Sticky Rice Bingsu, and it was the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing. While I would have loved a little more sticky rice on the side, the bingsu portion was generous enough to serve all three of us.We arrived later in the evening and were seated right away. The service was quick, and the staff were friendly. Definitely a great spot to satisfy your dessert cravings after hours!

SF has no shortage of aesthetic desserts and U:Dessert Story lives up to its hype. The Young Coconut Pandan Crepe Cake is phenomenal, I have had many other flavored crepe cakes but the coconut was my first and I loved it! Ube Biscoff Bingsu is so photogenic! I am glad it tasted as good as it looked, was creamy yet light. The Thai Tea Crepe Cake was my least favorite so I wish I had ordered something else instead- like their Ube mochi waffle. I guess that leaves some excitement for next time?

Very good... BUT way way way over priced. More on the unique side of typically desserts, but because of $$$, it'll be a one me experience there. As good as it is, not worth it. Also, not sure how a dessert place can think they should be able to make tips mandatory on parties of 5 or more. All they do is bring out your order and never come back until you ask for the check. Four Andrew Jackson's for the following (plus a drink) is insane (after tax and tip)

This place is hands down my favorite dessert place in the Bay Area! If I ever have friends visiting from out of town who have a sweet tooth, I bring them here. And you should too!!The service is friendly but sometimes it takes a bit to get an order in, probably because it's always so busy! And rightly so! The pricing is quite high, even for SF standards, but I cannot stop craving their desserts. I'm glad I don't live in SF or it would definitely be a problem for my wallet. The ambiance is loud but poppin with great top 40 jams. Some people even seem to be studying here? Idk how with all the noise but there are a couple outlets around the front seating area if you're down to try it. I've tried so many various desserts here: the Thai tea crepe cake, pandan coconut crepe cake, double fromage lychee cheesecake, chocolate organic matcha molten lava cake, volcano bingsoo, cherry blossom lychee shake, and many more. I keep coming back because everything is so good! Some items (like the cherry blossom lychee shake) are too sweet but it is a dessert place after all. My favorites thus far are the chocolate organic matcha lava cake and the volcano bingsoo. I highly recommend at least two people for the volcano bingsoo though since it's so much! I can't wait to come back and try the double fromage honey Yuzu cheesecake, the chocolate pistachio bingsoo, the mango sticky rice bingsoo and whatever else strikes my fancy next time. Because there always will be a next time with U Dessert Story. And that's my dessert story.

After my life changing experience at the U Dessert Story in Berkeley a few months ago, I've been dreaming of the day I find my way back to my beloved mango sticky rice brick toast. The universe must've been rooting for us, because I was able to find a cheap flight up to SF for the weekend and try the U Dessert Story SF location this time. We had a reservation and were seated right away in the back of the restaurant, which was quiet and very spacious. Of course I ordered the mango sticky rice brick toast, while our friends got the young coconut pandan crepe cake. Mango sticky rice brick toast: 200/10. I loved that the high quality ingredients and attention to detail between both locations were consistent. The mango chunks were so fresh and juicy, and the puree added a nice tanginess to balance the sweetness. The brick toast was just the right amount of crispy without being dry. The range of textures and temperatures is unparalleled, from the chewy sticky rice to the extra crunch from the shaved almonds on top, from the warm crispy pieces of baby toast to the cold and creamy mango ice cream. This is truly the granddaddy of high value desserts. Young Coconut Pandan Crepe Cake: 8/10. This was rich and packed with coconut flavor yet somehow still felt light and fluffy. Presentation was also super cute!My friends and I had an incredible time, and I already can't wait for my next trip to NorCal for U Dessert Story!
