Order:* Spam Musubi* Tuna Corn Musubi* Chicken KaraagePros:* The shape and design do seem closer to an ongiri, but the flavor, preparation and portion were all very satisfying.* The karaage was surprisingly tender and moist with good flavor.* The people were friendly.Cons:* I actually really enjoyed my food and I can't really think of anything to knock. Comments:* I was fortunate not to have to wait in a huge line. If I'm in a food truck scene and their line is 15 or more deep and twice the length of others, I'm probably seeing what else is being offered first. All else being equal, I'd look forward to having their food again.

Not like the Hawaiian spam musubis I'm used to. So they start with a cold sphere of rice wrapped in seaweed. Then it's like they cut into it and push in a little meat. And the rice ratio is way too high, like by the time the meat is gone you still got 1/3 of the rice ball left. Spam Musubi: The spam was not even crisped up or anything. Plus it's barely got a marinade. A very disappointing spam musubi compared to many I've had in the past.Ten Musubi: Same rice ball construction, this time with a single whole tempura shrimp inside. It had a little sauce on it. Kinda like this more than the Spam Musubi, since it had more texture of flavor.Karaage: A few crispy morsels of chicken came in the bento. They were actually quite helpful to eat along side all the leftover rice.Edamame: Standard, but appreciated.Miso Soup: Felt a little heavy on the seaweed and light on the tofu. Still nice to cleanse the palette between bites.

The chicken musubi was delicious but def ask for extra teriyaki sauce with it. Also they can get a long line so expect a wait, but regardless it's a Delicious affordable snack!

YES YES YES! Finally a musubi truck that tickles the tastebuds! Let's talk about it! Tokachi Musubi serves exactly what the business name says, "Musubi"First impressions, you are almost overwhelmed with the different selections of musubi variations. Also, you almost wonder the size as each one is worth $6 a pop. I ordered two different selections...1) Chicken karage musubi: This one is a fried chicken musubi, it comes as a round rice ball wrapped in dry seaweed. Cut in half like a pac-man, they place the generous serving or chicken karage on top. NO they don't remove the rice from the inside! Instead think of it as a rice ball with a side of chicken. Def filling if you want a snack to go. This one was my favorite! 2) Shrimp musubi: As mentioned earlier, served similarly like the other musubis. This is served as a rice ball wrapped in dried sea weed and stuffed with breaded shrimp. I personally think they could use a lot more shrimp, I felt like there was way too much rice and a small breaded shrimp. This one imo is a miss but delish nonetheless! Verdict: Tokachi Musubi is a must try! If you like musubi, and if you like in different variations, or even have not tried it in different variations, try this spot it will not disappoint. I want to try their spam musubi next.

Ordered the musubi bento w spam and shrimp musubi.Chicken karage was good- flavorful but I wish it had a dipping sauceEdamame- a little cold but not badMiso soup- really liked itShrimp musubi- did not like. Shrimp not too tasty and their musubi has a TON of riceSpam musubi- came with 2-3 slices of spam so the TON of rice had some meat to go with it, so it was a decent ratio and I liked the taste more than I expected

Spotted this food truck at Treasurefest today and ordered the 1) chicken karaage and the 2) spam musubi. Service was fast and I got my order in less than 5 minutes. What threw me off was the way the musubi was presented and I should've known from the display that this wasn't going to be easy to eat. Musubis, as how I know and love them to be, are these portable snacks that I can eat with my hands. They're little to no mess and the perfect snack for when you're on the go. These musubis were not it. I had to post and ask for a fork just to eat them properly. They're huge rice balls that are cut down the center and then filled with lettuce, protein and topped with sauce. The sauce was drizzled on top and not in between the center of where it was cut which made for an incredibly messy bite. Flavors didn't wow me either. The karaage was rather basic and didn't have any dimension -- no spice, no seasoning in the breading. The sauce was just an unagi like sauce that added the most flavor to the musubi but it was nothing special.

My friend told me about a new Japanese food truck in San Francisco. As both of us were from Japan, we decided to check them out at Sparc on Friday night. Each household in Japan has their own way of making onigiri or musubi ( both means rice balls) and tokachi musubi reminds me of that homemade, warm, unpretentious, and comfort food/onigiri that I eat back home in Japan. Their rice was also moist , soft and complemented the ingredients very well.Mentaiko: spicy fish roe musubi was my favorite as I grew up eating it as a kid and I love anything spicy. For those who are looking for a kick, this is a must try.Ikura musubi: fish caviar musubi and it tasted just like the ikura nigiri at sushi restaurants. Their subtle saltiness, combined with the perfect smokiness complemented the soft rice.Ebi tempura musubi: nothing goes better with beer than a fried shrimp. The shrimp was nice and hot. A siracha mayo sauce was drizzled on top that was just delectable and went perfect with the shrimp. My friend let me try her Karaage ( fried chicken) that came in her bento box and it was hot and juicy. The line for the food truck seemed long, which just meant that food was that good ( and it was ! ). We went looking for a beer while we waited. I appreciated the cashier who gave us a heads up about the wait time and we ended up not having to wait too long. Loved the food and will definitely be going back again !

"Look at that loooonnng line!""Let's jump in it!"Some AZNs love to queue up! Even when there's no freebies. Because some are curious about the new new or straight up nosey (*raises hand*). Today at Spark Social SF (Bark Summer Pawty Event), Tokachi Musubi food truck had the longest line which drew curiosity and for more people to jump in line. They're a new food truck (opened in March 2023) serving Japanese Omusubi ($5-$8 each) and Udon ($10-$14). Vegan friendly. O M U S U B I * Ebi Fry: Fried Shrimp ($5 x2)* Karaage: Fried Chicken ($5)* Buta: Pork ($5)* Mentaiko: Spicy Red Caviar ($5)I had high hopes for this Japanese owned and operated truck but it was sadly a letdown.Like a baby onigiri, the omusubi were golf-sized rice balls wrapped in nori, cut in the middle, then stuffed/topped with your choice of protein or veggie. Each omusubi had one piece of protein - one fried shrimp, one karaage, one folded slice of braised pork, or a light smear of mentaiko (one half side only).I tried the ebi and mentaiko omusubi. Seemed like a bad batch of rice, it was mushy and gluey in texture esp the mentaiko one. The nori was soggy+chewy so the omusubi may have been prepped ahead of time. We picked out the proteins to eat and tossed the rice balls. S E R V I C E Kind. They're still figuring things out so it took awhile to order. With 5 groups in front of us, it took 30-35 minutes to receive our order. They forgot one of my omusubi so I had to go back. Overall, seemed like Tokachi Musubi had an off day. Although it was pricey for what it was ($32 for 5 omusubi w/ tip), I'm down to give them another try if I run into their food truck again. Hope to have a better update next time!

Service was great despite the busy lunch time rush and I ordered the fried shrimp musubi and everything about it was so good! The sauce, crust, rice quality, and the nori(seaweed) wrapping the musubi was a great balance complimenting one another! Will definitely visit again!
